Cosmology

Almost all religions on Ptitheros believe creation began the same way: the Cardinals created the first strains of life and gave those life forms the means of emotions and procreation. Evolution is a science in Ptitheros, but it was a purposeful thing set by the Cardinals to occur. They shaped each creature and allowed their hand-crafted nature to take over for them, for they knew what natural world they created would always choose the right path for the next generation and change in their kin.

— Sagekin —

"Forever the first, and will remain until the end of it all."

  • Direction North
  • Cardinal Edenlline, The Sage
  • Symbol(s) Chalice, Fantamen, Foes, Feathers, Wings, Lanterns

Terminology

Eden's Afterlife Garden - A world of glistening green and marble. Sagekin of good faith dies knowing their fate lies in the hands of their beautiful Cardinal, and that She will bring their aura-less spirit to a world all Her own in which they may thrive and be happy for eternity. A world of soft clouds and overgrown shrubbery. Coined the Sage's Garden, Edenlline perfect the word "Bayblua" for the name of Her small world. She prefers this because anything important named "Garden" brings Lindoss connotations to it, which is something the Cardinal does not like. The afterlife resembles the mythical Gardens of Babylon, due to its natural appearance being a vast place atop a soft white landscape. The ground is plush, feet gently sink into it, and bounce off light as a feather. Everyone can fly here, even creatures who could not fly in their previous life, the wings of translucent gold form over their back or over their original wings. Buildings create vertical citadels carved from white marble and stone, trees grow from windows and plumage of leaves erupt everywhere. Vines are ladders, layers of clouds create steps, and sunlight beams endlessly in sharp rays that glisten as they light up the world. There is no darkness here, there are no monsters. The Sagekin of the past lives on here, uniquely connected to the powers of their Goddess so they can know what occurs in the Overworld as time goes on. Most inhabitants remain solely in Bayblua, but some have the potential to go between Bayblua and the Overworld of Ptitheros. These Sagekin are known as Sky Watchers.

The Cursed - Another term used for the Chaverians who are now windiage monsters roaming the caverns and forests of the Aurix.

Soul Chalice - Soul Chalices are unique vases that were originally made by Edenlline (assigned to be made more often) that held the part of a Sagekin's soul that Edenlline deemed dangerous to their wellbeing. These vaults allowed past Sagekin of Chaveri to never fear high-aura individuals, never fear disease, and even granted immortality to those who pleased Edenlline the most with offerings and worship. The rare "age immortal dragon" blessing can be traced back to Edenlline's Soul Chalices. These objects are no longer used because their blessings soon turned dangerous during the Fall of Chaveri, as all Chaverians bound to the Chalices became windiages. The chalices still hold significant symbolism to Sagekin of the present. They make false replicas and see it as a symbol of their Cardinal's grand power being something to never take for granted.

Light Well - In the central plaza of any Sagekin-founded settlement is a chiseled stone well that doesn't bring up water. It goes down a few meters and is then lined with any reflective or glistening items the community can find. As the settlement grows, the well gains more lining and eventually begins to reflect incoming afternoon sunlight or midnight moonlight upwards in a soft light beam. The Light Well is respected as an accomplishment of a community as a whole and cannot be harmed or stolen from. Doing so results in serious punishment.

Edenlline, the top Cardinal for much of the E.D era, stepped forth to be the first to create a kin to follow Her and Her rules to traverse Her and Her fellow Cardinal's world. The development of Sagekin began with dragons and gryphons living in Edenlline's kingdom zone of Chaverí. Although the other Cardinals followed suit very quickly, Sagekin are recorded as the very first proper Affiliation, and despite the many hardships the Affiliation has faced, Sagekin remain strong and numerous, especially since their Cardinal never disappeared.

higher power

Sagekin have the opportunity to rise to a state of being that directly assists their Cardinal, except the descent into Chaverí, fighting through hundreds of windiages , and locating Edenlline's crumbled palace, is required first. Then, asking Edenlline directly to become one of Her "Sky Watchers'' long before death. Sky Watchers are powerful spirits that traverse the Sagekin afterlife, however unlike regular spirits in Eden's afterlife garden, Sky Watchers are able to travel to the overworld to protect their fellow kin.

