Welcome boys and girls to our show
We are so thrilled to have you here tonight
Come watch our animatronics
Don't be shy, they don't bite
We are just moments away
from letting your worst nightmares
come out to play

Welcome to Harvenluna!

You may wonder, what is Harvenluna? Harvenluna began as a massive harvest festival shared around the world during late autumn. Over time, as technology advanced, it became less about agriculture and more about spooks. It is now a night where ptithians leave their home to join their communities for cider around large fires. Children and adults dress up in scary costumes or masks. Scare tactics and parties grew more popular and the idea of horror expanded. Ptithians made decorations for their house with creepy tapestries, red paint smeared on doors, but things remained simple. That is... until the lindosts got involved.

Harvenluna has been drastically simplified for 2023 in response to widespread community falloff. We hope you enjoy it despite the RPG elements being removed!

Activities

Quick-Time Events have been turned into weekly activity prompts. These are the main event for Harvenluna. Prompts can be done at any time, but prizes are only awarded when turned in that activity week.

  • Halfbody, Rough Background OR 700 word story required.
  • Submit to #cursed-runes

  1. Found Footage
  • Equiped with an old video recorder, your ptithian has become reliant on the night mode since their natural nightvision appears useless in this dimension's arcane darkness. What do they catch on their camera that their eyes may not have noticed while they were exploring?
80's Horror Film Poster
  • Tattered and aged, these posters are printed with bright colors, contrast, and fantastic vintage special effect gore. Strange movie posters are hung everywhere at the event, directing ptithians towards the large theater for showings. But what do one of these posters actually look like?
Submechanophobia
  • Deep in the carnival is an abandoned, small waterpark. Harsh sounds of shattered machinery eminate from dark, murky waters. A layer of algae coats the grotesque pools, lazy river, and stout water coasters that once dove underground into blind rides. Glistening metal from sharp teeth bobbing just below the water stalk these grounds. But oh, don't shy away, the fan-favorite tunnel-of-love ride is still in perfect working order.
Machines Gone Rouge
  • The automatons get a little quirky at night... (Available if time allows.)

Setting

Despite it's name, the lindosts' Circus of Horrors isn't always a circus. Their choice of venue could be anything, but it's always what they deem would be terrifyingly fun for their attendees.

With the rise of automatons and scientific progress, the machines of past decades are decaying and malfunctioning. Ptithians are reasonable with their fear towards these broken, sharp-point machines, and lindosts took notice. Dropped into a small dimension surrounded by misty, endless forest, is a large suburbian house and small semi-abandoned carnival. Worn down, managed sparsely by lindosts, Ptithians are dropped into this area with nothing but a nightvision camera (with infinite battery) and their own will to survive. Shattered, nightmarish automatons roam the area, ready to strike whatever crosses their path.

The desheveled carnival is a deticated "safe-zone", should you deem lindosts walking around "safe enough", they promise they don't bite as much as the machines do. Games and shops are abundant, a mix of all things Harvenluna the ptithians are looking for when they feel overwhelmed by everything else.

Hosts

Vrarnituu "Ringmaster"

The lead of all things Harvenluna. Ringmaster can be found anywhere at any time checking up on his workers or guests. Somehow is constantly bullied by attendees.

Kiolel "Mint"

Master of games and communication. Mint works closely with Ringmaster to ensure events run as intended.

Amphibious Automatons

Automatons are created for a variety of jobs and are designed to be best suited for each role. If there is work or science to be done in the deep blue, then there are automatons designed to be underwater. They are better at handling deep pressure and can explore the depths that most ptithians cannot. Automatons are never fully aquatic, but they are outfitted with features that make swimming and navigating easier.

Biomechanical and Enchanted Prosthetics

Not all ptithians are naturally inclined for life in the water or have aquatic features. There are plenty of technology and enchanted items that can make working or living in underwater sectors easier. Such as enchanted masks for breathing underwater, enchanted wetsuits for temperature control, general scuba gear, and biomechanical prosthetics to add finned tails.

Isolons

Swa's Spirit Realm of Solona

Swa Veduro is not as strong of a god as they used to be. When they left Edenlline behind, their shared spirit realm was stripped of energy. Eden recovered, her realm returning stronger than before, but Veduro was left with pieces of stained glass to slowly piece back together. With what strength they had, they recreated their small section of Bayblua and called it Solona. Solona is a glistening, purple world of marble rooms and staircases leading into endless oceans. The ground is a soothing cold, it takes away all pain, and one can run and swim for eternity. Buildings create vertical citadels rising from the pastel, glittering seas. Minimalistic and serene, a soft droning sound emanates from the sky. No darkness, no monsters, only patient spirits.

Solona Spirits : Isolons

Like Skywatchers and Kosmos, Veduro's spirits, the Isolons, are travelers between Solona and the real world. Isolons are rarer than others, as Veduro is incredibly picky with their protectors after having their trust broken so many times. Isolons also defer from the typical cosmis-patterned spirit, their appearance drawn from the oceans below instead of the galaxies above. They hold two forms, a shielded form, and a pure form.

Isolon Shielded Form
An orb, liquified and malleable, iridescent and ominous. In their orb form, they emit the same harmonious drone sound as the Solona realm does.

Isolon Pure Form
Although the same liquified, malleable and iridescent material, in their pure form they resemble who they were in their previous life. Veduro considers identity to be a dangerous tool, both name and face, which is why isolons are taught to never display a pure form unless necessary.

Worldbuilding

Transportation

Spaceships are air-tight and designed to handle pressure. Regular Voyagers can also traverse underwater and are used as submarines. Some are built specifically for underwater sectors, these are usually smaller and sleeker than the space-designed counterparts.

The monorail trains found in cities have also been altered to be quick travel options in underwater sectors, like highspeed subways going through glass tunnels beneath the waves.

IMG_3929.png

Nox Aquatic Sector

Sunken Night City
A mechanical city, glowing with neon lights and metallic surfaces, deep beneath the surface of the ocean between Fox Isle and the horn of Thorn Alcove. This underwater sector is a marvel of technology and engineering, built to sustain life and protect its inhabitants from the crushing pressure of the sea. Descend into the city and there are buildings made of a sleek, metallic material that resists the corrosive effects of saltwater. Tunnels made of reinforced glass, allumnix, and natural materials like tree roots connect buildings together. Metal rods cascade into the dark abyss, holding the tunnels up. Some of these tunnels contain trains that travel up onto the surface of Fox Isle. There are aquaculture farms, producing fresh seafood and plants. Although the environment is extreme, the sector took inspiration from the original underwater architecture of Zuaan Capital to ensure it stands strong against the currents. A mix of engineering and magic spells is used to keep the sector breathable and invisible to most wandering marine dangers.

