Fauna & Flora

Foe

HABITATS:

  • All Biomes (except ocean)

Diet:

  • Aura (particles)

Temperament:

  • Docile

Foes are tiny, nearly hollow-shell-made creatures that lack so many vital pieces to being an organism that many biologists wonder how it works. They have an elongated main thorax topped with a head with a hole cut out of the center. With no sensory organs besides two stringy antennae atop its head, and a pair of infinitely beating fragile wings on its back, the foe travels endlessly with no sense of direction or motive. The thorax curls at the end to encase a small orb of bright light that appears to be unattached to the Foe. These mindless creatures are the major source of natural light across all of Ptitheros, illumination forests and houses alike. Most foes get stuck in places like creases of tree bark or corners of ceilings, resulting in a mass of decaying foe flesh but released glowing orbs. Their orbs float about on their own or remain in the pile of matter, lighting up areas as if it were simply bioluminescent moss.

  • A sub-species of foe can be found in temperate climates that have a fuzzy thorax and double-curled tail. These are called sugar-foes and they create hives for their swarms where they churn aura-residue into a super high-energy geletin subtance that Ptithians call honey. The hives are called "sugar hollows".
  • A foe's light orb is where the aura particles are processed drectly into energy for their body, which is why it glows so bright, it is handling so much aura in a small compact space. If a foe loses its orb, it loses its only way to eat, and will die soon after.
  • It is common for live foes to be trapped in glass lanterns and placed around as a light source. As long as air/aura in the air can get in the latern, the foe will be perfectly fine. It does not understand nor care about being enclosed.

Loot Items

  • Foe Dust

Miniturie

HABITATS:

  • Jungles
  • Swamps
  • Warm Coasts

Diet:

  • Omnivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Minituries are small lizard-like creatures that have six legs, two pairs that function like an upper-leg pair and one hind leg pair. Their heads are extremely flat and all their senses are forced towards the front of their snout, except for their multiple expression-capable ear flaps at the back of their head. They come in a large variety of colors and usually blend into their home environment. These creatures can be found in all temperate and warm regions of Ptitheros, especially the southern coastlines. They are docile and are a common and easily sourced food for any carnivore. However, some Minituries have a venomous bite and/or mucus coating their soft skin that causes extreme irritation to other creatures

  • Although omnivorous, minituries have a set of razor sharp, needle-like teeth. These can easily shread skin and their bite feels like the sting of a thousand bees.
  • Many Ptithians living in marsh regions keep minituries around their house as a form of pest-control, because they'll eat any annoying bugs and deter foe swarms.

Loot Items

  • Miniturie Meat
  • Miniturie Flayed Skin
  • Poison Vial

Tion

HABITATS:

  • Temperate Forests
  • Savannas
  • Boreal Forests

Diet:

  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

Tions are a common predatory mammal that can be found in all areas of Ptitheros except the Floating Isles and Wurunwa. They are not aggressive towards Ptithians unless provoked. As a pack creature, they are often found in family groups consisting of 3 to 8 individuals (not including pups). Tions can be domesticated if introduced to an owner at a young age. They are loyal to their master until death and are often bred to be excellent hunting partners.

  • Tions are a common companion (pet) species! Learn more here.
  • A tion's head-skull is a real part of its skeleton, but it is outside the body whereas its fragile brain and muscles are underneath the bone. The rest of their skeleton is internal. If their skull is fractured they can regrow the portion of bone and will not bleed because no blood vessels coat the seperation between bone and flesh.
  • Despite having no eyes, tions can see pretty well. Biologists speculate that their bodies focus what aura concentration it has towards sight ability.
  • Tions have a chance at giving birth to a sub-species called the taroot. It is believed that tion pups may develop with a higher aura-concentration than normal while in the womb, which produces a taroot rather than a tion.