Follower Abilities

Before the collapse of Chaveri, Sagekin were granted the blessing of having their aura and soul combined by their Cardinal. In return for this new powerful soul, half of their new soul was taken and kept in a storage vessel so none suffered consequences of being an unnaturally high aura creature. Those with merged souls lived longer, healthier, and more enlightened lives. This however fell apart after the collapse and the blessed became the cursed.

World Influence

Sagekin used to rival the Seqúns in terms of power amongst Ptitheros, but once the Tucruit came into play and the Seqún backed down on their expansion of culture, the Sagekin became the target Affiliation next to Tucruit. Sagekin were powerful, seen as the initial kin , thus much of old history circles around them. Then came the collapse, and the powerful influence of the Sagekin came to a standstill. Nowadays, Sagekin is seen as a nonthreatening Affiliation, as only Wyndgale remains North Affiliated and the once Edenlline respecting rubasyns have disowned the Affiliation entirely.

Worshipping

North Affiliation worship is moderate, as the lifestyle of most kin is gentle but busy. Some means of showing worship include:

  • Painting a Soul Chalice every year
  • Wearing Sagekin symbols on silken shawls or bandanas
  • Never stealing from the ruins of Chaveri
  • Killing Windiages in humane ways
  • Placing one in a completely dark environment for a day after death
  • Dropping foe dust into the community light well

Belief System

North Affiliates believe in collaboration and that knowledge is gifted from the world/the Cardinals to one as a reward for good behavior and happiness. The wind is said to carry the voice of the Sage, so on windy days there are always plenty of ceremonies readied within the timespan. Alongside that, trust in the wind to take one's wings are expected, making flight the symbolism of freedom and respect for one's Cardinal.

  1. Be prepared for hardship
  2. One cannot mock another's mistake
  3. Never take more than one needs
  4. Seek to understand all that is around you
  5. Never view life as property
  6. One shall help a fellow of any belief in need
  • Listen to the wisdom of the wind
  • Trust where your wings will take you
  • Never enclose yourself from opinions
  • Never execute viscous desires upon yourself or others

— Sequn —

"The happiness of many is worth more than the power or greed of a few."

  • Direction West
  • Cardinal Cymer
  • Symbol(s) nebulas, vines, cubic swirls, dreamcatchers, snakes

Terminology

Western Shaman - Shamans of Cymer's making are powerful, high-aura, Sequn-lineage creatures. Born at random into families, they are trained by Kosmos while they are children and were brought before Cymer Himself once they became an adult, where they were then told about their unique placement in the world and could make the decision to work directly beneath Cymer as a connection between the Cardinal and the government. After Cymer's disappearance, shamans still existed and were born but are only directly in contact with Kosmos now. After the fall of Sequ'Manko's central government, all shamans just live independent lives, finding jobs elsewhere despite it not being their true calling.

Vaests - The Vaests were the surrounding circle of the kingdom's Chieftan/Chieftess. They were made up of the oldest Mankians of the kingdom or those who were elected as the wisest within the smaller communities such as Seree'yaa and Selin'bu. Vaests were solely opinion-givers for the government and were purposefully designed as a group to be as diverse in view-points and differing kingdom-raised backgrounds, as to allow new laws and decisions of the Chief be as inclusive and effective as possible.

Kosmos - Kosmos, often called Kos, are special spirits from Sallenin. Kosmos, unlike the usual souls that go to Sallenin after their death, are able to traverse all dreamscapes between all Sequns and can access the real world too. Kosmos keep watch of all dreamscapes, they ensure safety to those in Sallenin and those sleeping. Because of the pact between Cymer and the Lindost Arch, Kosmos have the capability to shoo lindosts away from dreamscapes in case the monsters aren't adhering to the pact rules on their own. When visible in the real world, Kos cannot interact with anything physical but can speak through willing patrons. They appear as shadowy, whisp-y creatures that resemble a once-living Sequn.

Dreamcatchers - Sequns always have at least one dreamcatcher hanging in the room where they sleep. Properly made western dreamcatchers are the link between Sallenin and the real world for Kosmos to traverse both worlds and for Sequns to enter their dreamscape when they fall asleep.

West Affiliation began in the earliest days of Ptitheros, soon after the Cardinals gave rise to the first sapient and intelligent creatures of the world: dragons. The dragons and similar creatures that Cymer helped rise, teach, and empower became reliant on Him, and therefore worshipped Him. He is the entire reason they exist, why their culture and beliefs and magic lines exist, thus a religion based around him, just like the other Cardinals, began.