Abyssal Rift
Near the Sunken Night sector lies a trench. A dark and foreboding place with depths that even the most advanced technology cannot fully penetrate. It is a place of danger and mystery, powerful currents and shifting tectonic plates that make navigation treacherous. The water here is colder and darker than in other parts of the ocean, and the pressure is crushing. The only light comes from bioluminescent organisms that cling to the walls and drift through the water like ghostly apparitions. Marine biologists dream of studying the organisms within the abyss. Exploratory divers never return after spelunking within the abyss. Monsters with sharp teeth, venomous spines, and hold-fast tentacles lurk in the dark waters. Sightings of seatechs are frequent.

Zuaan Aquatic Sector

Zuaan City
The capital city is located on the west side of Chaarm Bay. Half of it is below the waters and half of it is on the coast. The deepest, most protected section of the city is beneath the seafloor. The inside of buildings is filled with air (enchanted), so any species can live there, but it certainly takes some bravery. Its architecture varies as you travel from the Greece-like coastal city and into more of an Atlantis round-top style underwater. The buildings smoothly transition between land and sea through air corridors. Zuaan capital is a highly advanced city with a lot of culture and traditions still standing strong.

Oracle Palace
Built on the traveling back of Herundiin, overlooking the sparkling turquoise waters of the ocean, stands the Oracle Palace. It is a work of art, with towering white walls and graceful arches that create a feeling of airiness. The palace is surrounded by lush gardens filled with colorful flowers, exotic plants, and swaying palm trees. It is known for stained glass windows, among the largest and most intricate in the world. The windows stretch from floor to ceiling, depicting scenes of tropical landscapes, mythical creatures, and historical events. The sunlight filters through, casting a rainbow of colors across the palace's ornate interior. A symbol of luxury and opulence, finely crafted marble floors; The rooms are spacious and airy, with high ceilings and large windows that allow for plenty of natural light and fresh ocean breezes. The palace's many balconies and terraces offer stunning views of the surrounding island and ocean. Despite its grandeur, the palace is also a place of history and culture. It houses a vast collection of artifacts and artworks from around the world, ranging from ancient statues to modern paintings.

Botanical Museum
In the Zuaan underwater sector is a stunning botanical garden. It is a sprawling complex of interconnected domes, each containing a different ecosystem and collection of plants from around the world. Anyone entering is struck by vibrant colors and fragrances of the flora. Sunlight filters in through the glass domes, casting a warm glow. Winding paths and arching bridges, tranquil ponds and cascading waterfalls. Towering trees and delicate flowers, exotic fruits and fragrant herbs, all thriving in the carefully controlled environment of the garden. The garden is also for scientific research. Biologists and botanists work tirelessly to study the unique challenges of growing plants in an underwater environment, developing new techniques for growing food on station Zariel and cosmic colonies.

Ulhar Abyss Zone
Deep within the ulhar caesin is the continental abyss zone. A deep, rifted fault zone where sunlight struggles to reach. The underwater effects of the caesin continues here, even as it becomes pitch black. The force of water is crushing, special equipment is required. What seems like the floor of the abyss is actually reflecting water, but once broken through, things get weird. Open air, but no gravity. The crushing weight has vanished and bioluminescent flora and fauna surround everything... Within the abyss zone is a rare species of seaweed. It thrives without sunlight, feeding on aura-rich chemicals. It is pitch-black, slimy, and has a glowing stripe down its center. Called caro deorum (“the flesh of gods”), it has unusual anti-aura properties. It is used to make clausa; an expensive medication that is used to rid conduits. It is toxic and drains bodies of aura, slowing systems to a halt, easily killing without medical assistance. It’s used to detach parasitic shadows, removing their ability to feed.

Woarii Aquatic Sector

Spiral Marsh
A natural phenomenon, the marsh is a beautiful site of water coursing and trailing through the loose white sands that creates swirling streams that intertwine all back together to go back into the sea. A place of Zen, the salty water is inviting and warmed from the sun constantly hitting the shores.

Caves of Time
Far, far below the void of the Stepping Stones is a cavern with anomalous properties. Gravity goes away once one goes deep enough and a mist grows thick and looks like the cave is full of nebulas and stars. Ancient architecture is scattered throughout, in a style similar to the Hovering Memories. It is not a known architecture style and has carvings written in an unknown language. It is speculated this is another lost city of the Collosals, but the buildings are too small for this to be true.

Manko Aquatic Sector

Where the Rings End
In the shallows just north of Seree'yaa; Jutting hundreds of feet into the air, waves crash along the base and all seabirds keep distance from 6 monolithic structures. These structures take form in the shape of towering rings made of an unknown stone, for the substance does not match anything geologists have ever seen, but resemble a smooth marble. The rings are not disturbed beyond flying nearby, as accidentally stumbling within can lead to a grim fate. The second an unfortunate ptithian flies or swims within the rings they will feel as if the water has inverted itself, the world spinning around them as their brain fumbles to make sense of what is happening. The 6 rings turn into 10, then 100, then stretch on into what looks like forever. It is rumored they have an end but no one has documented such, and those who claim to have been to the end are brushed off as insane. It is thought that the rings are connected to the Caves of Time due to the odd 'inversion' of water once within the rings' influence, though this connection hasn't been seriously studied. The odd properties of the zone make it a discussion question, though studies of it have halted for an unknown reason.

Yuulatune 2022

Posted 1 year, 5 months ago by ◬ Ringmaster aaimasqtch

57586029_HegUKhdzHSPTABY.png

Welcome to Yuulatune!

Yuulatune is the grandest winter holiday in Ptitheros! A fascinating array of admiration for the snowy weather, the distant glow of foe lights placed along streetways, and the ever-so-delightful ending where hopes and desires are etched into paper and added to beautiful fabric shawls draped over fantamen who are released into the sky to carry those dreams with them.

Setting

Harvenluna is a lot to handle, Yuulatune is a time to slow down. This year, the Ringmaster has stolen one of the luxury Galian mountain trains and outfitted it to properly display his latest holiday vision.