Loot Items

  • Tion Fur
  • Broken Bone Bits

Fen

HABITATS:

  • Deserts
  • Savannas
  • Steppe

Diet:

  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Fens are petite, feline-resembling creatures that can be found in the arid climates across the center of Ptitheros. They are hairless, smooth to the touch, can handle extreme heat, and barely need water. Their eyes are pitch black to protect from the Sun and their eyes fan out wide and travel down their neck and upper back like a striped cobra hood. These open ears expel body-heat and can be clamped against the body to avoid dust and sand from getting in when they sleep. Many fens are kept as pets because they are calm and aren't a danger to anything larger than it. Although carnivorous, fens are social animals and enjoy living in cities and towns instead of out in the empty desert dunes or savannah.

  • Fens are a common companion (pet) species! Learn more here.
  • Fens can fold up their "hoods" into a ruffle.
  • They have webbed paws that help with traversing sandy environments, helping them not sink as they travel. It also helps them swim if they fall into water.
  • Fens are loved by Ptithians despite being so full-of-themselves and independent. They usually force themselves into a Ptithian's life rather than the other way around, leading to their own self-domestication.

Loot Items

  • Fen Hood

Lingerer

HABITATS:

  • Jungles
  • Temperate Forests

Diet:

  • Omnivorous

Temperament:

  • Docile

Lingerers are scrawny mammals that spend almost their entire lives up in trees and inside of trees. With their six limbs, dexterous fingers, and strong tail, they are excellent climbers and can hop extremely far from branch to branch. Larger lingerers can be found in jungle environments, whereas the smaller breeds live in normal forests where the trees don't extend to the skies. They eat fruits and insects and are the clean-up creature for the built up biomasses of foes. Although not commonly recognized as a food source, they are an adequate form of protein for carnivores who can fly or climb after them.

  • They can jump extremely far from branch to branch.
  • Their strong, lithe tail is used to hold onto tree branches.

Loot Items

  • Lingerer Tail
  • Lingerer Legs

Baluu

HABITATS:

  • Jungles
  • Swamps
  • Warm Coasts

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Baluus are docile, amphibious creatures that have small, wet bodies and an endless stomach. Their skin is soft but moist to the touch, many have mosses growing over their upper back and necks as they get older and move less. Tiny legs uphold their flat bodies and end in small webbed feet that function as fins in the water. Excellent swimmers, they spend hours on the bed of lakes, ponds, and slower river areas before rising to the surface to hunt foes and other insects. Foes that land on the surface of water are quick catches for baluus. When threatened, they dig into the mud and hide, or slip into the water to swim away as fast as possible. Baluus are an easy prey for larger predators but luckily aren't a preferred food source for most sapient creatures. Due to their docile nature, baluus are easily domesticated if hatched within the company of someone. Baluus who have spent a long time with e Ptithian also become semi-domesticated. A pet baluu gives the owner a unique advantage- baluus can store anything in their endless stomachs, which makes them perfect for travel- as they can be fed some things and function as a walking, loyal item chest.

  • Baluus are an uncommon companion (pet) species! Learn more here.
  • Baluus love to sleep in compact space like rotting logs or mud holes. If a baluu lives in a house with a Ptithian, it is common to find them wiggling their way under bedsheets and blankets before bedtime.
  • Their back-frills stand up when they are happy or alert.

Loot Items

  • Baluu Stomach Sack
  • Baluu Frill

Frillen

HABITATS:

  • Plains
  • Savannas
  • Marshes (non-waterlogged)
  • Lowlands

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Frillens are large, herbivorous animals with dense fur covered bodies and glorious horns sprouting from the sides of their heads and necks. Their face is very bovine-shaped, with an upper lip that overhangs their flat-toothed lower jaw, and pitch black eyes are deep set within their head. Their body is perfectly arched upward with a thick, short, dinosaur-esce tail at the end. Wooly fur ranging from brown, black, and marbled covers all of their body and drapes past their knees, revealing only the bottom half of their ankles and feet. The front paws are more split with dysfunctional claws, meanwhile hooves make up their hind feet. In the wild they graze on the grasses of open, vast landscapes, but many prefer the south due to wetter climates. It isn't uncommon to see herds of them standing in the shallow parts of rivers and lakes just hanging out and making rumbling sounds to convey content. Frillen are docile animals and a large sum are bred for milk, meat, and hide at farms. There are no differences between the frillen bred in captivity for products and the frillen found in the wild.

