Listen, there's nothing I love more than answering random questions about my OCs and seeing other people answer random questions about their OCs. Conveniently, I also love coming up with random questions and asking them. So, hey, why not make it a daily event? In this thread I'll post a question every day, all of them related to OCs! Sometimes it'll be about your feelings about your OCs ("who's your favorite oc?" or "who was your first oc?") and sometimes it'll be questions asked toward your OCs themselves ("what are your ocs' favorite colors?" or "would your ocs rather fight one horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?"). You can answer in-character or out of character, answer for multiple characters or just one, whatever you want!
I'll try to ask these early in the day, and you're always welcome to answer any ones that you've missed! Feel free to answer as many as you want at once; just be sure to label which question you're answering! Q1. Who was the first OC you made a profile for on Toyhouse? Why them?
The first OC I made a profile for here was Dicro Corrune! He's the most well-known OC of mine amongst my friends (most of my friends don't have a lot of profiles up yet but he'd have the most links), is probably my most important character overall even though I have like 50 different OC universes and he's only connected to a few, and if he's not my favorite OC overall he's pretty darn close. There's a lot of me in him, too, so I feel like putting him up first provides a decent insight into both the kind of person I am and the kind of characters you'll probably see from me. Plus he has the most images, the most writing, is the most fun to RP with, and is one of my oldest active OCs... it was an obvious choice for me!
Q42. How do you choose which OC(s) of yours to feature? If you don't use the featured character feature, why not?
I actually feature my characters when I feel as though they're done-- at least for the moment. :'D I also like to have several pieces in their gallery that people can look at before I do feature them. BUT I will feature characters even if they don't have as much art, so long as I feel as though their profile is solid enough. I'm always going back and editing and rewriting...

thyx has a TOTALLY METAL band where he provides the vocals and also the guitar and also the percussion and also everything. his music is very popular with... himself
Other than that, I don't really have many characters who sing. Well, I do, but they're not up on Toyhouse yet! Umbra canonically has a lovely singing voice but very rarely ever makes use of it (she'd have to be pestered pretty hard by Soleil). Aedi, Bonnie, and Memen all like karaoke, but they don't really do any serious singing. Out of them all, Memen would be the one most likely to sing the most... and now that I think about it, she's totally the kind of person who'd have a Disney villain-esque musical number ready for every hapless soul who ends up in her realm. Yeah that's totally canon now.

I've mentioned them a million times by now, but everyone in my band here can sing. Volkmar is the lead singer and apparently has the voice of a fall angel according to his description on their fansite (not his idea at all XD). He's got very strong vocals and a rather wide range. Conner and Lee also sing very well, and although Jasper does too he's way too shy to do so without everyone else. Fathom will never admit it, but he has a nice voice, but he also won't sing by himself, not because he's shy but because he thinks singing's not really his thing. He only does so occasionally for backup or when forced to help work out some harmonization in the song making process, but he's happy just sticking to his drums. And they have a bunch of backup singer ladies who ghosts of opera singers, so they sing exceptionally well too. I only have two of them up so far, Anneliese and Genevive.
Let's see... Alcata sings well because she's a siren, Cornell can actually sing well but he purposefully sings obnoxiously with his sea shanties (he only sings well if he's doing so with his mama, who also has a lovely voice), Criss's singing could move anyone to tears (and not because he only sings when he's really sad nowadays), Jack's singing will make all the women (and maybe some of the men) swoon, Elizabeth has a rough voice that fits perfectly with her sea shanties involving "you better work or I'll keelhaul you and your descendants forever" type of things, Isaac can sing well like his daddy (although he prefers to play instruments so you won't hear it often), and Jeremy and Tabitha always make up ridiculous songs together (but Jeremy's actually a good singer, whereas Tabitha can only hold a tune).
(deep breath) Justin has a lovely voice since he's a traveling guitar-playing singer, Katsena is another fair voice siren of sorts (but she's has a more full, glamourous voice), Kikea is a fair voiced queen of the fairies that sings magic hymns with all her kin, Loser is a marvelous singer that wants to go on broadway but no one thinks she'll make it because she's a LOSER, Nakeeta is the biggest pop star of the Demon's Realm, Nokken has a hauntingly beautiful voice to go with his violin playing, Portia is an excellent singer and loves doing musicals, Purity and her sister and mother sings magical songs and lullabies along with being a lovely singer in general, and Theo is charming singer and guitar player as well.
PLUS a buttload of my unmentioned characters can sings really well because I shove them into music videos in my head all the time. Almost everyone in this folder is part of that group, but it's not an exclusive group for sure. Man oh man this is going to get more complicated once I add more characters. XD It's my own fault though.
Q42. How do you choose which OC(s) of yours to feature? If you don't use the featured character feature, why not?
I've honestly haven't learned how to use it yet, and then I'd be too indecisive :')

Not really professionally, but Willa usually hums to herself, no singing though. Carter probably sings a little, perhaps lullabies or something for his children, it wouldn't be unpleasant but not well trained.