Boarding the sleeper train it appears normal, all of its vintage decoration and sweet leather smell still intact. Restraunts, drink bars, seating rooms and cozy bedrooms. Windows are coated in frost and the view of tall mountains and pine tree forests cast by as the train speeds along its long route.

Continue down the halls... keep going. It grows quiet. Polished wooden frames become chilled alluminum, bars now guide a wanderer into a strange traincar with flat seats, tall iridescent windows, and the floor is covered in dew-covered grass. Go out onto the balconies and look out upon a sea of endless, pastel clouds and stars.

Hosts

Vrarnituu "Ringmaster"

The lead of all things Harvenluna. Ringmaster can be found anywhere at any time checking up on his workers or guests. He hosts the final show at the end of the event. He is not friendly and thinks ptithians are pathetic, lazy creatures.

53983641_CtqG813JlE5Fo9I.png
Kalel

An experienced winter lodge owner and holiday event planner, Kalel was brought aboard to assist as a "mortal perspective". She is warm and welcoming, but she avoids the reality-bending side of train.

Events

Skywatchers Light
It's the last night of Yuulatune, the honorary lantern show is in full swing. Ptithians gather on the cloud-covered docks of the endless, iridescent dreamscape. Far above the clouds, the exosphere is closer, and the ptithians' illuminated lanterns attract fantamen from their skyline flight. The paper lights are draped upon the graceful animals. They return to the sky, bringing the dreams tied to them along for the ride.

Train Traipse
Traipse :: a tedious journey on foot. What's a lindost-run Yuulatune without an ominous twist? Beyond the cozy, winter cabin parts of the luxury train, there are endless sections full of dreamy, instersteller scenery. Well, Ringmaster says it isn't "technically" endless and that reaching the end of the train is a worthwhile endevour. Be sure not to go alone.

Welcome to the greatest show unearthed!

Setting

Despite it's name, the lindosts' Circus of Horrors isn't always a circus. Their choice of venue could be anything, but it's always what they deem would be terrifyingly fun for their attendees. This year, it appears lindosts will be taking full advantage of the feverous nightmares they find in various Ptithians. How strange it is, that nostolgia can cause such a powerful fear response. Ptithians attending will find themselves in a large vintage diner. Fresh food and delicious malt shakes are being served, but do not get too comfortable in the hazy atmosphere. The door no longer opens to the outside world. This is merely a hub. This feels like a feverdream, the limits of the mindscape are endless when one has absolute control.

The hub is a stable, safe place. Its space seems endless, always enough to hold any Ptithians attending the event and serve them the refreshments they need. However, the doorways, corridors, ladders and trapdoors littered around leads to areas where the stability begins to break down. The farther a Ptithian explores away from the hub, the deeper into broken dimensions they go. These liminal spaces become more dangerous the deeper someone goes, and lindosts have warned of a point of no return for those who act cocky.

Kiolel "Mint"

Master of games and communication. Mint works closely with Ringmaster to ensure events run as intended. She is moderately friendly, but is not a conversation holder. She will be handling the Occhiolism event.

53983685_1lzd78fn5ToTZXF.png
Pasantru

Only found in the hub, Pasantru can be spoken to at the bar. He is a friendly, small, non-intimidating shadow who is there to handle drinks and break up fights. He can also be found at the arcade.

53983667_mIC0GlIkTeAjn7W.png

Events

Ringmaster's Theatre
Now, what a horrible host he would be to make you wander far for his show. The large, "safe" diner has a broad stage of its own. Of course, a dream-hub designed by the one-and-only would need a fitting stage for a final night's fright. Hiding behind massive, silky curtains is a show beyond anyone's nightmares. Victims and performers are here to entertain and even go into the crowd seated at booths and bars to get up close and personal. The show is not recommended for the faint-hearted. A lot more illusionary work is used this time around, since the world around you is hand-crafted by the performers themselves.

Draw or write about your character witnessing Ringmaster's show.

Occhiolism
Oh dear... oh no. What wonderful feat of darkness has brought you here? Don't you worry about a thing, sweetheart, you have been here before, but do you remember how to leave?

You've made a terrible mistake exploring beyond the hub. A lindost greets you with their hands clasped gingerly over their chest, the air around you refracts and you begin to sweat, realizing the silent horror that surrounds you. They explain that everyone likes to play games here and that if you want to go back to the hub, you need to find something. Ringermaster wants a few items that have been lost to this lucid realm. What does he want? The lindost doesn't say, but she assures you that you will know it when you see it.

Draw or write about your character exploring a liminal space to find a mysterious item. The liminal space and item can be anything you want.

Activities

Unique Prompts

  • Werebeast and Cannibal Curses
  • Paint your third eye
  • Wear a scary costume
  • Eat some diner food
  • Attend the Occhiolism item hunt
  • Watch the Ringermaster's Show

  • Other! As long as it fits the event.

Collaboration Art
Anyone can sign up with a character and they will be expected to draw a fullbody of their character with a transparent background. This piece will be fitted onto a Harvenluna background with all the other characters. Specifically contact admin suspicious_alex (on Discord) to join. Be sure not to share wips of your collaboration art with the server.

Quick-Time Events
QTE's are only available for a short amount of time and award the rarest of relics! Once the shop runs out of dark runes and mutations, QTEs give you a chance to win more.

  • Halfbody, Rough Background OR 700 word story required.

garbled and gruesome, Her words are absurd.

Garden of Darkness (Part 1 of 2)

The adventurers requested what they had come all this way through the Honeycomb Forest and deep caverns of Chaveri to do: ask if Edenlline could return to be with the kin. They begged for such unity to be achieved, in order to ensure a safe future.

Edenlline dismissed the idea. “My dears, I alone cannot provide everyone protection from the universe’s grand dangers. I would need them all to be by my side to ever accomplish what I once did in the ancient past. . .” She huffed, becoming irritated, “I would especially need Veduro, ‘else I refuse to continue so frivolously. I miss Them.”

And what if we find Swa, would you then choose to return?

“You seek a quest that you have no records for. Veduro has been missing for many, many centuries. Ever since such pitiful battles between the bulbous blue monstrum and the volcano-dwelling worm, Swa vanished, as if into thin air.”

She took a shaky breath, sounding defeated, “I do not know where They are. But. . . I know that Cymer would have witnessed Their final moments. If there is anyone to know, it would be Him.”