  • Frillen products are some of the most common in farm animal exports, especially their milk.
  • A large herd of frillen is typically safe to approach, however, if they believe you may be after their children, you will be charged at by some of the strongest herd members.
  • Male frillens have colorful frills and ridge scales, females do not.

Loot Items

  • Frillen Meat
  • Frillen Hide
  • Frillen Frill
  • Fresh Milk

Faeller

HABITATS:

  • Lowlands
  • Boreal Forests
  • Temperate Forests

Diet:

  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Faellers are feathered, avian creatures with a body shaped oddly like a pole. Very ridged and cornered, atop their head are a set of upright, fox-like ears, and the only thing on their face is a singular, gazing eye. Hidden beneath their dense chest feathers is a mouth full of sharp teeth. Their legs resemble a hawks and they have beautiful, large wings that carry them silently through the air. Too wise and independent to tussle with Ptithians, they just fly away if threatened. They can't do much more than claw at or gaze uncomfortably at something bigger than them. Faellers can be trained with food is one is caught is raised from an egg. Trained faellers catch food and become watchful eyes from above for their handlers.

  • Faellers are an uncommon companion (pet) species! Learn more here.
  • Faellers are quite intelligent and have been seen to use basic tools such as sticks to dig holes for insects and weave leaves to make more sturdy nests.
  • No faeller is truly domesticated. Even those raised and trained from eggs will leave their handler if they aren't treated to enough food and activity stimulation they need.

Loot Items

  • Faeller Feathers
  • Faeller Eye

Echoer

HABITATS:

  • Plains (bordering forests)
  • Boreal Forests
  • Temperate Forests
  • Jungles

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Echoers are deer-resembling animals with lithe forms, tiny three-split hooves, and large, elliptical antlers on their head and muzzle. They come in a variety of natural and bright colors, their faces always have speckles of blue or white on them. Their horns grow into a circle, connecting over time to create the shape. Echoers are said to be the pacifist protectors of the forest, many Ptithians seeing them as good luck when one with a perfect set of horns crosses near their home. They eat grass and other plant life and have been seen to defend other species than their own, coining their protector nickname. Echoers are fast, able to outrun most predators, but in packs there are usually a few who are too slow to reach safety.

  • Echoers are a food source. Their meat is tough and tasteful, a very good protein source for cubs and hatchlings because of the aura amount in the animals. However, the meat is expensive compared to other types on the market.
  • Echoers got their name from the ability their horns have. When harvested, the horns of an echoer (if developed into a circle) can be spoken into and will cast a louder sound of what was said a few times, making the horns the original warning call object before proper inventions replaced them.
  • For Ptithians with the aura ability to speak to animals, they say that echoers are always the first animal that speaks to them. Many recall that it was actually an echoer that found and told them what kind of magic they have. This has lead to speculation that echoers are much more intelligent and watchful than they lead on.
  • Dark spectral forms of echoers are spotted deep within forests, creating the theory that echoers live on amongst their home after they die.

Loot Items

  • Echoer Meat
  • Echoer Fur
  • Echoer Horns

Talon-Mimic

HABITATS:

  • All Biomes (except ocean and highlands)

Diet:

  • Aura (particles)

Temperament:

  • Docile

Talon mimics are small creatures related to the common foe. Their bodies are segmented pieces arranged to form a shape that can move around, in the case of these strange insectoids, they look just like the hand of a dragon. Crawling around on the tips of their "fingers", the protruding area of flesh behind their center and legs is where all their reproductive organs lie. Talon mimics are hardly sentient, only knowing how to scurry around since auravores don't have to do anything besides absorb aura from the air to survive. They are docile and sometimes like to grab onto moving things to hitch a ride. Talon mimics can sometimes be pests when they get caught inside a house, like a loose squirrel, they will scamper around endlessly and can cause damage.

  • Some talon-mimics have glowing tail tips, this comes from their foe ancestry.
  • Sometimes talon-mimics are kept as pets. They enjoy riding on shoulders and in coat pockets. They cannot be trained to do anything.
  • They are small and don't offer much meat, but they are a good source of food for those needing more natural aura in their diet for medical or traditional reasons.

