Cardinalis (Red Cardinal) (Rebel Richmond)

Being a female Cardinalis most would think that the extreme bouts of anger that is the Cardinal Sin would not affect Rebel as much, but they would be wrong. Rebel is quick to anger with even small things causing her to get irritated. However, she is working with her brother Howie to try to control herself. She still flies into fits of rage from time to time, but if Howie is nearby, then most of the time she can calm down before things get out of hand.

Rebel was born with slightly more red pigmentation in her feathers than many female Cardinalis, but not a terribly uncommon amount. This extra pigmentation is often what her parents would blame whenever she acted out claiming that the Cardinal Sin from her ancestors had a stronger hold on her than most and was why she couldn't control her anger.

Because of this ability to blame her genetics, her parents never really strived to help Rebel learn ways to cope with her anger. She spent most of her childhood flying off the handle and shouting at others whenever she got upset, making most other Animalian not want anything to do with her. This loneliness only compounded the issue, making her even angrier at others and the world for not wanting anything to do with her.

Till about her teens, her parents were able to control things and get her out of all the tight situations she found herself in. However, everything changed when her anger led her to do something that they would be unable to excuse.

She was at school one day when one of her fellow classmates started to tease her telling her that nobody cared for her and that she would always be alone. Unable to take any more of it Rebel flew into the most extreme/ violent rage that she had ever had. Her mind went blank as her Animalian instincts kicked in. The next thing she knew, she held the classmate's limp, dead body in her hands. They were ripped to shreds with blood everywhere. 

As soon as she came to her senses, she dropped the body and ran away in fear. Unsure of where else to go she ran home to her mother crying. After quickly helping her clean herself up and learning what she had done her mother packed her a small bag and told her to run. There was no way they could talk their way out of this one, and she didn't want her daughter to be locked up, or more likely killed, for what she had done. Her mother explained that she loved her and wished her well, pointing out some places on a map that may be good to hide out but that she would never be able to return home. With a final hug goodbye, Rebel left home terrified and far to young and volatile to be on her own.

And that is why her brother Howie decided to leave as well. At first, he stayed back in the shadows looking over her, but eventually, Rebel spotted him and nearly took him out, thinking that he was one of the towns folk here to take her back. After a brief conversation between the two, Rebel agreed to let him stay with her for a bit. She was tired and rugged and needed an extra set of eyes to keep watch at night as well as to hunt for food.  They stayed out in the wilds for a bit, surviving but as winter started to arrive, they knew they needed to find a way to stay in an actual home or risk being frozen to death. 

With help from Howie, Reble was able to find some ways to stay calm and not let her anger and fear take hold. It was just small things like taking deep breaths or trying to focus on something else when she could feel her anger boil up, but these were enough to let the two siblings navigate towns without major issues popping up. She still got angry every now and then, but Howie would always be there to try to stop her from flying off the handle. The two managed to make somewhat of a life together, hunting wild creatures and selling their meat and hides to nearby towns. The hunting helped Reble get a lot of her anger out, and the money allowed them to feed themselves and have a warm place to live. They never stayed in one place long, moving from town to town, following the migration patterns of certain creatures, and always keeping an ear out for anyone that may recognize Reble from their old life.

Deep down, Rebel feels back for taking Howie from the life he could have had at home, but she also knows that she could never survive on her own. There are times that Howie has stepped between her and an Animalian that she was angry at, taking a punch for her and causing her to realize what she is doing. If he hadn't been with her she likely would have been locked up for one reason or another. She has never talked to Howie about why he followed her or why he doesn't return home as she is worried that if she does, he will leave her. 

She works every day on getting her anger under control and is slowly getting better. In every new town the siblings travel to, they will try to find and look up new techniques for calming one's inner rage. Deep down though she worries that if she does get it under control, she will be on her own.

1) if a player wishes to play as Rebel, her call to adventure could consist of her leaving her brother and setting out on her own to find ways to keep calm. She doesn't wish to drag him down with her anymore and wants him to live his own life. So she sneaks off, but unable to do much on her own, she must find an adventuring group to help her survive.

2) alternatively, she could lose her brother in a fight with a creature. She buries him but has to quickly move on as a group of bounty hunters is close on their tails. She finds an adventuring party to hide with till things cool down. However, she may choose to stick with them after.

If no call to action is heeded, Rebel and Howie will spend most of their lives together hunting and living mostly off the land. They are well known in some small communities for being able to take out even the most vicious of beasts. However, on one of these raids, Rebel will take on a creature stronger than her and due to her now controlled calm behavior, does not have the strength of her anger to get her out of the tight spot. Her brother will manage to get away, but she will be devoured by the creature.

Main outfit | Rebel's main outfit consists of white leggings with black shoes that have small black flowers on the toes. She has a black underskirt that has a purple skirt on top of it, both of which are torn from traveling in the wild. She wears a white undershirt with a red spaghetti strap shirt over it and a purple belly band that holds her skirt and shirt together. A black choker sits on the rim of her undershirt. She often can be found with a brown satchel filled with the supplies she needs for the next few weeks. A purple fake flower is often found pinned to the side of her crest. She will take the flower off and try to focus on it when she gets angry as a way to calm herself down.
