Orchestra of Heaven

Seven instruments created by the god of this world, Cievo.

What are they?
They are described by the sages as a "teleportation cheat" but in reality, the scope of their powers is much more than that. They are fragments of the very engine that Cievo used to shape the known universe. The reason they're referred to a teleportation cheat is simple: when assembled, the seven members that make up the Orchestra can open a portal to any conceivable location. This is not limited to a universal level, but a multiversal one.

Myths and Legends
It is spoken of in myth that the first maestros were brought to this world upon the wish of a resonator, though this was dismissed as a mere story even in ancient times. What is verifiable fact is they have made appearances throughout history, their final appearance being in the early nineteenth century AR.

Traits and Abilities
The Orchestra of Heaven, being parts of a system that sculpted all that is known are beings of immense power. Their power was so great that many myths and legends were derived from their appearances. From the great fire bird known as the phoenix or the massive sea leviathan, these beasts of legend were based on traits that the Orchestra of Heaven possessed. Each member of the orchestra has a form resembling a musical instrument and a child-like human form. In their "human" form, they have a pseudo personality that informs their decision making and allows them to act autonomously. This is referred to as a pseudo-personality because they're not truly living beings, but tools used by Cievo.

Outside of the aforementioned ability to open portals, each orchestra member, when held, provides unlimited rhythm to its holder as long as either the maestro is bonded to a resonator of the same element OR the resonator themselves are the same element. As with other ethereals, they are immortal, however unlike ethereals whose bodies can be disrupted and sent back to the Realm of the Composer, the Orchestra of Heaven is entirely indestructible, being able to survive even the crushing pressure of a black hole without much issue.

Another "mode" of the Orchestra members is for them to act like a resonator. In which case they will be in this mode until their present owner is killed or a super majority is claimed (See section on ownership below). When acting as a resonator, they're formidable and top of their class in combat. They have access to every spell within their element (including both ultimates if applicable) as well as access to all healing and shielding spells (They do not possess access to the healing and shielding ultimates). However, when acting as a resonator, they lack the infinite rhythm potential of their proper ethereal form and while formidable in all combat statistics, they can be felled in battle (though killing or destroying them is still a complete impossibility.)

There is also a myth that is commonly dismissed by the wider academic community that the Orchestra of Heaven that is accessible by mortal hands is only the tiniest sliver of their true power and they have a secondary "administrator mode" which unlocks their full, universe shaping abilities. Though with the disappearance of the Orchestra of Heaven, we may never know if this is fact or fiction.

Disappearance
As mentioned previously, all seven members that make up the Orchestra of Heaven vanished in the nineteenth century AR. There is fierce debate as to the actual reasoning, but it was widely confirmed at the time that they did indeed disappear from the world. There are people who have spent their entire lives fruitlessly looking for them. In reality, they were sent to a rift between worlds to sleep for all time. Though, there is potential to break them loose from the rift that they're trapped in, though there is nothing that says they will be returned to the world they once inhabited, and it is accepted that they have the potential to end up in any number of alternate worlds depending on the circumstances of their release.

Ownership
A facet of the orchestra is their ownership. Due to the nature of their pseudo-personality, they have very little in the way of self-worth and are completely fine with being treated as objects. It was said their individual pseudo-personalities were developed by the many people who owned them in the past. Their ownership "data" as it were is cleared and they return to their instrument form upon one of two conditions being met:

  • Their current owner dying
  • The successful assembly of the Seven

Ownership can be determined in many ways, but typically it's the first person to take hold of their instrument. In the event of multiple competing entities being nearby the ownership will not be registered until the conflict has been resolved. When ownership is taken, the "mode" (mentioned above) is set until the ownership data is cleared. Finally, should one person or group obtain super majority ownership over the orchestra, the remaining three will swap ownership over to the majority leader. Throughout history such consolidation of power has led to ruin, so obtaining a super majority has typically been avoided.
