The Beyond Project
There's a Universe for Everything.
The Beyond Project is an immense and ever-growing amalgamation of characters, settings, and ideas maintained by multiple people. It is less the story of an individual or group and more a collection of interlaced tales taking place across several multiverses. Characters, settings, and eras come and go but nothing is truly detached from everything else. Within every storyline, there is something just beyond the current viewpoint; a separate telling of the same tale, an alternate outcome, or an unknown reason. The settings and genres range from various forms of original fantasy; From a "present-day" Earth riddled with the supernatural, a SciFi-Esque science fantasy era in which Earth is but a distant mystery, to a fantasy world nestled within a dying universe that refuses to go out silently.

Beings of Aethyll, Umbri, and of the universe itself. These characters exist in differing universes and across wildly different time periods, playing roles both major and minor in various stories across the set of universes. To equate their power, knowledge, and roles to that of deities would not be incorrect, though even these beings are not truly immortal, omnipotent, or omniscient.

The name of this ubiquitous organization is ever changing and completely dependent upon region and person, but for simplicity's sake they will be referred to as the Global Government. This group is responsible for keeping the more supernatural elements of earth hidden from the general public as well as supporting those very same supernatural groups. Their history is tied to the development of culture across the world, and also shrouded in mystery and conflicting origin stories.
Think of a more laid-back combination of the Illuminati, men in black, and the SCP foundation.

A well-regarded biological research facility which conducts studies on various topics in biology including broad research into bio-engineering, genetics, disease, and others of the more supernatural sort. The facility and it's staff are affiliated with a brand of DNA tests and several noteworthy research papers, but also work with supernaturally-affiliated groups, often in secret, such as the Global Government, Windgate, and possibly HIDEN. Nefarious plots and immoral experiments are hidden amid legitimate research and unbeknownst staff, and even with extensive scrutiny, it would prove difficult to isolate these elements.