Loot Items

  • Talon-mimic Legs
  • Ground Mimic Chitin

Fantamen

HABITATS:

  • Troposphere (Sky)

Diet:

  • Aura (particles

Temperament:

  • Docile

Fantamen are large flying creatures related to the common foe. Resembling a manta ray in body shape, these beasts spend their entire lives gliding through the skies around or above cloud-level. Creases line down the center of their body and two long, slim feelers extend from their front. They have no mouth, no legs, and survive by absorbing aura from the air around them. Like the common foe, fantamen secrete a dust-like substance from their skin that collects as glowy orbs on the underbelly, illuminating them in the dark night sky. These beautiful and docile creatures fly amongst the world in small herds, many of these groups stay near the ring routes, as the many passing Ptithians produce an aura charge to the air and the fantamen are attracted to such. Fantamen are regarded as graceful and blessed animals that should not be harmed for any reason.

  • To kill a fantamen on purpose is said to bring a terrible curse upon the killer. Sagekin say it is unbelievable bad luck, Sequns say it is a terrible sickness, Ola'mels say you lose all chance at an afterlife.
  • After Ptithians reached space, ecounters with fantamen out in the exosphere of the planet have been recorded by Voyager (ship) crews. Biologists believe that fantamen are capable of traversing short routes through the vaccuum of space, meaning they may be found on any planet that recieves enough aura-energy from its star.
  • The spirits of fantamen are associated with the winter holiday of Yuulatune because they are said to follow the powerful winter skywatcher, Theia.

Loot Items

  • Foe Dust
  • Fantamen Skin

Kallk

HABITATS:

  • Lowlands
  • Highlands
  • Tundra

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

A cousin of the massive karkadann, kallks are three times smaller and are a lot more domesticated. These animals prefer temperate-cold locations and grow a thick fur ring around their upper chest. Their limbs are more equally sized and the horns on their face are shorter and curled slightly. Wild kallks can be found in the northern realm and in mountain ranges, as they are excellent climbers thanks to their sickle-like thumb one their front feet. They are passive until messed with. Kallks serve as a type of "goat" animal for Ptithians. They are raised as a source of meat, milk, and hide. Kallks raised in farm settings are no different than those in the wild besides having a better relationship with handlers.

  • Kallks are not mount animals, but they are used as pack mules. It is common in The North Maw and Psollo to see kallks have packs and bags thrown over their back to carry heavy loads through cold, rocky terrain.
  • Female kallks have spikes on their shoulder-blades, male kallks do not. But, male kallks often have larger and more curly horns.

Loot Items

  • Kallk Meat
  • Kallk Fur
  • Fresh Milk

Raptor

HABITATS:

  • Jungles
  • Temperate Forests
  • Boreal Forests
  • Lowlands

Diet:

  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Raptors are avian-like mammalian creatures that are common around the edges of cities and towns, as they enjoy the company of Ptithians from a distance. They are small, covered in soft feathers, and have wings capable of short flights. Their wings make up their forearms and a secondary pair of wings fold up behind their legs, which have sharp claws perfect for catching rodents and insects. In the wild they are scavengers, watching like vultures and following after hunting parties and monsters until a corpse is left alone to pick apart. For Ptithians, raptors are a quick meal that can be shot or plucked out of trees, or caught easily in the air by those who can fly. Raptors can be found in cities, towns, and settlements too, awaiting scraps to be thrown at them from windows or bonfire nights. The small predators love the company of others and can be easily domesticated to hang out with families, however they cannot be trained to do anything useful.

  • Flocks of raptors that are domesticated to stay in one place produce eggs for markets. The southern variety of raptors produce slightly sour eggs whereas northern market ones are sweeter.
  • Raptors come in many, many different colors and patterns that are adapted to whatever environment they live in. Such as raptors who live in the Honeycomb Forest often have amber coats and those in Wurunwa are shades of dark brown.