⇨ Lindosts are welcome within Sallenin/dreamscapes, so long as they cause no trouble.
⇨ Sequns do not refer to their Cardinal by His real name out of respect, instead they refer to Him as a phrase that represents His being and power as a whole: Cymarvas'tiyn

higher power

There is no form of higher power in the worship of the West Cardinal. The three occupations that are technically thought of as closer to the divine are Shamans, Chieftain/ess, and the Vaests, for they are the most well-respected and often wisest individuals in Sequ'Manko. After death a Seqún becomes a spirit that lives in Sallenin, but they can choose to wander the overworld if properly called down by those still alive in their bloodline. When they are called down they are now Kósmos, powerful spirits there to help. Spirits of Sallenin can also apply to be a permanent Kósmos, one who forever assists a specific Seqún when they sleep. This is believed to be the highest state of being, as it serves both states of life and death in positive ways.

Follower Abilities

True followers of the West have the ability to access the dreamworld (Sallenin) that was created by the West Cardinal to protect the minds of His kin and give them an afterworld to live peacefully in once they die. For those alive, they must sleep near a shaman blessed dreamcatcher, and they can only access a small, personal corner of Sallenin while they are asleep. Followers of the West are also immune to a lindost's detrimental effects due to a pact signed long, long ago between the Arch of Lindoss and the West Cardinal. They cannot avoid Lindosts, but the most the parasitic entities can do is hitch a ride without causing trouble.

World Influence

The West Cardinal once had as much influence in the world as the others, but with population comes influence- and when the population of the largest western kingdom was near extermination, the religion was nearly wiped off the map too. Many related to the families who were once with the West changed Affiliation to reduce their risk of being killed during the time of great fear after the Fire. However, Sequn is on the rise of returning in the present day, as there is an increase of once-changed families switching back.

Worshipping

Minor gifts to major rituals, showing faithfulness to the West even when not living there is shown in a variety of ways that has passed through many generations.

  • Wearing lots of turquoise jewelry
  • Dipping a feather into water and then placing it on the nearest shiny and beautiful rock
  • Lighting a small fire on a windy day, dipping a feather into it, and blowing the ashes to fly about forever in the gray sky
  • owning a blessed dreamcatcher
  • Never addressing the Cardinal by His name
  • Participating in community rituals and events

Belief System

Those affiliated with the West have a strong commitment towards the idea of happiness and family love, while also having a strong vice against anything to do with greed or possession. Their ideal world is one where money does not exist and bartering is what makes the world go 'round, where everyone respects one another's hobbies or what brings them happiness (so long as it follows the tenets), where the effort put into something shows its worth rather than the materials it is made from, and where there are no broken families or fake love in the world.

  1. Never dismiss creativity
  2. Be mindful of your curiosity and knowledge
  3. One's main idol shall be one's Cardinal
  4. One must never betray one's family
  5. Teach and stimulate a child's curiosity
  • Seek love and family born from love
  • Desire to hold onto happiness
  • Never abandon one's partner or children
  • Never succumb to greed

— Tucruit —

"Power is built through respect and righteousness."

  • Direction East
  • Cardinal Meldr'uno [Virtue Form]
  • Symbol(s) quartz, beetles, virtue eyes, triangles, hourglasses, dunes

Terminology

The Royals - Meldr'uno desired only one family line of His lefikas be directly connected to Him/The Virtues. This began the lefiká royal family, which dominated the species as natural-born leaders with bloodlines that contain some of the rarest appearance qualities possible. At the start, royals were allowed to speak with the Virtues to get information on how to rule, but over time, Meldr'uno became less and less involved, leaving the royals as nothing more than a average lefikas aside from a few unique traits.

Virtue Temple Priests - The temple priests are caretakers of the pyramids and watchers of The Dome. These priests are trained more in archeology and psychology more than the actual religious teachings of a Affillioen. Temple priests keep an eye on and protect the locked-off rooms of the pyramids and are the only people allowed into The Dome unless a punishment is ongoing, but they are still present in the background to ensure things go smoothly. These priests are revered as powerful not in body, but in mind, due to their resilience to the whispers of The Dome and handling what dark secrets lurk from the ancient Tucruitorian past within the pyramids.

