Iso's OC Question of the Day

Posted 8 years, 4 months ago (Edited 6 years, 10 months ago) by Isoprene

Listen, there's nothing I love more than answering random questions about my OCs and seeing other people answer random questions about their OCs. Conveniently, I also love coming up with random questions and asking them. So, hey, why not make it a daily event? In this thread I'll post a question every day, all of them related to OCs! Sometimes it'll be about your feelings about your OCs ("who's your favorite oc?" or "who was your first oc?") and sometimes it'll be questions asked toward your OCs themselves ("what are your ocs' favorite colors?" or "would your ocs rather fight one horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?"). You can answer in-character or out of character, answer for multiple characters or just one, whatever you want!

I'll try to ask these early in the day, and you're always welcome to answer any ones that you've missed! Feel free to answer as many as you want at once; just be sure to label which question you're answering! I also have a huge list of questions waiting in the wings, but if you have any questions you'd like to see asked feel free to message me and I'll credit and ping you if I end up using your question!

In affiliation with necessaryocthings, run by reinapepiada!

Q1. Who was the first OC you made a profile for on Toyhouse? Why them?

The first OC I made a profile for here was Dicro Corrune! He's the most well-known OC of mine amongst my friends (most of my friends don't have a lot of profiles up yet but he'd have the most links), is probably my most important character overall even though I have like 50 different OC universes and he's only connected to a few, and if he's not my favorite OC overall he's pretty darn close. There's a lot of me in him, too, so I feel like putting him up first provides a decent insight into both the kind of person I am and the kind of characters you'll probably see from me. Plus he has the most images, the most writing, is the most fun to RP with, and is one of my oldest active OCs... it was an obvious choice for me!

Q64: If your OCs were in a video game, what genre would it be?

Now that I think about it, my Viesse nerds would definitely be an rpg mixed with a game like Fantasy Life somehow??? I mean Alexandre's a tailor and Mayda's learning how to be a bartender. Look the skills i gave my viesse nerds make it look like itd be an rpg ok. doesn't help that i'm making their world map on an rpgmaker either....... lmao..... look it's an rpg but also kind of slice-of-life-ish in a way. leave me alone i can't word properly

ON THE OTHER HAND, Lazul and Lapis would definitely fit in a TWEWY-like game. Isoprene pointed that out to me one time that both of them look like they could fit in TWEWY and tbh she's right.... damn. it's not a bad thing though the game's pretty cool B)

And then my pokemon fan-characters are kinda self-explanatory, though Spark would stick out like a sore thumb thanks to the new flesh husk he was given. And also the fact that i think he's still technically a bag of soul juice since he used to be, iunno, dead??? like his soul was just kind of there you know.

i need more donuts......

EDIT: I FORGOT THE NEWER QUESTION.

Q65: Which OC of yours does the most reading?

Definitely Alice, but her situation's complicated. She's not exactly allowed to leave the forest. She can leave the cabin and explore the forest as long as she isn't seen, but she's afraid of accidentally stepping into a town, yet at the same time is curious to visit one. She wants to see what the world's like, but is afraid that someone will find and kill her. So if she's not climbing trees in the forest she's basically reading books in the cabin! This question also applies to Sarina and Coye, mostly the former. Sarina's currently still studying, and occasionally Coye tried his best to help her with whatever she's lost on, but mostly because she's afraid to ask anyone else for help. Sarina definitely loves reading novels though! If comics were a thing in her world she'd probably enjoy them a lot too tbh

I need to get back to work on everyone's profiles someday, none of them are 100% complete djskg

edit 2: I forgot to clarify that Viesse would definitely be an etrian odyssey-like rpg! a lot of the worldbuilding i did for it accidentally gave off those vibes and when finally noticed it, i was like "nice" i love etrian odyssey ok

Q65: Which OC of yours does the most reading?

Well, Edward and Erik both do a lot of reading for school, Ed being a grad student in literature and linguistics and Erik just being a very responsible college freshman that hasn't picked out a major yet. Ed likely does way more reading total, but Erik also likes reading for fun whereas Ed would prefer to do other things when he seldom takes breaks. Lee also reads quite a bit in his free time, and more recently he's taken up reading to Jasper, who would otherwise be illiterate, so the two often read a chapter or two together every day.