Loot Items

  • Raptor Meat
  • Raptor Feathers
  • Unfertilized Raptor Eggs

Sleve

HABITATS:

  • Jungles
  • Temperate Forests
  • Marshes
  • Plains
  • Warm Coasts

Diet:

  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Sleves are wyrm-like, small creatures that are a "failed species of dragon" from long before the Cardinals created the current races. Evolution couldn’t do what the Cardinals could do so the pathetic Wyrm creature never got anywhere. Serpentine in shape with frills at the end of its tail, the creatures has eyes covering its entire body. It is impossible to sneak up on a sleve. They lack the ability to attack anything larger than a foe, as their tiny mouths can only open so wide. They aren't dangerous, but it is beyond worth the effort to approach and kill one. Their eyes are used in medicinal and potion recipes but those ingredients are sourced from a breeder of sleves.

  • Sleves like to burrow into loose soil, making the basement of houses in their territory a prime spot to find them. Most Ptithians don't mind their presence but some are absolutely disgusted by their mere existance.

Loot Items

  • Sleve Eyes
  • Sleve Scales

Seavron

HABITATS:

  • Ocean
  • Coastlines

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

Seavrons are large, aquatic creatures who's back half is a powerful finned tail and front half resembles a more land-based creature. Their head is blocky, dragon-esce, and their forearms are able to grab, manipulate, and propel things, however their intelligence limits their tool usage to making coral or wooden spears to defend themselves. Seavrons primarily eat aquatic plants and will bring themselves ashore on a luscious beachside to eat bushes and fallen fruit. They are passive unless attacked, in which they will defend themselves with their claws, strong tail, and any spears they have on them. Seavrons are family oriented animals. They travel in groups comprised of a mother, father, and children. A lone seavron is often one who has been outcasted or wounded, unable to keep up with their family. For Ptithians, the seavron is not a major food source and are left alone.

  • Like dolphins, seavrons are curious about Ptithians. They like to follow boats and swim with Ptithians who enter the water. They'll show Ptithians their tools and favorite food and share things with Ptithians that they like.
  • Their tail resembles giant kelp, making hiding easy in zones where aquatic plant life is abundant.
  • Many enjoy basking in the sunlight on beaches, cliffs, and any artifical structures out at sea.

Loot Items

  • Seavron Spear
  • Seavron Kelp Flesh

Pincher-Shrub

HABITATS:

  • All Biomes (except ocean)

Diet:

  • Aura (particles)
  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

These unclassified animals are invasive from the empty expanse of Lindoss. They are pitch black and look like a dead bush, its thin branches stemming in many directions. Covered in thorns and blinking eyes, it feeds on aura in the air and foes that drift by. When threatened, the pincher shrub will retreat under the soil, its thorns pointed upwards to poke and scare away whatever was coming near it. These animals are left alone by Ptithians unless they are too close to their homes. It is possible to remove the animals, but thick gloves are needed to grab them out of the dirt and a sharp knife has to cut them down the center to make their sludge guts spill.

  • The silky skin of the pincher shrub can be eaten, it is like jerky, and is one of the most sour foods on Ptitheros.
  • Pincher-shrubs are native to the seperate dimensional plane of Lindoss, making their biology a great resource to scientists studying how Lindoss's ecology and laws of nature function. So far, pinchers have proved that much of Lindoss is beyond the comprehension of mortals.
  • Their eyes are usually closed unless they are touched.

Loot Items

  • Pincher Jerky
  • Pincher Thorns
  • Pure Aura Oil

Khrab

HABITATS:

  • Warm Coastlines
  • Lakes and Rivers
  • Subtropical Forest (ulhar caesin)

Diet:

  • Omnivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

The khrab is a medium creature that resembles the Earthen crab but bigger, stronger, and a lot more dangerous. They are soft bodied animals that build outer shells using anything they can find- from bones, metal, leather, ect. They will scavenge for corpses of large creatures to pull apart their skull and ribcage to craft a better shell. With four strong clawed hands at their disposal, khrabs will put up one hell of a fight against things twice as large as it. Some are less brutal and like to make their shells out of flora. Khrabs are a delicious seaside food for Ptithians. A sharp enough spear can pierce through their shell and kill it. Sometimes khrabs are also kept as pets if the khrab comes to trust a Ptithian through many shell piece offerings. They don't take well to training, they just scuttle around and make low grumbling noises.