Virtue Decals - Virtues (eye tattoos) can be on one or both eyes. There are 11 different Virtues to choose from and all lefikas living in Tucruitora territory are mandated to get a virtue tattoo no matter their true affiliation (whether or not they are Tucruits). They represent an aspect of the individual's moral or personality, such as many scientists have the Diligence Virtue. A Virtue tattoo is applied to a cub/hatchling/pup after the age of 10, similar to a coming-of-age event: the parent most socialized with the cub/hatchling/pup chooses based on what traits the cub/hatchling/pup has already exhibited the most. Most eye decals chosen by the parent are not wrong so changing it as the cub/hatchling/pup ages is very rare. Once the cub/hatchling/pup is an adult they may choose to change the Virtue(although it's frowned upon) or get another of the same on the other eye.

Nightborns - Tucruits born after the sun disappears under the horizon are considered "nightborn" and are therefore cursed for not being under the Virtues' gaze when they first enter the world. These cub/hatchling/pups must be killed immediately, and if the parents refuse to kill or let the infant be killed then the parents are excommunicated and the infant is killed anyways. Most diehard/long-heritage Tucruits are so devoted that nightborns rarely live, but some do make it past detection and either escape to live elsewhere or hide their secret for the rest of their lives.

The Tucruit version of the East Affiliation. It began in the late E.D era, a few decades after lefikas were created, and was made to be a religion for them, as Meldr'uno did not want his new kin to worship a dragon deity. Since then it has grown to be the accepted East Affiliation, making the old one (Ola’mel) hard to find.

!! Despite being made for lefikas in ancient times, this is no longer the case! All species can be Tucruit and it is not necessary for a lefiká to be Tucruit !!

higher power

Kin of the Virtues have many opportunities to feel as if they are gaining favor in the eyes of their divines. From being in the royal family, becoming a temple priest, or meditating at the many pyramids or attending virtue-based gatherings. To value the Virtues is a prominent and near-inexcusable thing within Tucruitora territories, one such permanent sign of slight power above others is having an eye decal.

Follower Abilities

True followers of the Virtues gain nothing material, but they are safe from the humming of the searching glass. They are not immune to the effects of the Hourglass when thrown in, but they have the ability to access it in the first place in designated locations. It is believed Virtue kin also have a peaked sense of the daylight cycle, able to know where the Sun is in the sky at any time.

World Influence

Despite being a later religion on the table, it quickly overtook the old East Affiliation and grew. It caught up and became one of the main four, and when the West was near abolished, it teetered the table immensely, at once becoming the most common until Pab'Zuaan revitalized and reclaimed a lot of land for Swā Veduro.

Worshipping

Faithfulness to the Virtues is one of the most intense types compared to other Affiliations.

  • Respecting elder females
  • Receiving an eye decal
  • Meditating at the pyramids
  • Wearing jewelry with virtue symbols
  • Attend pyramid ceremonies

Belief System

The ideals of Virtue followers are viewed as shallow due to the focus on empowerment and respect of power. Initially the ideals were created to assist lefikas in rising to be on an even playing field with the dragons and gryphons, but afterwards the beliefs have become warped once the C.E era ended. Much of the Tucruit population are kind individuals who take the beliefs as a form of self-improvement rather than classism and ego, but others use it to further their hateful tactics and pass them off as part of their Affiliation.

  1. All must prove their worthiness
  2. Be proud of oneself
  3. Sins may be forgiven but never forgotten
  4. Always believe you are capable until proven wrong
  5. One may not abuse magic prowess
  • Empowerment of self
  • Reach for near-perfection
  • Never betray one's fellow kin
  • Never disrespect an older female

— Swavvel /
Vedlun —

"Patience is the greatest asset, it permits reason and strength to become one."

  • Direction South
  • Cardinal Swa Veduro
  • Symbol(s) Coral, antlers, minituries, violets, pearls

Terminology

Soothsayer - A Ptithian supposed to be able to foresee the future.

The origin of the South Affiliation is no new thing, it was created after the West and North, but before the remastered East (Tucruit) by the South Cardinal, Swā Veduro, desiring a kin of Their own. Swā created a safe place, Pab'Zuaan, for Their kin to live peacefully in with only connection to the West due to the friendship between the two Cardinals. Over time, the Swavvels broke away to inhabit the Psollo territories, and the Swavvel's slight religious practice changes occurred due to the distance directly from Swā.