“Unfortunately, Cymer has long since been locked away. Locked away somewhere that is unreachable even by His own children, His demi-gods. Only something just as powerful and in tandem; something connected to his dreamworld of Sallenin would know how to locate Cymer. . . A god of dreams. A god of nightmares.”

The adventurers fell silent, unsure what the goddess meant. They waited for her to finally elaborate.

A sequn stepped up, asking if the god of dreams She speaks of is the befallen son of Cymer who lurks in the depths of the steam wrought rainforest. She spites the sequn and tells them that She just stated that Cymer's demi-gods cannot reach Him. No, no, She speaks of a beast far worse than Ukiyo.

“You sequns should know already the benefactor of your dreamscape. Did you not know it is upheld by the very monsters you avoid in your lifetime? Cymer only has a powerful spirit world because He sold His dignity to the shadows, whereas I do everything myself. Even if my watchers pail in comparison to kosmos, at least they rest easy knowing it is I alone who watches over them.”

She huffed, getting angry and having to forcefully calm herself down. “Nevertheless, it is His dependency that may save His skin. If anyone can somehow get ahold of the Arch, despite how much it shields itself away in its Edwardian mansion, I know for sure that defiant creature can tell you exactly where Cymer is.”

“But you must be careful. As I’m sure your mother read to you in horrific children’s folktales, these are not beasts to be trifled with. They measure against you in ways unimaginable and I’m in no position to protect you.”

The adventurers ask how Edenlline expects them to speak to the Arch, or any lindost for that matter. They ask why She can't help them, since She seems keen on at least explaining.

Edenlline hissed and threw Her claws towards a window of Her palace, where there is nothing but darkness and dust. “Because I don't care what the outcome is from your little journey. I don't involve myself with you anymore, I just keep the spirits of my kin happy. Besides, I want nothing to do with that crowned shadow. Those disgusting banshees are the reason half my kingdom is suffering eternal torment… they never came to take the aura, leaving all these poor half-souled corpses to wander… all because they spite me. They purposefully keep my kin away from their deserved heaven.”

The adventurers are taken aback, feeling sorry for the Cardinal as they realize all She wants is for Her kin to go to their happy afterlife, but they were refused it.

They once again ask what they need to know in order to find this god of nightmares, not requesting the goddess to leave Her solitude again.

She sighs. “That is the tricky part, isn't it. If there was any way to get to the parallm plane without the help of a resident, I’d have already used it to get some well deserved revenge on those parasites. But, alas, there is not. If you wish to speak with the Arch, you need to find a shadow strong enough to bring you all to the alt-plane. In that case, you would need an adversary, or multiple minurs. Convincing simply one shadow would be hard enough.”

“There has to be a way to find Cymer or Veduro without involving monsters, right?” The adventurers pleaded, but no avail.

Edenlline only shook her head. “Don’t you think I would have gotten dear Veduro back if that was the case? Their rescue relies on Cymer and as much as I despise that blue monstrosity, he is needed. Especially for the answers you want, you’d need him too.”

The flames of Her mane died down and She returned to Her resting position atop the endless staircase. “I believe your best opportunity is present now though. This planet is the chosen ur-world of an adversary, it’s your best chance to contact the Arch. I know it bothers the people of the Verge regularly, but I recall those occultists mentioning it actually likes staying near Thistleweed.”

Edenlline watched as some of the ptitihians tried to speak, tried to argue, but She deafened the room and closed Her eyes. She needed the silence to fully tie off Her thoughts. She turned her attention to the group, irritatingly, and continued.

“That’s all I have for you. Come back if you ever find Cymer and I’ll reevaluate if you’re worth my time and energy.”

Thus the ptithians were shunned away from Her temple as white fire enclosed the floor and the ethereal clouds covered the god’s figure and the endless stairs leading up towards Her. She was done speaking.

They followed her words. Some of them knew what She meant by “people of the Verge” and decided to go towards that, whereas others departed to speak to the thorny dwellers of Thistleweed. Neither of which was an easy trip, requiring travel through the dark grove.

As if the aurix wasn’t bad enough with its windiage and starving animals, the dark grove held the ominous and unknown, the briars and basilisks that filled the nightmarish bedtime stories of children and fears that persisted until adulthood. At least the dark grove was hospitable, the group passed cottages and camps as they followed the dirt road deeper and deeper.

Thistleweed was not a welcoming town. Its residents were strong and caring, but newcomers pestering their daily routine were not well-liked. Life in the midst of the grove was met with constant threat, no matter how many walls of thorny vines and wood were made, briars broke them down without issue. There was a rumor about Tthisteweed the adventurers had to adhere to; there was always a chance the ptithian you were speaking to be a vindiago in disguise.

Time spent among Thistleweed residents and members of the occult all led to the same answer that Edenlline had supplied: That a shadow was near the town. Although the Verge’s leader grimaced at the mention of the monster, as if having a personal vendetta, he refused to state anything more, not desiring to help.

The ptithians ended up in the same situation: Forced to explore the deep grove, all other options exhausted, but their attempts would be futile. It was as if searching for a ghost, except a ghost would probably be easier.

They passed by caravans and hunters, some dragging pelts behind them. none of them could help. Not until one lone taroot approached from the dense shrubbery when they were close to the river. She raised up and folded her hands behind her back, crookedly smiling as she got close and inspected some of the adventurers.

She asked if they were lost? Perhaps a brair hunting group that had gotten turned around? She mocked how some of them looked like they’ve wandered out from the underworld and only got deadeye stares in return.

“The Sage sent us to find a shadow. She said it’s somewhere around here. But… I think She just wanted to get rid of us.” One of the adventurers said.

“Old Eden? Why, since when does She speak to you?”

“We were in the Aurix caverns.” Another replied.

The strange taroot approached the one who answered. She tilted her head. “And… you’re looking for a shadow? You know they don’t live on Ptitheros right? They are… above us, literally, in the dark atmosphere, no?”

“The Sage said this one stays on Ptitheros.”

She giggled. “Oh, my bad. Then it must be true. A god wouldn’t lie.” She went back on all-fours and went back towards the dense bramble. “Well, you’re just going to end up lost the longer you spend out here. So, how about we wrap up your stupid little quest? Come on.” She snapped her talons to rudely make them all hurry.

