Population

As of 2020AR there are roughly around 2 billion human-like creatures on Luna broken out as such:

  • ~1.5 Billion Resonators
    •  ~1 Billion Rabbit
    •  ~250 million Canine
    •  ~100 Million Feline
    •  ~150 Million other species
  • ~500 Million Maestros

Population Dynamics

Given how common Rubato crystals are on Luna, maestros are much more optional than on the surface world, hence the larger population of Resonators.

Despite how they look down on Riterran society as barbaric or savage, the Lunar society has its own struggles in class warfare, broken out usually as such

  • Lunar Rabbits
  • Maestros
  • Other Lunar Resonators
  • Non-Lunar resonators
  • Non-Lunar rabbits (usually executed due to being "birth defects")

In many Lunar towns and cities, you will find a large majority of its populous as Lunar Rabbits. Though you will find some stronger Maestros amongst the Rabbits. Unlike on Riterra, maestroless Resonators aren't seen as strays or lesser beings. This can be attributed to the commonality of rubato crystals meaning even poor Lunarians have access to the rhythm-containing gemstones. In addition, there is a robust education system that allows solo resonators to learn to control their own magic quite well. Additionally, Maestros and resonators are on equal footing, to the degree that giving a maestro one's tuner is on the same level as a wedding proposal.

On the inverse, non-lunar resonators are treated quite poorly, usually ending up in prison for crimes they didn't commit and eventually being sentenced to hard labor in state-controlled mines.

To say Lunar society has stagnated is an understatement, there isn't any real major movements. Typically, people are born, grow up, and die in the town they were born in, usually never knowing anything more than what is their town. They may take vacations to some of the nicer lunar cities, but these are rare occurrences, even once-in-a-lifetime events for the poor.

The "lesser" towns as a result have very patchwork like feels to them, having been added onto more and more as the years passed.

Meanwhile the larger "nicer" cities where most of the wealth is ends up is usually in a constant state of construction, replacing perfectly good buildings with newer ones as the wealthy continue to spend their money on more lavish and expensive dwellings.