⇨ The difference between Swavvels and Vedluns is that Swavvels believe Swa has truly vanished after They disappeared long, long ago. They don’t believe They are “dead”, but they believe Swa is so far elsewhere They will not be returning anytime soon. Vedluns, instead, believe Swa is still here, hiding or imprisoned. The most common theory they hold is that Swa is in a glacial prison/void beneath Psollo’s Glacial Abyss.

higher power

A form of higher power for both Swavvels and Vedluns is to achieve "the eyes of the Sea", which is said to channel the rational and tranquility of the great South Cardinal. This height can be achieved through specific meditative and fortune-like gamble activities, making soothsayers common and revered as a source of inspiration and knowledge within the Affiliation. "The eyes of the Sea" have done nothing notable ever since the disappearance of Swā, but in the past it was believed the Cardinal was actually present with you to grant an ascended state of peace and power.

Follower Abilities

Followers of the South do not have any special powers, but are often blessed with a calmer mind and safety from most mental illnesses. Although not immune to lindosts like Seqúns, they don't suffer from things that attract them as much as other Affiliations. Most Swavvels also tend to have a slightly peaked sense of aura detection, able to tell sometimes when a potion or spell will or won't be effective.

World Influence

South Affiliates tend to keep to themselves, as intended by their Cardinal, who was always one to stay away from troubling issues amongst the world. They have made a name for themselves due to numbers, but have no track for any major events or problems.

Worshipping

Swavvel and Vedlun worship is very laid-back, but some examples include:

  • Releasing any purple fish or miniatures back into the wild when caught
  • Using Swā talismans within their homes, such as fertility or rain totems
  • Respecting those from other Affiliations
  • Leaving a basket of lavender hanging in their window during the night

Belief System

South Affiliates believe in gut feelings and a sense of achievement as the most important things in life. They are the true heart followers and see their subconscious as the means of all answers so long as one is able to access it. They view all cultures, subcultures, affiliations, bloodlines, etc., as worth something and deserving of respect until one proves malevolent. Acceptance of wrongdoings, praise of achievements, and a desire for a peaceful life are all things a proper South Affiliate wants.

  1. Never take times of peace for granted
  2. Responsibility shapes an individual
  3. One's mind is as fragile as one's body
  4. Never seek perfection, seek balance
  5. Live in the present
  6. Be grateful for all happiness received
  • Follow your heart
  • Protect your achievements
  • Never let malevolence win
  • Assumption must not be accepted

— Ola'mel —

"Respect and righteousness go hand and hand."

  • Direction East
  • Cardinal Meldr'uno [Dragon Form]
  • Symbol(s) Fire, braizers, snakes, sun, sundails, volcanoes

Terminology

Ola’mel was the original East Affiliation, it was created immediately alongside the ancient Sequn and Sagekin foundation. The kin that made up the majority of Ola’mels were eastern dragons, for they were the initial kin of Meldr’uno.

higher power

Higher power rested in those who obtained seats amongst Meldr’uno’s Volcanic Council. These kin were the brightest and most ferocious of Meldr’uno’s followers, and for their prowess and courage they were rewarded with a façade of flames and powerful pyromancy properties. They lived amongst him within the East Volcanic Inlet, which was once abundant with architecture and warm bodies, but has now succumbed to the wrath of multiple volcanic eruptions coating the islands in basalt and ash.

Follower Abilities

Ola’mels studied a sense of courage and gratitude as a state of being a better self. To be fully confident in oneself gave access to the infinite sensation of bravery and wisdom given by Meldr’uno when asked for and shown worthy of. Ola’mels are believed to have a unique grasp on cosmic cycles as well, able to tell the alignment of the solar system as just a gut feeling. This ability has weakened over the eras.

World Influence

Ola’mels did little to influence the present-day Affiliations and culture of Ptitheros. Their wellbeing and beliefs were shunned and dismantled partly by the very Cardinal they looked up to. Once Tucruits took over the title of the East, Ola’mels slipped into obscurity, their followers spreading apart and moving to new lands and converting to different religions, but some chose to stay. Some chose to keep life the same and continue on the Ola’mel culture, these people are often recognized as strong and must be protected because of their minority status.