Nathan does a lot of reading since it's one of the few hobbies he can use to escape the world for a bit with. He particularly loves history and this trove of tomes he's discovered detailing demonic society, which he initially thinks is just a very fascinating and well thought out fictional world or a society based in myth and very well documented. He's read so much that he's completely fluent in reading and writing the demonic languages he's found in the books, but of course he couldn't speak it since they're only books and have no indication of actual pronounciation. Reagan reads magical tomes all the time and is always learning new spells, techniques, etc. He gets so into his reading that his housemaid can rearrange his entire living space (including the chair he's currently sitting in) and he wouldn't notice.

Q63. Which OC of yours is the most prone to illness?

Arbor! Poor bean grew up sickly and it persists in his adulthood. Luckily there aren't that many things to bring new diseases to Paradise Island, but if they do wind up there... chances are, Arbor is going to catch them. Whatever they might be. Rento's also prone to getting sick, but it's more because of his bad luck than out of his body being weak.

Q64: If your OCs were in a video game, what genre would it be?

WELL, given that half of them I have wishing I could finish up a visual novel for them... yeah. Visual novels! Though for my boys Friech and Berette, I think an open world exploration game/RPG would work pretty well. :D What else you gonna do with an airship at your disposal than explore?? And do fetch quests. Soooo many fetch quests.

Q65: Which OC of yours does the most reading?

Thinking about it while I pore over my characters... not that many of them read for fun? It's weird. Cat reads a lot of scholarly journals as well as textbooks and reports on sciencey stuff because he wants to keep on top of things, Bonaventure reads, uh, a lot of reports and whatnot for work. Mero reads a lot for his classes as well as to work on his own abilities. Those are the ones that probably read the most out of all of my characters.

gotta squeak a question in here between reading about cartographical discourse and putting clip art of sea monsters and suns with sunglasses all over my GIS lab... the life of a geography major is a truly glamorous one. so, time for a vaguely geographical question!

Q66. Which OC of yours has the best sense of direction? The worst?

Essentially, who's the best at finding their way around even in unfamiliar places, and who could probably get lost in their own house?

helmsless

Q66. Which OC of yours has the best sense of direction? The worst?

Lewin has the best sense of direction! He's a filthy cheater, though, he totally gets his seagulls to help him... no, he's always out at sea so he's gotten used to telling direction without visible landmarks or otherwise. Worst sense of direction is probably Gaskin... he has no concept of it. You would think his animal instincts might help him out, but noooooo.

Isoprene

the hype for pokemon sun and moon is real even though all we have are names... so here's a vaguely relevant question!

Q67. Do you have any OCs that are morning people? How about night owls?

i gotta answer my own questions but i also gotta play a bajillion video games... damn you video game industry for eating all of my time and money but also thank you, i love you

TheLadyAnatola

Q66. Which OC of yours has the best sense of direction? The worst?

I imagine Gage and Caltharsis both have very good sense of direction when it comes to being outdoors. They can find their way around new territory very easily, but I think they'd be about normal or average when it comes to navigating more modern cities or indoor spaces. Clay on the other hand is very good at navigating cities and always finds what he's looking for, and he even finds "good" things he's not particularly looking for, which makes finding new scoops easier on him.

Now, Xel is always getting himself lost. He has a horrible sense of direction if he can't fly up and get a good view of the area to help him out, and he doesn't have any sense of how to determine north from south since the planet he comes from is weird and can't really use stars as guidance and the dual suns that orbit the planet have no set pattern of movement, so there's not even an east-west sunset/rise thing to go off of. It's probably why he is rarely seen without Gage, otherwise he'd never get anywhere. On the bright side, he's pretty good at taking care of himself when he does get lost for a long while, so it's more of an inconvenience than anything else.

Q67. Do you have any OCs that are morning people? How about night owls?

I probably have too many night owls to feasibly name all of them. XD I think overall quite a few of my demon characters, especially the vampires, can be considered night owls, but obviously not all of them. Night owls are definitely more common than morning people. But for morning people, Adrian prefers to get up very early and turns in rather early for the night. Kara is very much a morning person as well since the classes she is a GTA for are mostly morning classes, and although she does like the occasional party at night, she tends to turn in earlier than most people. Oddly enough my vampire Vahlent is totally a morning person, and he loves sunrises. Good for him...? ^^;

Q68. Which OC of yours has the strongest sense of justice?

