These whirlpools are causing a lot of problem to the local water sources and obtaining water. Its easy for a lion to get sucked in and if the water's deep enough- they can certainly get gravely injured as a result. How does your pride/hero handle such an inconvenient natural occurrence?

Day 5C - Sea

Bora was using his magic, for what it was worth... though not for battle, exactly. That isn't to say his abilities have no use within combat - Far from it, really - but he was simply taking a more... indirect approach. Which Tamaya was growing increasingly frustrated with.
But, if she stopped to think about it, she had to admit that he was at least doing something. Those ice powers of his... they couldn't do much about the trees, but they had potential with the whirlpools. Granted, it was an unorthodox approach, but by directing his powers correctly, he could effectively freeze the whirlpools solid, or at least freeze them into their own little pockets of water so that the other cats and lions and foxes and hyenas could, to some extent, avoid getting sucked into them unless they went diving directly in.
Of course, these solutions were only temporary. The ice would melt, given enough time, and even before then, more whirlpools seemed to be appearing at a steady rate. All the freezing in the world couldn't stop them entirely... at least, not unless he froze the entire surface of every body of water in the area several feet deep. And that would cause its own set of problems.
Eventually, the smilodon huffed and shook his head. He could only do so much. It was like a hydra - For every one whirlpool he managed to nullify, two more seemed to appear elsewhere. It was simply too unsafe to be in the water right now. The residents of the sea kingdom, being able to breathe underwater as they were, would likely be fine so long as they stayed away from the surface, but that simply wasn't an option for the rest of them, at least until Neptune figured out some magic of his own to allow them to survive beneath the waves - And even then, getting down there without being tossed about would be no easy feat, at this rate. Defeated, all he could do at this point was sit and eye the ocean with contempt.
"...Still not gonna give either of us powers?" Tamaya asked quietly.
"I've told you," he said with a sigh, "that is beyond my jurisdiction. Even if I am capable of it, that's not a choice I can simply make. There are rules to this, checks and balances-"
"Bureaucratic time wasting," Nahia commented dryly. She glared at her mentor. "They do realize that people are gonna die if this keeps up, right? Either they need to intervene, or they need to let us intervene."
Bora was silent. They might have known, or they might not have. Even if they did... chances are, they didn't care. They hadn't cared before, after all. If they had, he might not have been the last. More likely, they were content to simply watch this entire thing go down, not caring how many lives were lost in the process. They weren't mortal any more, anyway. What care had they if a few hundred or thousand or more average people died? Why should it bother them if those poor, pitiful mortals' existence was wiped from the world? Such events... they were nothing new to them.
But he chose not to get into that now. It surely wouldn't help things if he did. Instead, he simply changed the topic. "We each have our parts to play. You should resume your training, if you can find a place to safely do so," he said. "I will remain here, and attempt to rescue any who fall in."
Nahia rolled her eyes. "Not much of an intervention," she complained.
"It's better than nothing, though," Tamaya jumped in with. "C'mon, Nahia. Let's see if we can find some rocklings to smash."
She was sick of sitting here watching the world end, anyway.
