Love at first rock?: [1006/1000]

As new days dawned for the newly formed trio they awoke to a soft glittering orb that constantly knocked into the noses of Ubbe and Ivar. The two woke up with snorts and Skarde nudging rocks for them to eat as breakfast foods. She meant well but every time Ubbe attempted to crunch on it he quickly spit back out as Ivar rolled his eyes watching the daft fools he bestowed friendship to try to make the beast of a lioness in front of them happy. Ubbe just smiled and caught a few mouses,“Skarde, eat these if you want to work on seeming normal. You will have to stop eating rocks.”

Skarde simply tilted her head as she sniffed the tiny dead creatures. She licked at the little mice before crunching the whole thing down bones and all. Ubbe blinked in slight amazement at how the bones didn’t affect her. Skarde continued wolfing down the mice and licked the blood off her muzzle like she had seen Ivar do, which resulted in her pissing him off thinking she was mocking him. But she didn’t care as she scampered off with him to go find real lion food. Ubbe simply sighed before draping his tail over her with a smile,“I suppose I can teach you to do some bigger hunting, since we did expand your vocabulary a little. And we do have time to reconvene with the expedition as we caught wind of their scents last night.”

Skarde smiled and nodded her,“We. Go. Hunt. Elk.” She formulated with her still broken language with a raised head as she was proud to make a sensible sentence that a young mewling cub spew out easily. Ubbe nodded,“ We will.” He said before tugging her into the dry brush as he caught wind of a herd getting their last months of grazing before they would soon be migrating. Ubbe whispered softly,“Now Skarde, you will chase the herd this way while I catch the weakling. And then we can tag team, all right.” Skarde nodded before mumbling a full all right with no breaks in the sentence which made Ubbe tackle her with joy. Her first full sentence with no stutters or such and it was beautiful in her mentors eyes. Skarde blinked with her four eyes and smiled flicking her tail, sadly they had scared off all the dear but they did tumble there way back to Ivar where Ubbe shouted the good news and made Skarde repeat the two words she uttered perfectly.

Ivar snarled,“Shut up and let’s go we need to start traveling again if we want to catch up with them.” Ubbe sighed softly and nodded not saying anything but giving a small nuzzle to Skarde to cheer the glowering gal up. But the orb had remained by Ivar’s side the entire time before landing sweetly on Skarde’s nose to lead the way. Yet she didn’t want to, not one bit at all.Its trail takes the lions far into a little visited area of their lands, somewhere inconspicuous and generally not investigated thoughrally. Following the orb through their territory, it leads the way to a rock wall face. It at first appears to go nowhere and the trail seems to have ended. The grass and trees around this area seems dead, as if the life was drained from it. Just like when the meteor hit, the creatures here are uncomfortably quiet, as if everything avoids this place.

Skarde flicked her tail sheepishly as she continued leading the mortals along the purple lioness accidentally found a switch with her massive clunky paws. The last thing she heard was Ubbe cry out to see if she was okay and luckily the lioness was but now she was struggling to ground herself as rocks started crumbling underneath her paws. Ubbe grabbed her by her scruff and launched her into the air before trotting to catch her with his back. A noble sacrifice for a noble lioness he cared deeply about but could never bring the words to her since he still was foreign to her lifestyle. But Ivar was more focused on the rocks crumbling, to the earth, revealing a long dark tunnel leading deep into the rocky face. It's too dark and deep to make out what's inside. There is cold air emitting from this place, regardless of the weather outside- and inside there is a faint humming.

Skarde began to seem distressed, hanging back away from the entrance she didn’t  seem terribly interested in coming along. But seeming to put a brave front on it stumbles over to stare down into the tunnel. "Go. We, Go. Stop Hiding." it decided. Motioning with its paw downward. As fear resulted in her lion speak to go back to its beginning stages of broken stuttered sentences. Everything in the lion's beings were screaming at them that this is a bad idea. Their paws tingle as if the ground itself is trying to pull them in. As if the earth is restless.

Ivar bared his fangs,“Move forward, the orb is gone and the expedition scent is around here.” He said exasperated of everything and that Ubbe was now lovesick over a creature that could easily break his heart if she wanted too. Skarde reluctantly nodded and walked forward slowly before feeling Ivar bite her tail to make her trot faster which resulted in her crying out in shock.

As they all went in head first because of the floating orb that Skarde had brought to life by simply eating a rock. Ivar was quite suspicious of everything and well with a sharp bite in the right direction they continued moving on with or without their lousy expedition party they had formed to chase this imposter they adopted. But as the went deeper the light started receding and the constant humming was growing louder in the lions sensitive ears. Was it another imposter formed lion, a faulty gift from the gods. But luckily this day for Ubbe and Skarde was going a lot better.