Though it usually comes as a surprise to others, definitely Umbra. She spends most of her time pretending to be a villain, kidnapping and killing and generally making her fellow Competitors hate her. The truth is that she does this because of her sense of justice; she wants to protect everyone in the Test Reality and free them from the Competition. She wants to win so she can take down Opine and ensure the Tested won't spend the rest of eternity serving as her playthings. But she knows most of the Tested are kind and don't want to fight and kill each other. She doesn't want to, either, but she knows the only way the Competition will end in any reasonable amount of time is if someone plays the villain. So, in order to protect and defend those she cares about, she's taken it upon herself of shouldering the burden of uniting everyone against a common cause.

Even though she's usually playing the villain, her sense of justice and goodwill shines through often. She'll apologize to those she kills, created the Oresses so everyone would be able to defend themselves, refuses to target children, makes sure everyone's deaths are quick and painless, and she treats everyone with honor and respect, from her allies to her foes.

Zhirael is a close second, if not tied for first. Justice is what fuels him, and his life's work revolves around ensuring that everyone in his world is treated fairly. He's currently plotting to overthrow Heaven for stifling humanity's creativity and ambition, as the Higher Angels fear if they let humans develop freely they'll wriggle out from under their thumbs. He wants humans to be allowed to control their own fates, even if that means they end up destroying the peaceful utopia that Heaven has created for them. He's very interested in the plights of mortals in general and often campaigns for the better treatment of them by fellow demons and other higher beings. It's perfectly fine (and often necessary) for demons to prey on human souls, he certainly won't question that, but he thinks they ought to treat mortals with more respect. Their lives are so intricate despite their shortness, and that's something he wants to defend and encourage others to appreciate.

Porphyra is also worth noting... sorta. She'll hotbloodedly go on about JUSTICE!!!! for hours, but for the most part she's just playing a role. She doesn't actually care much about upholding justice or defending the weak or bringing fairness to all blah blah blah, she just likes being allowed to beat people up while getting paid for it.

TheLadyAnatola

Q68. Which OC of yours has the strongest sense of justice?

I'd say Mac has the strongest sense of justice. Along with being the "son" of the God of Life, he is simply a friendly and compassionate person that can't stand to see others suffering or being oppressed. He spent his life traveling all over and helping anyone that needed it wherever he went, and he ultimately gave his life to protect the Eternity from utter destruction. Mara was his partner and best friend throughout this, so they face adversity together, and although she does have a strong sense of justice as well, she also did all this for the glory and to prove how amazing she was, and is. XP Kiama is also a very just person, along with all of the other direct agents of Lord Dalia, the God of Life. Kiama is his right hand man and serves as a sort of archangel of the Eternity who protects the realm.

Aside from the more godly characters and such, I'd say Shinda, Drein, and Jones are some of the more just people I have at the moment. Shinda was turned into a vampire and enslaved by a false Goddess of Death and was forced to fight in what is known as the First War, which is the war that Mac gave his life in to defeat that false Goddess. Since then, Shinda will not stand for any sort of oppression, and although he tends to keep to himself and not interact with others much, he won't hesitate to protect others if he sees them in trouble. Drein came from an abusive and unstable home, and after he ran away he was taken in and accepted by the members of the small town he now lives in. He doesn't have a lot of self value, but he is grateful to them for helping someone like him, and since then he's dedicated his life to helping others in a way to return the favor for the generosity given to him, and also to make sure no one has to suffer like he did. Jones is the best detective in his city, and he's had a perfect record with catching criminals. He's kind of a cold and gruff person, but he really hates criminals or people that think they are above the law, and by association can't stand it when justice isn't properly served. His disdain for injustice has definitely rubbed off on Clay too.

Isoprene

alright i'm 12 years old let's get this question over with

Q69. Which OC of yours is the most sexually active?

Out of the characters I have here, there's no contest: Bonnie and Zhirael win this one. Though I guess it's kind of complicated; during their story itself they don't have sex at all until maybe the end for Plot Reasons™ (it makes sense in context), but afterward in the RPverse and in any theoretical spinoffs the sexual aspect of their relationship is pretty active. It's not the biggest part of their relationship or something that's necessary for them to be satisfied with each other, but Zhirael really likes spoiling Bonnie and, well, Bonnie really likes being spoiled.

