A.[505 Words]
As Letaba and Diablo headed through the tunnels they didn’t get to explore on the first few days. They felt guilty with all the off stares from the passing cats as if it was a sign not to be there anymore or just to not go that way. Either way it was not helping Letaba at all Diablo noted mentally seeing the heavenly lioness still being depressed that her mate was not by her side. But the wafting stench of decay infiltrated the tunnels and Diablo found it was quite odd. Maybe it was some of the left over skvader rotting but he feared it was much more then the cats and lions were letting on.

But they both continued on to explore even when Letaba kept telling him she had a horrible feeling about this yet he still reassured her that he would defend and protect her just as much as Achilles would. The day is spent with many soldiers building walls, strengthening their defenses, and keeping a wary eye on those who could be led astray. But that doesn’t stop Diablo and Letaba from going deeper and deeper into the tunnels that smelled of rotting carcass and wooden bits.

But then they came to the end and to the heart of the trees root systems. And there.... there was were the smell of death and decay was the strongest. They wood darkened and knotted with decay. Yet Letaba’s blood ran colder when she noticed that it had been like that for a while now. She managed to get Diablo to agree about one thing to head back. They were just about to when the stench of decay got stronger and stronger to the point it was beating off the heart of tree’s roots in waves. As Diablo turned around he saw soldiers of the decayed army began to lurk from the shadows. Apparently staging a ambush on cats who wanted to explore this particular tunnel.

It was unnerving to the two new best friends, how did they get in here? When did they get in here? Did they sneak in when the first wave of venom-ous  wood and soil chipped creatures attacked?

Diablo’s claws flexed out as Letaba stood rigid behind him. The poor lioness was so stricken with fear that she couldn’t fight. So Diablo did all the fighting for her. Left and right he was taking out decaying soldiers and managed to whip out half in a mere hour. After having open gashes Diablo ,Letaba finally got to her senses and started shredding the onslaught of decaying warriors and generals alike. The two quickly wiped through the ambush and sprinted back through the tunnels they came through and into the medical bay gasping for air. Till a angel named Koman arrived and patched them up before whispering his blessing over the two lions who looked like they had the biggest brush of death. Yet he recognized Letaba’s angelic aura that faced her enemy’s  head on with out calling for help or fleeing backwards.

B.[505 Words]

Achilles glances over at his allies while dreaming over the safety of his mate but he still cleared his throat and asked a simple question,“How may I be of service?” The tree looked confused at him and his allies who had piped up there agreements as if no one had asked the tree decay god in his life time to assist in his wishes.

The tree looked at the lions and dismissed them with a simple furrow of it’s glowing eyes as it continuously mumbled about preparing to lessen the goddess tree’s forces and to prepare for the future battle of all battles.

The crowd around it going to their own versions of what this means. Achilles caught some of them fighting amongst each other- perhaps sparring like the ancients of his sub pride used to do. Others who are making weapons and armor, some who are scouting and patrolling the grounds. But Achilles wanted to make sure he got a little bit of everything in with his allies. So he followed them to collect supplies and made reinforcements to straps on his armor and added red vines he dyed with fruits he found to the top of his spartan helmet before putting it on.

Achilles nodded to Alexander and started sparring with the massive lion at least he didn’t have to worry about a full mane but his ankle wings sure hurt when they got bit. After a few hours of constant sparring the two decided to rest with a nice patrolling session in the dead woods. Achilles frowned as he noticed the life less features of the desolate place and that nerved him. It all nerved him especially that his mate was with Diablo. He didn’t want her to be snatched out from under his paws but he would willingly loose his soul to protect the archangel.

As the two passed dark bramble of thorns, they catch sight of a small oasis. A beautiful bough of flowering trees and life, in the middle -a soldier of this rot that's aged to the point it's fallen to pieces, only its eyes showing through a pile of soil and a flower atop its head. Though its been taken over by these plants, it seems content. Achilles let out a girlish scream before getting laughed at by Alexander,“Dude it’s not that funny. That genuinely scared me I all most stepped on his head. He’s trying to find a nice spot to die and I don’t think he needs me stamping all over him!” He hissed quietly as Alexander was having a laughing fit until they reached the pile of objects.

The two bowed to the Warrior before each taking a pick from the pile. Alexander picked himself out a cape that could turn him invisible so he could attack all enemies. And Achilles well he picked a scroll from the pile as he wanted to fight fair and well he wanted to read more into what was happening in this portal for the future upcoming battles.