She did not wait for the adventurers. They either took the risk and followed her or stayed behind by the river. She led the brave, yet stupid, ptithians deeper into the dark grove, where the canopy shrouded most sunlight. She was chatty, endlessly talking about various, useless things as she walked and pointed out all the reflective animal eyes that were watching the helpless ptithians.

Finally, she stopped and raised up on her hind legs again. She dramatically turned to the group and placed her arm over her head, rolling her eyes. Her acting was terrible. “The Great Sage has called upon you, our cosmic adversary! Show yourself, for thee—”

“Be quiet!” Something shouted from the trees. A lanky figure, darker than midnight, crawled down to a low branch and crossed his legs with perfect balance. “Shadows above, more hunters… great. Listen, I’ll never take the first strike. So if you all just go on your merry back to the Verge, nobody will get hurt. And you can tell your sorry excuse of a leader to shove a thorn up his ass.”

“They’re not hunters. They’re idiots who got lost in the grove looking for you.” The taroot replied, she couldn’t help but laugh.

“Nobody comes looking around here besides the 5th.”

“Yeah, well, Eden sent them apparently.”

The shadow tilted his head, puzzled. He knew that the Sage lied dormant in the ruins of Her kingdom, there’s no way the god had sent a group of misfits to him. Particularly since She hated his kind. “An interesting alibi. Khy, did you check their memories to see if such a thing were true?”

“No, sir.”

His shoulders sloughed and he fell backwards, flipping around and landing on his feet silently in the bushes. “I’ll do it myself then.” He said, gently approaching the group of ptithians. Many kept their distance, but some wanted to prove they weren’t afraid. They stood firmly in place and the lindost picked the closest to walk up to. He grabbed them by the horn and jerked their head down, reading through their recent thoughts.

He released the ptithian. They stumbled back.

“Tch, tch. Gods sure are skilled liars, aren’t they? She insults us as parasites and manipulators, but we never lie. It’s very, very hard for us to lie. Oh and don’t worry, I know that’s hard to believe.”

He crossed his claws over his chest and looked at droplets of sunlight streaming through the forest canopy. His masked face almost emanated a smile. “So, from what I gathered from your friend here, who might I add is constantly thinking about food, is you seek consultation with the Arch because Edenlline thinks the Arch knows where Cymer is?”

Some adventurers nodded.

“And therefore, you need an adversary to get you there?” He hissed. “Ugh, I hate that word. I hate that it follows me… But… I suppose I’m not up for dealing with your stupid goddess anytime soon, so, I can get you where you want to go.”

The adversary counted up the group. He paced around them, they herded like frillen immediately to keep some safe distance from his barbed tail and raised horns. “However. Intrinsically, that means you have to trust me.”

Partake in the Quest

You only have to complete 1 (one) option to complete this event!! You can do multiple if you choose to do so.

Vindiagos or the Verge

The Great Sage directed the adventurers towards the grove in search of a shadow. The ptithians had the choice between speaking to the residents of the Verge (5th-occult) or Thistleweed, both dangerous places for dreary wanderers.

The Verge is on the north edge of the grove. It holds the 5th-cardinal encampment and is not easy to find. Only ptithians who know about the place or know a member would be able to venture there and make it out alive. It seems that the shadow the group is in search of is infamous to the 5th, with the leader, Keir, not wanting to get remotely involved.

Thistleweed is where the rest went, as caravan and taxi roads can safely lead anyone to it. However, its rumors of constant briar attacks and vindiagos lurking among guarded residents certainly have bearings behind them and should not be overlooked. Be careful who you choose to talk to.

Angel of Darkness

Although watching travelers get lost in the woods is entertaining, the creatures lurking in the shadows could sense that leaving the explorers to die was not the best decision. A mysterious, taroot-esce individual approached the group to learn more. Initially thinking they were messing with her, when they all looked so serious she realized that it very well may be true they were sent here by Edenlline.

Mostly wanting to know more herself, she brought them deeper into the woods to encounter the lindost they were looking for. Despite a deep-set hatred towards the god's request, the lindost agreed to help, but not without questioning the ptithian's fears and motives.

Read how World Chronicles work here!

As Above, So Below

The archeologists published their findings. They would name it the End’s Beginning City. A conclusion was reached; an age of kin unknown to modern-day Ptithians once lived on Ptitheros. The ancient kin had come and gone, likely gone extinct. In murals amongst the city and from statues on temples and homes, the old kin worshipped the four Cardinals too. But, the question is, why did these ancient kin leave no trace? Actually, they did. The End’s Beginning City is massive, far out of proportion to the average Ptithian, but a perfect fit for the few Colossal skeletons that have been found.

The Colossals were the Cardinal’s first kin.

It was preached that the Colossals were here, just like “us”, but now they were gone and left to rot. Few traces left behind and this was intentional and the Cardinals’ doing. The Cardinals gave up on their ancient kin, leaving them to slowly disappear from their world. If this happened in the past, who’s to say it couldn’t happen again. . . after all, all of the Cardinals no longer directly influence the modern-day kin.

No one can say for sure if history will repeat itself, but the End’s Beginning City foretells a fate far worse than a natural downfall of civilization. Stained murals depict a doomsday, detailing that when an Architect stops caring for its world, another one can try to sabotage or take it.

Information and rumors are spreading like wildfire. Only a few believe there is truly a doomsday around the corner, but many desire to rekindle a connection with the Cardinals just in case. Ptithians desire to bring Ptitheros back to its former glory, back to what it once was and push it a bit farther into the next age. Architects working with mortal kin is a new concept now sweeping the globe.

Ptithians become deeply afraid that their world may one day collapse or another Architect will arrive to steal it. Some brave Ptithians decided that there must be something they can do, right? If such a rumored doomsday is coming then there must be a way to prevent it.

These brave, likely stupid, Ptithians have set out on a quest to meet face-to-face with the one Cardinal they still know the whereabouts of. The elegant Sage of the North, Edenlline, mother of wyverns, gryphons, and rubasyns. Deity of the Sagekin religion and creator of the ancient capital.

It is said she lies deep within the ruins of Chavei, the ancient capital. Hidden away through crumbling corridors and cavern pathways covered in gravel and fragments of bone from the once rotting corpses of her previous devotees. Beyond such, there she exists in her temple; alone and emotionally depraved from the attention she once thrived upon. She is empty of life and will. She has lost everything, but she continues to protect the shattered remains of what she once loved.