Euanthe and her girlfriend see a similar amount of action, but a little less so since they're busy trying to save the world. Like with Bonnie and Zhirael, sex isn't inherently super important to their relationship or anything, but they both find it fun and Breccia likes spoiling someone who seems so unused to being spoiled.

Dicro is also worth mentioning; his subconscious exploration takes him to a lot of interesting places, and his modus operandi is to go with the flow and do whatever the subconscious he's in wants him to do. He doesn't want to make himself noticed or disrupt anything, after all. He adamantly refuses to talk about these particular sorts of adventures and is basically this image all the time. It doesn't help that he finds sexual pleasure in a lot of things that most people wouldn't find sexual, and Bonnie is a relentless kinkshamer so he keeps everything on the DL even though he'd like to be more open and find sexual gratification more often and in healthier ways.

LadyLatias

I have a ton of questions to catch up on. xD

Q62. Are any of your OCs in relationships?

Most of my characters have romantic relationships going on, whether it's currently happening, or being set up for the near future. x) However, a huge chunk of them are paired up with my husband's characters. xD I'll just list the pairings among my own characters/OC x canon pairings. I'll also not include characters that have/had temporary relationships with someone else. Just the permanent couples. (Not everyone is listed, but not everyone's profiles are finished or available for viewing yet~)

  • Alexander x Sam (my OTP forever and ever ahhh)
  • Carl x Kip (Kip has a very close relationship with Bix too. Also with one of my husband's characters. She's... kinda polyamorous?)
  • Liam x Novy (Liam is promiscuous and sexes anything he can pounce on, but he is deeply attached to Novy and will always return to her.)
  • Llylithen x Calandrath (OC x canon pairing, oops~ Llylithen is also promiscuous, but only has real romantic feelings for Calan.)
  • Nascour x Kimberly (another OC x canon pairing, though I've adapted Nascour so much he's basically a completely different character. xD)
  • Ronin x Scarlett (kinda unhealthy relationship... but still super sweet, in a sad way.)
  • Seth x Missy (puppies and kitties forever~)
  • Aethas x Synnora (oops, another OC x canon~ Love these two way too much. My husband RPs a great Aethas Sunreaver.)
  • Siegfried x Yunai (been gushing over these two for over a decade. True love never dies. xD)
  • Eclipse x Haly (still working on these two, but it's going to be cute~ A different version of Haly in an AU is paired up with Geltor, instead.)
  • Hayden x Sierra (really love these two... though I still have to finalize their story. They won't hook up for a lonnnnng time, at any rate.)

Q63. Which OC of yours is the most prone to illness?

Funny... I guess I've never really thought about my characters getting sick. Injured, yes, but not sick. I guess because a lot of them are really physically active... or are immune to sickness due to being immortal. xD

Overall, I'm going to say Saatian is most susceptible to illness because he has been raised in his family mansion all his life, and rarely goes outside. He's also physically frail due to relying heavily on his psychic power. In his home, he's fine, but when he has to leave, he can seem winded and gets headaches easily from the sun/heat. He is theoretically very prone to getting germs from people, but he probably uses his mystic power to protect himself. Though I imagine he tries to avoid physical contact with people because he could still get germs from them that way. Over time, he does improve, but he's still a frail person.

Q64: If your OCs were in a video game, what genre would it be?

Haha, most of my characters are already in video game-based worlds, so that's kind of an unfair question. xD I have fan characters for Pokemon, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, and World of Warcraft. One of the Star Fox spinoffs, Neos, is something I could see being incredibly fantasy RPG/MMO friendly.

For the most part, my babies would probably be in fantasy-based, RPG worlds. Annelise and Winter especially I could see in a beautiful RPG world.

Spiritype is a vampire/supernatural-themed version of the modern world, so I've always seen it as a survival-horror, action/adventure type game.

Q65: Which OC of yours does the most reading?

I have a lot of studious characters (whether they are scientist/scholarly types, or students forced to do a ton of reading for school), but I think the award goes to Liam. He's a lawyer, and has to spend a TON of time combing through law books, case files, records, paperwork, and notes related to his work. Spending late nights reading is pretty commonplace for him. x)

Papes

oh wonderful we're all 12 years old today

NSFW text and whatnot

Q69. Which OC of yours is the most sexually active?