  • Khrabs can have 4 to 6 legs.

Loot Items

  • Khrab Meat
  • Khrab Shell

Tuftele

HABITATS:

  • Boreal Forests
  • Tundra Scrub

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

A subspecies of the lingerer, the tuftele is a mammalian, lanky creature that lives in the far south and the far north due to their necessity for cold weather to be comfortable. They have six limbs like the lingerer but their spare forearms usually remain tucked into their chest to hold children and keep them warm. Unlike their upper specie, tufteles carry their young everywhere instead of making holes in trees or under roots. Tufteles have flat faces and are covered in dense, gray-white-beige fur that hides them in the taiga and tundra. They are docile herbivores who pose no threat and are sometimes kept as semi-pets by citizens of Psollo.

  • Tuftele Fur

Gargyl

HABITATS:

  • Rocky Cliffs
  • Mesa

Diet:

  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Gargyls are a member of the faeller-family, except much scarier and dangerous. Gargyls have skin as hard as rock but a lightweight bone structure. Thin, agile wings are present and resemble that is a pterodactyl. A group of three, slit-pupil eyes rests on their flattened face, and a sharp beak hides under a flap of skin just below their neck. A spade-tipped tail flicks around behind them and their hind feet have extremely sharp talons. Garyls are adapted to rocky environments, but many populations have settled into kingdoms where the architecture takes the place of bounders and rock piles. Their rocky camouflage makes them blend in and they have the ability to sit completely still and slow their heartbeat and aura flow down to almost nothing, making them undetectable by sight and presence. In kingdoms where they live, eerie statues of gargyls sit silently atop roofs and doorframes, unmoving and unblinking, only staring into the nothingness.

  • Often, gargyls do not attack Ptithians, but some are more aggressive than others and will bite and scratch at Ptithians that get too close to their favorite perching spots.
  • Their bright eyes are highly reflective, making flocks of them appear like large groups of eyes in the dead of night when walking through cities in he dark.
  • Gargyl flesh is an important medical ingrediant to lefikas to solve geoshift regeneration problems.

Loot Items

  • Gargyl Rock

Jessel

HABITATS:

  • Savannas
  • Plains

Diet:

  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

A cousin of the tion, jessels are thin, long-legged canine-resembling creatures with a skull patterned facial structure. Short fur covers all of their body except their lower underbelly and tail tip. Thin ears curl over the top of their head and their eye-less faces are rigid down the snout. They are found in savannah and grassland enviorments, their long legs requiring open space to cover ground and catch prey. They travel in family packs and a lone jessel suffers from emotional distress when alone. They won't attack unless prompted to and stray away from Ptithians. Jessels are a lot less adjusted to easy domestication than tions due to lower populations and their populations existing in areas less inhabited by cities and towns. A jessel can be trained to trust a handler, but they won't learn commands or be loyal as a protective companion.

  • Jessels have a wide variety of vocal sounds and sometimes sound like they're having a full conversation with one another if heard from a distance.
  • The fur of a jessel is extremely course and are not a good choice for clothing and blankets. It is good for a form of light armor.
  • Jessels are believed to have the same aura-based eyesight ability, meaning they have a slightly above low-average inner aura like tions. This leads to the possibility of "jessel taroots" existing, but none have ever been recorded.

Loot Items

  • Jessel Hide
  • Broken Bone Bits

Tyvet

HABITATS:

  • Savannas
  • Scrub Forests
  • Temperate Forests

Diet:

  • Carnivore
  • Omnivore (dire situations)

Temperament:

  • Aggressive
  • Neutral

A distant relative of the tion, the tyvet is a large predator that scavenges mainly the savannah and open forests of the inner continent. These beasts have wide, skin-lapped necks draped in bristly fur. An extra layer of furred skin layers from the top of their jawline and folds around to the start of their dorsal spine. Thin but muscled legs holds their bodies up and a thick slabbed, hairless tail drags behind them to keep their form leveled when they prowl and run. They can be found mainly in temperate forests and in the south edge of the savannah, where berries are a food source when corpse scavenging may be hard to come by. They live alone and will attack if hungry or guarding their cubs. Tyvets are not domesticated and cannot be trained.

