Leader of Stormcrest and brother to the Lagopus ruler Cole. Albus is a cheery soul who prides himself on making sure everyone in his small town feels safe and secure. When large events happen in Stormcrest, he goes out of his way to ensure everyone has a good time and that everything happens according to plan. His biggest flaw, however, is that he hates to be the cause of others feeling insecure or worried, even at the detriment of himself or others.
Growing up Albus always looked up to his older brother. His older brother Cole would have grand schemes that were nearly always impossible to obtain and would bring his brother along with him on them. Together the two would do their best to accomplish their missions, such as flying to the moon or hunting down the large beast in the woods. When the adventures would come to an end and they were ultimately unsuccessful, it was always Ablus who would always point out what they had succeeded in, or insist that with maybe a bit of imagination, they had succeeded. Maybe their rocket made out of rocks and leaves couldn't actually make it to the moon, but if they imagined hard enough, then perhaps the small section of woods they were in could be the moon for the next hour.
He did it partly to make his brother happy as he never liked to see him upset, but he also did it because he knew that if his brother gave in to the hopelessness, then their adventures would come to an end, and he would do anything within his power to prevent that. Despite Albus's best efforts, as the years moved on, he and his brother grew out of their whimsical missions. Like they always do, other things became more important such as romantic interests and money. But this isn't to say all their adventures stopped, they just became more practical.
Rather than trying to go to the moon, Cole would want to put on a grand party for the town to pick spirits up during the darker winter days and Albus would always be right their next to his brother doing his best to make sure everything happened as planned. Together there was very little the two brothers couldn't do and what their next big project would be was always a highlight of their small towns.
Doing big things for their small town was enough for Ablus, however, his brother could not be contained to only having a small effect on the world around him. One day Cole approached Ablus and told him that he wanted to be the next Lagopus leader. Internally Albus was terrified at the thought, this was something much larger than they had ever tried to attempt. It would take years to set everything up and even then, the title of Lagopus leader was a highly sought-after position, and there would be many very qualified Lagopus going after it when the position next opened up. But externally, Albus didn't miss a beat and promised he would do everything he could to make sure that his brother would become the Lagopus leader.
And with that the two brothers went to work. While Cole started to rub shoulders with important Lagopus and learned how to act outside of a small town, Albus moved to Stormcrest, often considered to be the heart of the Lagopus and their legend. At first, he was just there to get information on some of the most powerful Lagopus and keep an eye on what were the hot issues for many of the more vocal Lagopus as well as keep an ear out for any opinions Lagopus were forming about Cole, but he quickly fell in love with the city and the Animalian within it.
Storm crest was larger than his hometown, but it still wasn't massive. As he got to know the townspeople, he found his small-town heart wanting to help them and take care of them. He got to know everyone that lived there on a first-name basis and was known for always being willing to drop everything he was doing to help others out, be it a big issue or small. Because of his warm heart and willingness to take action, he soon became the town leader with hardly any opposition from any of the towns folk.
Although it wasn't what they had originally planned on, Albus was still able to help his older brother while setting his roots down in Stormcrest. As Albus went about helping the town and his brother, he made it his mission, only second to helping his brother, to help ease one of the largest tensions within the town. A problem in many Lagopus-heavy towns, the problem was the large divide between the white and blue morph Lagopus.
Albus did his best to ease tensions between the two groups within the town and would go out of his way to bridge the anger between them that went back centuries. Trying to prove they could live in peace together, he would do things such as making sure always to go out wearing both of the Vulpes' colors and married a blue morph Lagopus. He would try to be a mediator between the two groups anytime fights would start and spearheaded events where the two groups would have to work together. It took years, but eventually, he got most of the town to put down their differences and try to see things from the perspectives of the others.
At first he was content with achieving his goal with the small town. However, when his brother also achieved his dream of becoming the Lagopus leader, Cole tasked him with trying to help unify the whole Lagopus subspecies. Never one to turn a plan from his brother down Albus started to form a plan to reach the Lagopus as a whole. His first mission was still to support his older brother and make sure to report back to him about any negivite press Cole was getting, but after the work for his brother was done he would focus on this new one. Knowing that going out to try to talk to and reach all the Lagopus outside of the town would be a fruitless goal, he instead started an event in the town, causing other Lagopus to come to him that still runs to this day.
Once a year on the date of the original Lagopus legend the town of Stormcrest holds a celebration for a full week where anyone that wishes to, be it Lagopus or other subspecies, compete against each other to see who can beat the brothers of their legends feats as well as compete against each other.
This event often draws many Lagopus to it and it can host hundreds of Animalia. Albus hopes that competing with one another and proving that the two different Lagopus morphs aren't that different will help bridge the gap between them. When at the event the self-segregation of the two morphs is still quite evident, however, if anyone starts a fight be it verbal or physical they are instantly dealt with. If the fight is bad then they can even be jailed till they cool off or till the event is finished. If the fighting doesn't let up they can be banished from the town and never allowed to return.
During these events is when Albus is most stressed. His brother was the one that was good at taking the spotlight, where he tends to prefer working with others on an individual level, still, he tries his best. In fact, some would say he occasionally goes to far in an attempt to make sure the event goes smoothly.
Albus is one of the main characters in 'the story of the artic fox' one shot and should not be used as a character if a player is taking part in that one shot. In any other game-
1) if a PC (player character) wishes to play as Albus in their game, his call to action could consist of him feeling like his efforts around Stormcrest are not enough and that to truly bridge the gap between the white and blue morph Lagopus he will have to go out in the world and try to show people they are the same subspecies. This goes for showing both Lagopus and any other subspecies who will listen.
2) Alternatively he would instantly leave Stormcrest if his brother went missing or asked him to do something. He would put down everything and leave his family without hesitation for his brother.
If no call to adventure is heeded Albus will spend a good number of years in Stormcrest trying to help unify the Lagopus subspecies. However, during one of their yearly events an assassin will stab him in the back in order to weaken his brother.
Main outfit | Albus's outfit consists of a light brown pair of pants with a pair of brown boots over top of them. His main jacket buttons up on his right side and is a rich brown color with gold trim, the sleeve also has cuffs. His belt is dark blue with a gray clasp and a white pouch sits on his left hip. The pouch has a black button and hangs from his belt and is not built into it. He also is constantly wearing 2 scarves, a dark blue and a white one. On top of his head sits a gold bowler hat with a light gray band. On his face you can often find a smile, however if you look closely you may see some panic behind his eyes.