Out of the very few ocs that I have, this will have to go to Alexandre and Coye of course. It's not the biggest part of their relationship, but they do have sex a lot when Coye's not busy being Sarina's guard, and Alexandre just can't seem to help himself around Coye and let's be honest they've probably done some kinky stuff that was Alexandre's idea someone please kinkshame him.

I'm kinda branching off from the question a bit, but Luca's probably had lewd thoughts about Missingno before but never acts on them because he doesn't want to make him uncomfortable. It's actually incredibly rare to catch Luca like that because he's so good at hiding it. While we're talking about these two, I might as well say that Missingno's likely had lewd thoughts too, but aside from confusion about whether it feels wrong he doesn't know how to react to it. It doesn't happen that often, though. Shameless flirting coupled with sexual innuendo makes Missingno a very flustered mess, i don't know why i felt the need to add this bit in

hoo boy i'm sweating so much rn i think i need to lie down for a bit ((i am so sorry))

LadyLatias

Q66. Which OC of yours has the best sense of direction? The worst?

Kip has the best sense of direction; she's been trained in the art of tracking and survival. Basically she's a modern-day ranger. :)

I want to say Synnora probably has the worst sense of direction. She isn't the best at spacial awareness and will trip and bump into things around her. She's fortunately ok at following a map, but she has to pretty much have her eyes glued to it and keep trying to identify landmarks. If she loses track of where she is, she might not be able to find her way back. xD

Serisyna is also sort of bad at direction, but mostly because she doesn't really pay attention to her surroundings unless the sights are particularly interesting to her. She basically glosses over her surroundings and focuses on the life forces in the area--other living creatures, or souls floating around. If she ever gets lost, she just starts following the direction where she senses the most interesting magic or life energy. She'll run into something eventually.

Q67. Do you have any OCs that are morning people? How about night owls?

Most of my characters are probably night owls just because I am. xD;

The characters I think are most likely to be night owls are my studious/hard-working people, as I can see them doing much better at night and when they're alone. These people include: Hayden, Liam, Rich, and Nascour.

I can see Travis being a morning person, just because he probably likes to maximize his time during the day and go to bed early. x)

Q68. Which OC of yours has the strongest sense of justice?

Probably... a tie between Alexander and Llylithen. The two characters are probably the same person, placed into different situations and allowed to develop in entirely different settings. (This wasn't the intention, but looking back on the both of them, I realize Llylithen is basically a more gritty version of Alexander. xD) They both are very romantic, noble, and self-sacrificing people, lamenting the pain they've been through but always willing to put others before themselves. Alexander has a great deal of guilt over the unscrupulous things he's done in order to reach his goals, but Llylithen is more comfortable doing questionable things to achieve what he believes is necessary. Both of them believe in protecting the weak, and fighting fiercely against those who would try to harm the innocent.

Serisyna has a very strong sense of "punishing" those with dark intentions and protecting those with good souls. Of course, she has the advantage of literally being able to see other people's souls and read their minds (to an extent), so she knows instantly if someone means well or not. Undead version of Serisyna, unfortunately, believes she has perfect clarity in her sight, but this isn't true, and her personal bias does taint her visions of others. She is willing to see the goodness in people she cares for, even if they are doing some pretty questionable things, and willing to condemn what would be considered goodness in others just because it threatens or poses an obstacle for her or her loved ones. Living version of Serisyna is far more pure in her visions, and with age and maturity comes the clarity to recognize when she is unsure about judging someone.

Q69. Which OC of yours is the most sexually active?

Well, my most promiscuous characters are Bix, Liam, and Llylithen, in that they love having sex for the sake of having sex and being pleasured. Part of the fun, for them, is convincing otherwise shy or uncertain people to sleep with them. However, each of them is different as to what degree they pursue people. Llylithen naturally attracts people, so it's not really much work for him to find people if he needs some company. Liam and Bix on the other hand are more aggressive; Bix likes to bother and insist until the object of her attraction gives in, while Liam uses his skills of persuasion to coerce people into bed with him.