Despite the dangers, Ptithians desiring this mission ventured into the honeycomb forest. The honeycomb forest, also known as the aurix caesin, was once a glorious, amber-leaved haven full of beauty and life. It is now a root-infested, accursed landscape filled with grief. Somber cries bellow from the husks of dead trees, fog settles on the ground every night, and monster shrieks echo from their burrows beneath the dry soil.

Windiages wander this landscape. Terrifying monsters, once residents of Chaveri who worshipped Edenlline, now cursed to forever remain a rotting body hungry for endless blood. They constantly seek their next meal and will attack anything on-sight. It is absolutely necessary to carry a weapon in order to survive a treck through this golden hell.

The broadest path through the forest, en route to the most used cavern entrance from previous adventurers and research teams, passes by the chasm that was once the place of a bustling clan called the Aurix. The now-territory of Woarii is all that remains of the lineage who created the Aurix Clan, a large group of Ptithians who called the golden forest home. They resided there long before the windiages began crawling out from the subterranean darkness. The Aurix members thrived here… until the cursed lands pulled them down too.

The clan’s homes and bodies collapsed, crumbled into the ruins below. Windiage were released through the wound in the ground, forcing those who survived to move quickly. Most went south in search of safety. Old houses can still be found on the outskirts made from burrowed-out trees. Some of the venturers may have family history to discover in these recent ruins, especially those native to Woarii.

The so-called safe cavern entrance is located on the broken plateau. Even with some construction and ropes leading down from past expeditions, skills in spelunking are certainly recommended, even with wings. The caverns are lined with steep slopes and dark corridors. The lights from fire and foe lanterns can barely penetrate the shadows. The venturers know that death could lurk around every corner, ready to attack and snap their legs or neck. As they get closer to the city, pits of coal and long-dead torches can be found and lit, but the light provides almost nothing. The glow pulsates down the tunnels, edging the Ptithians further and further towards their inevitable end.

As the adventurers approach the outskirts of the once-city, the caverns begin to show their age. Mining efforts, crumbling walls, piles of stone bricks. Then small buildings, little houses and poor district shops. Banners with writing catch the breeze blowing through the tunnels. Small houses turn into full-fledged streets, with abandoned fountains, plazas, and rotted wooden doorways into large cathedrals and apartment complexes. The inner city may be desolate, but it is still as grand as it once was. The ceiling rests high, high above, a great wound in the hearth now covered in only roots and canopy rather than solid rock. At one point in time, the sky was visible… this place, easily escapable, but no longer. The structures tower above and signs creak, the skeletons of those lucky enough to truly die litter room corners alongside dust and sand. Glowing eyes stare from the windows high above, growls echo in the distance, water drips rhythmically and the wind continues to howl.

Crushed corpses litter the entrance to the magnificent marble temple. It looks as if it were taken straight out of the stories of Babylua, these once praying Ptithians spent their final moments on their knees and begging for their god to save them. She did not. Even within these dreary caves, the temple shines. Free of dust, but not free of cracks and scratches caused by the windiage trying to tear it apart.

A god lies within.

Edenlline, Sage of the North, rests atop the massive marble staircase. Clouds, dreamy as can be, drift across the floor and the ceiling high above mimics false stars and holy light. The walls extend all around, filled with books and artifacts. Shattered glass covers the edges of shelves and gold glints from the fiery glow coming from the Architect’s flame-slicked mane and eyes.

Edenlline begins to move as She sensed a presence enter Her final domain. Oh, how She wished to be left alone, desiring Her rotten beasts to kill the adventurers. Nonetheless, She allowed them time to speak about their worries to Her.

“Are any of you Sagekin?” She asked, then fell silent, the glow in Her eyes dimming.

The Architect was informed about the recent archeological discoveries, as if She did not already know exactly what the explorers were here for. They snapped at Her, grasping for stable words in an air of potent silencing magic and uncertainty, telling Her that they now knew about the collossals and that She had let something utterly terrible happen to them.

Would you also let something so terrible happen to us?

. . . “The collosals did exist before you. They called Ptitheros home, with many of the other creatures you now reside with as well. However, they were not the final product. You see, there is always a method at hand. The universe guides us into what a world should appear to be, and it is simply said: the kin before you were a mistake. Thus, they were removed, and the process was started yet again. You may call it an extinction if you so desire, but be aware, the process has been conducted many, many times on the very ground you walk upon.”

Edenlline bowed Her head, “Be not afraid of your end. None of us have intentions of wiping the slate again. Since our last agreement, you are the final product.”

The adventurers were left the think. She said the gods had no intentions towards purposefully causing the downfall of the current kin, but all of them had still abandoned their world. Some sort of answer had to be reached, or else, would the mural’s depiction of the end-times be true? Would the gods’ abandonment lead to a disaster cause by outside forces?

They requested what they had come all this way to do: ask if Edenlline could return to be with the kin. They begged for such unity to be achieved, in order to ensure a safe future.

The Architect dismissed the idea.

Choose Your Path

Journey Through Gold

Anything can happen in the golden forest. Write or draw your Ptithian going on the journey through the Honeycomb Forest (Aurix Caesin). The forest is a dangerous place, full of decaying amber trees, the floor coated in a deep root infection and porous soil that can crumble away at the slightest amount of weight. Monsters lurk around every darkened corner, windiage seeking their next meal. Is their journey just beginning, have they encountered what stalks the shadows, who are they travelling with, are they prepared for what may happen?

Aurixan Ancestry

Many ancestral ties lie rotting here. If your Ptithian comes from a northern or Woariian background, it is likely they had family ties to the now-destroyed Aurix Clan. All that remains of the once prosperous clan is a chasm of hanging roots and littered relics. Homes made from trees and chalky sandstone are deteriorating and all the life here is gone or hunting you down from the outskirts. Deep bellows howl from the endless chasm. Did you know of any family here? Do you come from Aurixians who migrated to Woarii? Is there anything worth salvaging? Or is it best to simply keep walking, leave history to wallow in its own pity? There is nothing left to save.

Urban Planner

Chaveri was once the capital of the world. It had seen its fair share of battles and always came out on top, until one day, the gods ruined the very hearth it was built upon. Down it sunk, no more sunlight, no more hope. Still, it remains here, the only residents the sulking, rotten forms of windiage and piles of bones scattered in corners of rooms. Cobwebs and bats, darkness and a wet, musty smell from the underground river flowing through the city. What do you find on your journey through this inhospitable place? What can be found in the old houses? Are you being watched? Do you think that maybe... Chaveri could be returned to its former glory, or should it be left to slowly fade out from history?