Worshipping

  • Always trusting elder females
  • Appreciate fire in all its forms
  • Never answering to sounds in the nighttime
  • Runes and obelisks must always be stored away from casual items

Belief System

Ola’mels are viewed as strong, independent individuals. Their individualism and insistent need to remain in their old way of life makes them both stubborn and brave. They support the necessity to keep all traditions non-trivial, even those that are not their own. Everything has a place on Ptitheros but everything also has an end, and there is nothing in anyone’s power, even the Cardinals’, that can stop such a cycle.

— 5th-Cardinal —

"mother knows all."

  • Direction None
  • Cardinal "Mother"
  • Symbol(s) eyes, shadows, talonmimics, claws, ferns

Terminology

Built upon the concept introduced by lindosts when they mentioned their Mother, which is a higher-being to them that they choose to never speak of beyond just the matriarchal title. Some Ptithians took this as truth that something governed lindosts, something greater than their Arch, thus this “Mother” must be a creature of incredible power, perhaps an Architect even greater than the Cardinals. The small religion was formed around seeking truth behind the Mother, they desire to make a connection with Her, and hopefully gain Her respect as a new form of kin that is just as deserving of the incredible powers of a lindost as any lindost is (as in, they think they deserve the same abilities as a lindost and by gaining respect of their “5th Cardinal” they will receive it.) The occult religion is lead by lindost mixes or those who like to believe they descend from lindosts. Anyone is welcome to join, but it is not for the faint of heart.

higher power

No forms of higher power has been documented by the followers of the 5th-Cardinal. Higher power is what they seek in the long-run.

World Influence

As a new religion, it has not had much influence. It has gained an infamous title as being the Affiliation of killers and warlocks, or any bad Ptithian. While lindost worship carries bad connotations, most members of the occult are not bad people.

Worshipping

Acts of worship are being worked out by members of the occult. They hope to find what sparks a reaction from lindosts and hopefully Mother too. Acts range from simple chants and prayers, to the sacrifice of slaughtered animals. The most intense ritual to date is the offered feedings; by capturing a shadow-tortured Ptithian and ensnaring them, they become a target vessel for lindosts of the less-than-moral variety to feast upon for aura. Granting more lindosts to communicate with for a short amount of time.

— Architectism —

"the mysteries of the universe will unravel with time."

  • Direction None
  • Cardinal All [and those beyond]
  • Symbol(s) solar system, comets, globes, clocks, tesseracts

Terminology

The Cardinals aren’t the only Architects amongst the vast universe, Ptithians are aware of this, but it is very rare that the kin of Architects choose to disgrace their creator in favor of another. Ptithians, because of mixing over many eras, are able to have one of four Affiliations, but there are some who want a wider breadth of choices. Vast Architectism followers don’t follow one Cardinal, nor are they Unaffiliates, instead, they believe they should not follow merely one Architect, but all. By following all, they pick apart the systems and ideals that are good (good in their opinion) and follow those all at once. They are also open to any ideals given from foreign Architects, only obtained through ancient texts from the Pre-history era.

World Influence

As the collective merge of cultures and Ptithians occurs, as the world becomes more and more connected, Architectism has become more popular. For those who believe the Cardinals deserve respect, but only as dieties, not as leaders. Architectism has promoted a sense of self that pushes away from tenets and focuses on how insignificant one is compared to the univers- but in a good, philosophical way. With the advent of space travel, Architectism encompasses the growing desire to learn what other Architects and world exist beyong Ptitheros.

— Unaffiliate —

  • Direction None
  • Cardinal None
  • Symbol(s) None

Terminology

Unaffiliates are exactly what their term implies: not affiliated. Unaffiliates know Architects/Cardinals exist and their stories (most) are true, but they do not worship or abide by any of their rules. Unaffiliates are not atheists.

World Influence

Unaffiliates have been around for a long time, but only got a jumpstart after the founding of Nox. Nox was the very first non-affiliated kingdom, for it was created purely by kin without any Cardinal assistance. A population of Unaffiliates began and spread their ideals as Nox reached out further. Since then, as Ptitheros has become more and more connected and the intensity of Affiliation worship has decreased, Unaffiliation has become a bit more common among any culture. Still, it is an uncommon choice, with most choosing Architectism when steering away rather than full on Cardinal abandonment.