Cerylia is also pretty sexually active. Her husband gets the majority of her attention, but she is not adverse to having short flings with people she happens to befriend and respect. To her, sex is simply another way of showing her deep affection or admiration for someone. Others often view it as her gaining favors, or trying to get influence with important people, but that isn't really her primary goal. She does, however, share the same attitude as her brother, in that once she finds someone "deserving" of her, she will not rest until she has gotten them into bed with her.

TheLadyAnatola

Q69. Which OC of yours is the most sexually active?

Oh, I'd say probably Lloyd and Leila, my two literally lust afflicted dorks, I mean darlings. Pretty much anyone they deem attractive is fair game for them, but Leila tends to only grativate toward people she could envision herself being affectionate with (although she rarely follows through and only seems to gravitate back toward either Lloyd or Walter). Lloyd... uh, well he's a creep. Just gonna leave it at that. Freyr is a rather promiscuous person as well, but he's definitely not always thinking about it like Lloyd and Leila (who are the extreme cases due to that mean little curse of sorts). He's just a regular guy that can't help falling for ladies all the time... and he says he wouldn't mind finding that perfect girl someday, but... at this point in his life he's not exactly thinking about commitment. ^^;

In terms of sexually active folks in committed relationships, I'd say Ragnarok and Joy. :P While Ragnarok was alive, I suppose you could say he was addicted to his wife in a way. How else would they have had 11 kids (to his dismay)? Hope Freyr doesn't feel weird that I just got done talking about him being sexually active and then immediately start talking about his parents. XDXD For not married couples, probably Brandt and Kara. Kara is definitely fair to him, but she'd be lying if she said she's neeeeever used her womanly wiles to manipulate him a smidge. But they are a rather active couple, starting out as just an assumed one night thing to realizing they are very compatible after seeing each other more often on campus.

Continuing my catching up! :)

Q6. Which of your OCs stays up the latest? Who gets the least sleep, if it's not the same person?

Sidra stays up the latest, as he is a much more nocturnal nu and loves stargazing and astronomy! However Sebastien probably gets the least amount of sleep: his full-time “day job” is apprenticing under a famous dye maker and that takes up a lot of time, as he is serious about his work and wants to learn it. However he moonlights as a smuggler for a variety of elements (NOT people), so he’s often working late into the night on that as well. There’s probably a couple of days every month where he’s unfocused or just not working; his master is annoyed by this, but lets it slide since Sebastien is a hard worker (but he’s unaware of the smugging).

Q7. Which of your OCs is the most forgetful?

Hmm, I don’t think I’d classify any of my characters as being forgetful per se, but there is Anat, who is a third-eye dreamy who’s third eye is beginning to inject false memories into her brain and take away other ones. Theomeny just doesn’t have a care in the world with things that are not important to his interests (which are usually: sex, dancing, having a good time) so they tend to fall by the wayside. However people would be stupid to assume he doesn’t have a sharp and calculating mind behind that kind of attitude: he got where he needed to be on his own for a reason!

Q8. Do any of your OCs have notable dreams, or at least any recurring themes that appear in their dreams?

Batya does a lot of divinatory and spirit work with bones of the dead, and often uses oneiromancy to communicate with them easier! (Also this is giving me the idea that Batya has a primary spirit she works with for this sort of thing)

For characters that have reoccurring themes: Anat has intense cannibalism dreams that have solely worn away any reservations she had against it (although she currently doesn’t eat people huehuehue); Lamia occasionally has nightmares that she’ll lose her place as a figure of worship to the people on the islands she inhabits around; Sidra often dreams of the stars talking to him, but those dreams are incredibly terrifying (thing eldritch horrors!) even though the stars are actually kind of nice beings.

Q9. Which of your OCs is the worst cook?

Vella probably, as she has little desire to have cooked meat and assumes everyone is the same no matter how many times you’ve told her. Eilun is a runner-up, as they don’t understand why everyone does not want to eat delicate flower petals for every meal (although everyone eats them just to be polite).

Q10. Which of your OCs is the best cook?

Roshani learned how to make confectionary when he grew more comfortable being around the mortals in his realm, and is an expert at making caramel treats and cinnamon buns! Anais makes some of the hands-down best homecooked meals, seeing it as an extension of her wishing ability, and her desire to help others heal.