Marble Reflectance

Enter the marble temple and stand before your Architect. Peer solemnly at the shattered remains of skeletons and pottery, the glass floors are of grave danger, bile fluids of blood and guts of eons past and malicious wars coat the tiles beneath your feet. The false sky glimmers high above and clouds drift like heavenly bodies, blocking out much of the god's form. Speak what you wish, does She even hear you? Are you worth Her time? Does She answer your wails or are you left to stare at the endless white walls, your time here growing more and more pointless? Do you leave without pushing for answers or do you have the will to argue with a God?

Posted 2 years, 1 month ago by aaimasqtch

To The Source

Research teams have returned with their findings and adventurers return with their perilous tales laced among burned fur and scales from the searing heat of the magmatic city.

A rubasyn discovered an ancient temple, wrought with crumbling pillars and stained glass windows that breached the air with bright red beams of light. A massive, gold-dipped battleax was once driven deep into the stone floor, left standing for eternity. What giant beast had wielded it?

IMG_1966.png

A group of three adventured through the streets, brushing their claws across the doomsday murals and contemplating what must have happened in the distant past.

A taroot took an easy route, only searching one of the tiny caves near the protected entrance and coming across a sealed pedestal encasing a small, red crystal. She was unable to get her hands on it.

IMG_2468.png

A sickly lefika went out on her own, finding homes that had been left in a hurry because of all the scattered items. Upon the floor was a diary of a previous occupant, the massive old journal was filled with writing in an unknown language, but it appears to have stopped abruptly.

Untitled304_20220223213728.png

A taroot stayed on the beaten path, aimlessly watching the magma bubble just below the streets. She felt the ancient architecture begin to crumble to dust beneath her delicate weight.

Untitled345_20220307233953.png

A rubasyn followed closely behind the taroot, stopping to inspect the giant scratch marks on the walls. Something big was ripped out of its home, by something even stronger than the colossal itself.

What Ties Together

Those seeking spiritual guidance completed their travels, returning home with plenty on their mind to contemplate what it means to be alive and a creature residing on a god-abandoned world.

A dragon and his skywatcher guide traveled to the bitter and slippery ice planes of the frozen steps, searching for the long-lost palace of ice that Edenlline once built for Her followers.

An old lefika visited the Temple of Onyx and reflected on her past decisions and whether she had truly made the best choices throughout her life and for her son.

A rubasyn traveled far from home to see the grand Cardinal Temple, where he wandered in awe through the river entrance, seeing the giant statues built into the monolithic mountains for the first time.

Chronicles Chapter I

The End's Beginning

To historians, the Pre-History Era is a vague selection of years to describe what they believe to be the time before kin, a time when the Cardinals were testing ideas and developing the nature and cycles of the world. Fossil records are hazy, certain ruins appear to pre-date the Pre-History Era, thus, archeologists are beginning to believe that the Cardinals began to influence Ptitheros much earlier than assumed.

Massive fossilized skeletons are rarely found across Ptitheros. Their skull and wings mimic that of the dragons of Ptitheros, but they are too large. These ‘monsters’ were labeled as Colossals, with one of said species still alive today, swimming lazily in Chaarm Bay. The secrets and purpose behind these giants have stumped scientists for centuries. Were they once a kin species, or were they wild? Perhaps the Cardinals tested out plants and animal designs far larger than the average scale of today? Nobody knows for sure, the accessible tomes of the Ancient Archives hold little information on the topic and the Chaarm Bay Colossal does not speak.

The mystery remained at a stand-still for many years, until now.

Archaeologists have made a discovery. Through the Ancient Archives lies many dark passages that travel deeper and deeper into the planet’s crust. So many of these tunnels remain unexplored, awaiting a daring adventurer to uncover their books and relics. In this age of new technology and taste for new information, Ptithians have uncovered a large passageway lost to time.

The halls bare chiseled stone, ornate gold fillings and round altars full of ash. Fires once bloomed here. A quick breath of flames and the charcoal ignites, casting a cascading flame across all surrounding altars and bring life to the channels along the floor and walls. Magma is thrust from the planet’s mantle deep blow and flows through open-sided channels towards the end of the corridor. A massive door is lit up, the statues beside it sit proudly, holding spears and wearing ornamental armor upon their shoulders and horns. These statues are not Ptithian by design, despite some features matching those of modern-day kin.

Behind the door lies a historian’s dream: an ancient city.

Ptithians had a hard time understanding the statues and the multitude of paintings and carvings that depicted the same mysterious ancient creatures. It was evident that these creatures had lived in this underground, magmatic city, but had they built it too? And why was this place not found in any tome, surely it was important if so much intricate architecture and gold resided within its walls?

The archeologists published their findings and brought in more scientists, researchers, and spelunking experts to assist with finding out about the ancient city.

Choose Your Path

To the Source

You are a researcher (or on a research team). You traverse into the ancient city and get a hands-on experience with the many artifacts, architecture, and mysterious murals found throughout it. The massive citadel rises from a river of lava far, far below, your research team becomes exhausted from the heat and stuffy atmosphere. You discover and claim many pieces of history, returning them to wherever you or your team studies what is recovered. Tread carefully in your explorations of the city; the stone pathways are fragile, crumbling beneath your paws and tumbling down cliffs into the bubbling magma. The ceilings rise high, stalactites hang, water drips and evaporates. This is the dream discovery, what do you find?

What Ties Together

The rumors of what has been discovered and the tales the murals and relics portray has reached the masses. The idea of reconnecting with the Cardinals to ensure the possible painted prophecies aren't true grows stronger and many, including you, decide it is best to visit their Affiliation's place of importance to check for more clues or a sign from the Cardinals. Each Affiliation has different temples that were once home to a Cardinal, at least temporarily. Aura is powerful here, spirits of the past whisper through the walls.

Seeking out new answers is not limited to Affiliates. The Unaffiliated traveled to The Cardinal Temple, a place of worship no matter your ideals, and those loyal to lindosts followed closely behind. All Ptithians seek to study any artwork or old texts they can find.

