Before Rose made the ancestor of the first "Modern" tuner in 1555 AR two Rubato crystals would be linked allowing transmission of rhythm over a short distance, the rhythm degraded over the air.
Benefits:
- Can just be crafted from plentiful Rubato crystals.
- Crystals can be embedded in weapons, jewelry etc
- Super fast rhythm transmission
- Rubato crystals on the Resonator's body can be used to "store" spells
Downsides:
- Require crystals to be on the resonator, prone to being targeted or knocked off in battle.
- Maestro has to memorize their spell list
- No limiters, can be potentially lethal for mismatched pairs
- No control button, leading to resonators killing their maestros with stored spells in some instances
- Limitations on distance between Maestro and Resonator