  • Tyvet pups are easy prey, so their adult neck plating extends across their entire backside until they develop fur there during adolescence.
  • Tyvets can be neutral or aggressive depending on the individual. If the tyvet is a mother with pups, they are more likely to be aggressive.

Loot Items

  • Tyvet Fur
  • Tyvet Plating
  • Broken Bone Bits

Karkadann

HABITATS:

  • Deserts
  • Mesa
  • Savannas

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

Karkadanns are large, dangerous animals that, although herbivores, pose a threat to even the strongest lefiká when angered or defensive. Their body is stilted upward on a pair of muscular forearms, while their hind legs are shorted but just as dense. They move in a staggered gallop or a slow crawl, their feet flattened hooves that glide over sand particles with ease. Their skin is hard like a rock, sandpaper-like to the touch, and impossible to cut through without a sharped set of claws or blade. A lopsided face, their upper lip always draping one direction, showing off a lower tusk on the uncovered side. Small, black eyes rest on the sides of their head and a big horn grows from their nose. In the wild they travel in small herds across the desert, eating shrubs and greenery at oasis. When unable to find food, a karkadann has no issue killing and eating the nearest nomadic traveler and resorting to carnivorous tendencies. Karkadanns can be tamed if given to a trainer at a very young age. Tamed karkadanns are used as mounts for transport of Ptithians, resources, and even buildings.

Loot Items

  • Karkadann Hide
  • Karkadann Horn

Snapp

HABITATS:

  • Plains
  • Temperate Forests
  • Subtropical Forests
  • Lowlands

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Snapps are passive, moderately sized feral creatures who reside on Ptitheros. They can be found in the south, in the marshes, forests, and beaches. They are a close cousin of the boslodon. Snapps are semi-domesticated for transportation purposes. Their ability to roll up into a ball that moves quickly makes then useful as the wheels for snapp taxis. Snapps who are used for snapp taxis are treated well by their handler and are not harmed, however they do suffer from exhaustion from time to time. This is remedied by having more snapps than necessary handled by a handler for long trips.

Loot Items

  • Snapp Shell

Chislier

HABITATS:

  • Subtropical Forests
  • Marshes
  • Southern Coastlines

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Chisliers were domesticated by those who lived on the edges of the Ulhar Caesin. These creatures are migratory, tall-standing, and docile. Those who tamed them did so in order to make use of their height, size, and speed. Able to run quickly on their lanky legs for short bursts, chisliers can carry light cargo and transport such from place to place at a adequate pace even with only one at disposal. Chisliers are very docile and herd-oriented, making raising them often a family business of maintaining an entire herd. Chisliers removed from their herds for long amounts of time become stressed and less responsive to commands, eventually falling to the ground from heart failure due to anxiety. Chisliers can be used as trade cargo mounts, racing mounts, personal mounts, taxi mounts, patrol mounts, and therapy animals. Their thin legs make them capable of crossing through somewhat-dense cities if necessary but there are routes better suited for them.

Where chisliers fit in the evolutionary tree is a mystery. Their genome is alien compared to any other well-studied animal, fitting the best with mokvels, but even that connection is far off. Some scientists are saying they don't originate on Ptitheros.

Boslodon

HABITATS:

  • Subtropical Forests (ulhar caesin and wurunwa)

Diet:

  • Omnivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

A large, omnivorous creature related to the domesticated snapp. The boslodon is a dangerous, plated creature with a star-shaped frill around its face and a sharp beak made for tearing down branches and snapping limbs off of prey. Often colorful like the forest they live in, these beasts are a unique danger due to their barbed organs that hide between the plates on their back. These organs, while the barb is dangerous in itself, produce a mist or stream of milky bubbles full of toxins that makes it hard to breathe and see once in contact. The boslodon can usually be found in the Ulhar Caesin, as it primarily feeds on the fallen clumps of leaves from the bubble trees. It moves slow and is usually found sleeping in the middle of a pathway because they are awnry and enjoy causing a bit of annoyance.