[Event!] Yuulatune 2021

Posted 2 years, 5 months ago by aaimasqtch

IMG_0704.png

Yuulatune is the grandest winter holiday in Ptitheros! A fascinating array of admiration for the snowy weather, the distant glow of foe lights placed along streetways, and the ever-so-delightful ending where hopes and desires are etched into paper and added to beautiful fabric shawls draped over fantamen who are released into the sky to carry those dreams with them.

A large celebration has been ordered. It appears the maniacial lead of Harvenluna has decided to take a Yuulatune party under his belt this year. Mainly to get back at those who irritated him not long ago. Of course, no lindost has skills handling a holiday meant to be cozy and kind, but it sure as Sage won't be boring.
The Glacial Abyss was chosen to be the perfect location. Its dangerous icy caverns altered heavily by magic and all its archeologists forcefully removed from their studies. What was once a research site not accessible to the public is now a massive, detailed "ice manor" with quaters for guests, giant gallas, and endless frozen corridors. Attendees are provided warm clothing and a powerful thermal rune to stay warm.

A place filled with so much prehistoric history, the Glacial Abyss is one of the largest archeological and fossil sites in the world. Many wonder what the ancestors of Ptithians looked like, long before the Cardinals adapted them to a civilized life.

Events & Activities

Exploring the Glacial Abyss
• Such an event would not be complete without something dangerous hiding within the darkness. Event handlers have closed off any deep entrances into the Glacial Abyss, leaving the many archeology camps abandoned until the party is over. However, warning tape and nailed boards over cavern holes cannot stop a daring explorer. Venture into the deeper crevasses of the icy abyss, far from the safety of the party. Discover why so many archeologists work here and perhaps find something prehistoric frozen in the walls.

Skywatchers' Lights
• On the last night of the event, the honorary lantern show is in full swing. Ptithains gather outside with their illuminated lanterns, the light attracts migrating fantamen, drawing them down in groups to the Ptithians. The paper lights are draped over the graceful animals, who then leave to light the starry night sky, bringing the dreams tied to the lights with them.

Atrium Party
• The atrium of the ice mansion may look chilled, but it magically kept warm (enough). Thick, fluffy blankets and cushions are everywhere. Seating is abundant, the bar is active, the chadalier is bright, and a large fireplace crackles, casting a warm glow against so much blue. Holiday music fills the room.

Shoppe Center
• A large columned corridor filled with little shops sewn into the icy walls. Anyone may set up a shop of their own.

- UNIQUE PROMPTS -

  • Ice Skating
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Sledding
  • By the Fire
  • Hot Springs

PtitherosYuulatuneTraits.png

"A place filled with so much prehistoric history, the Glacial Abyss is one of the largest archeological and fossil sites in the world. Many wonder what the ancestors of Ptithians looked like, long before the Cardinals adapted them to a civilized life." Architects have always taken inspiration from the evolution-filled world of nature. Sometimes evolution produces the creatures that Architects choose as their next kin. Lefikas and rubasyns were two of such circumstances. While the tree of life was magically split when the Cardinals turned wild creatures into sapient kin, the base inspiration used are slightly retained in the genes of the new kin species.

Lessifeals

Requires 2 Prime Fossils

An extinct draconic feline that was double the size of modern lefikás. Their fossils have been found in the Meldra Desert.

Lessifeals were large desert carnivores that hunted karkadanns. They were well-adapted to the arid, hot climate, evident by their fan-like ears and commonly had frills down their back and chest. Lessifeals were nomadic and intelligent for the time they lived in. They formed small packs and could create weapons and simple clothing from the remaining bones and hides from the giant karkadann corpses they had leftover from a hunt.

When Meldr’uno was looking for inspiration after getting rid of His eastern dragons, he saw potential in the lessifeals. Their population was turned into what is now the modern lefika, and their prehistoric genes can sometimes (very rarely) show up.

40933763_pmwRgvfYq8uoMOv.jpg 40933787_E8ng01DvuGs7fr0.png

Rubus

Requires 2 Prime Fossils

An ancient north realm scavenger. Their fossils have been found in the Lowlands and Honeycomb Forest of North Maw Peninsula.

Rubus were carnivorous scavengers who ate what they could find. Very early on, they were the raccoons of Chaveri, often stealing trash and food from the citizens. They tore flesh and defended themselves with sharp latchclaws found on their wrists and heels.

When Edenlline was looking for inspiration for Her new kin, She saw potential in the rubus. Especially because they managed to constantly get into her palace and bother her disciples. Their population was turned into what is now the modern rubasyn, and their prehistoric genes can sometimes (very rarely) show up. A common ancient gene that shows up in rubasyns is the wrist latchclaw.

Harvenluna 2021

Posted 2 years, 7 months ago by aaimasqtch

unknown.png

What is Harvenluna? An event that occurs at twilight and into the night in celebration of the year's food harvest and increase of game to hunt. As time went on the aspect of Harvenluna being about food (completely) has died down thanks to advances in society making food easily available, but the tradition continues on. Harvenluna has a very spooky aesthetic to it, for the night is dark and people are out of their homes to join their communities for food around large fires. Children dress up in bramble, tattered clothes, and masks made to look like briars and other monsters just before heading out; their goal is to scare the adults who are minding their own business. As even more time passed and the scare tactics of the youth became more popular, the aspect of fright during Harvenluna expanded. Ptithians made decorations for their house with creepy tapestries, red paint smeared on doors, but things remained simple- until the lindosts got involved. Then, Harvenluna truly became a night for those seeking a thrill of horror.

Despite it's name, the lindosts' Circus of Horrors isn't always a circus. Their choice of venue could be anything, but it's always what they deem would be terrifyingly fun for their attendees. This year, Steam City will be getting a flood of new people. A large 1920s-esce hotel rests on the edge of a boulder-covered cliff. It is old and overgrown, unused for many years after so many murders and mysteries remain unsolved behind its grand double doors. It is infamous for being haunted and its basement rumored to be filled with starving monsters. The lindosts have set up across the abandoned hotel. Minimally transforming it into an even scarier variation of itself. Vendors, games, parties, and terror are all promised.

Rooftop Party
• Head up the spiraling stairs and watch as the walls get darker and darker. Spindly, hair-like spikes of hardened blood begin to fill the stairway until a breath of fresh air hits your face. You have reached the rooftop of the hotel. The night sky is high above and a grand party is happening.