Brirster

HABITATS:

  • Tropical and Subtropical Forests

Diet:

  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

Brirsters were domesticated by one of the early groups of Sequ'Manko. These creatures were once feared monsters, for they are carnivorous and are able to glide through the dense jungle trees with ease. Evolved from the same plant-based Animalia family as the infamous briar, the brirster has skin made of fleshy bark and a top side covered in grass. Durable, long-fingered, brief flight capable wings, and a flattened body. Brirsters are able to carry low amounts of cargo and are used to transport things through the jungle or other tree-heavy areas that other mounts cannot reach as often. Brirsters are essential to sustaining forts and posts set up in places in like Dark Briar Grove.

Moshu

HABITATS:

  • Temperate/Wet/Ocean

Diet:

  • Auravore

Temperament:

  • Docile

Moshu are small auravores that reside in any wet climate. They can also be found on the ocean floor. They are fully docile and easily tamed, many living in households were simply plucked from ponds or tidepools. As auravores, they lack most biological functions besides an intelligence system. They can’t die unless completely dried out or from old age.

They come in a variety of shapes and colors and breeders offer some of the rarest appearances. Moshu found inland are often more soft and frilly, while oceanic ones are spikey.

Moshu cannot speak for themselves but are telepathic, they can hear the thoughts and words of intelligent animals and recreate them in a watery-static-esce voice. This makes them useful service animals for the deaf or mute, as a moshu carried with them can speak for the ptithian. Tamed moshu that have spent a lot of time with a single owner can learn to communicate their own thoughts, however, these thoughts are only advanced as a tion’s: where they want to go, they want to be held, etc.

Seavelle

HABITATS:

  • Warm Ocean

Diet:

  • Herbivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

Seavron-related mount, usually ridden as a pastime or sport (like sail boats) along coastlines as they would not be suitable for traveling on the open ocean. They are found in Chaarm Bay and are the most common mount in the capital city.

They have a tough, broad back and are roughly the size as a brirster. Can carry up to three ptithians and some (water-proofed) belongings. Their forearms are more fin-like, with the webbing reaching all the way to the end of claws. Their tail is tentacle-esce like a seavrons and pushes with propulsion. They eat shellfish and forage for coral. They are highly family-oriented; when one is being ridden, their family follows, so two ptithians together will often ride the mother and father. Seazelles are not as intelligent as their seavron cousins.

Seazelles are easily kept in small bays or coastal inlets. Fruit trees are often grown on the shore for them, the fruit naturally falls into the inlet. In the wild, they tend to live in these kinds of habitats and do not like the open ocean. The creatures need to be trained to stay close to the surface while being ridden, but are capable of diving deep. If the rider can breathe underwater or has scuba gear then they will usually ride this mount fully submerged. Seazelles are trained to find things underwater for ptithians, as helpers to foragers and as transportation.

Ursaldon

HABITATS:

  • Tundra (Psollo)

Diet:

  • Carnivore

Temperament:

  • Neutral

The ursaldon is a large omnivore (fish favoring) with a thick fur coat that allows it to survive in even the coldest of Ptitheros climates. Wild ursaldons are solitary hunters, only ever found in groups when it's a mother and her cubs. They have powerful jaws and heavy paws that can crush the bones of smaller animals. They use their tusks and flat tail to dig out holes and compress snow around them into wind-blocking nests when they are out in the vast tundras.

Ursaldons were partially-domesticated in an attempt to make travel across Psollo and frigid mountains safer. Sled-tions were loyal, but could not defend against larger beasts. In cold climates, ursaldons can keep their riders warm and can carry a solid amount of cargo.

Their strength was desired elsewhere than Psollo though, so many were transported to the Galian highlands and more were dispersed into the temperate regions. In these warmer climates, they must be shaved down to avoid overheating. Wild ursaldons cannot survive anywhere outside of Psollo or high mountains, so those found in other regions always have an accompanying owner.

  • Can be used as a mount, Click Here for companion information.
  • Their white fur is often iridescent.