Lazul has a tendency to sing along to whatever jam he's listening to at the moment, so that's a thing! He also does karaoke once in a while with Papes, who's incredibly shy about her singing. Luca actually used to do duets with Melodia Piroutelle (Meloetta), but that was during the more peaceful times of Ancient Unova. Alexandre meanwhile has a nice singing voice but gets embarrassed about it, to natch he wouldn't be too sure about singing in front of other people.

I have a few OC's that sing! Most notable of them though is Ceres, who does a lot of recording in his studio. Because Ceres swore off using his banshee abilities for harmful or morally questionable reasons he uses screamo as an outlet for his basic vocalization needs. He hoped to be famous and use his abilities for good rather than bad mostly just to prove to himself that banshee abilities aren't an inherently negative thing and that he can use his abilities in unconventional ways and still benefit from them.

A few! Aedi and Fray both took piano lessons when they were younger, but neither care to play it. Fray vastly prefers the triangle and xylophone. Lausac is remarkably good with a harmonica, Etoile has been trained in many classical instruments, Euphesme can play almost anything you put in front of her, Dicro can secretly play the saxophone, and Thyx is convinced he can play any kind of guitar but... well, he tries his best. Zhirael can play a number of instruments and can pick up new ones with remarkably little trouble, but as is common amongst residents of Heaven (or, in his case, former residents) he's particularly skilled with the harp.
Hadris sometimes reminisces about the band he was in back in the day, but for better or worse no evidence exists to back up his claims.

Sierra immediately comes to mind--her dream is to one day be a music star (pop/rock), though she believes it is a far-flung dream and may not ever happen. She loves singing and seems to have a natural gift for it; people close to her will often hear her singing to herself, often coming up with lyrics and tunes on the spot. Her boyfriend plays guitar, and enjoys helping her put her ideas to music. One of her co-workers loves music as well, and will let her use his music studio to compose and record tunes. Still, as long as Sierra works for a criminal team, it's unlikely her dream will come true.
Serisyna also comes to mind as a singer. Being undead, she is normally really soft-spoken, and her voice sounds breathless and not fit for singing. In addition, she's quiet and shy, and doesn't like to bring attention to herself. It's only in rare moments of inspiration that she is moved to sing, and when she does, her voice gains surprising clarity and conviction. The songs that she sings are normally hymns of the holy light that she learned in life, and are used for healing and invigoration. At other times, however, she will spontaneously sing haunting and beautiful tunes, which are said to be the voices and inspiration of the souls she is moved by in that moment.
(Her living version has similar talent in music, though she is much less shy and is happy to sing for others when they request it. She also has taken to coming up with lullabies for her newborn baby.)

Aside from the characters I've mentioned above? Let's see... Sage plays violin, and also is going to school to study music history and music theory. She isn't sure yet what she wants to do with such a degree, but she only knows that music is her passion, and she wants to pursue it as far as she can. Trese also plays drums, as well as sings pretty well, too. He is something of a "rock star" in his world, or as much as one can be in such a setting. xD
I feel like a few of my other characters have some skill in an instrument, but not enough to really be worth mentioning. Maybe I'll have to think about it more. x)

Of the band I mentioned in the last question, Volkmar plays flute, guitar, piano, and violin primarily, but he's always trying to teach himself new instruments. He can also play the drums, but he doesn't like to. Conner is a skilled guitarist, Jasper learned to play bass guitar from him and Volkmar, Lee is skilled at piano and also knows a little cello and harp, and Fathom plays the drums but can also play some guitar.
I have a whole school of kids that are also in band, most of which are in this folder. I'm not gonna link them all, but I can at least group them up: Nicole is the only clarinet player for some reason. Darian, Celestae, and Cyndy play flute. Moni plays oboe along with piano and bass guitar. Anamoli plays alto sax. Erin and Portia play french horn, although Portia prefers mellophone. Aaron and Hal play trombone, Josh plays tuba, and Reba plays guitar. Sam, Jeremy, and Tabitha play trumpet, Calik and Tobi play percussion, and Erik plays viola. Alec is also a part of this school (just in a different folder) and he also plays percussion.
As for others, Isaac can play the bagpipe-accordion, or bagpipe and accordion individually. He really prefers the combo instrument though, but don't ask how he plays it. Jane likes to play the pipe organ at her cathedral from time to time. I mentioned before that Justin and Theo played guitar, and Mark also plays guitar while his sister Marcie plays piano. Lester is skilled at many different instruments after traveling with a band of bards for years (he also sings, whoops, forgot to mention that last time), but his favorites are lute, lyre, and flute. The previously mentioned Nokken also plays violin while he sings.
And last but not least, The Lady Anatola and the members of her Circle all play something to a certain degree. Anatola can play various instruments but prefers to dance, and everyone in her empire is required by law to play an instrument if she has a coughing fit. It gets very loud in the city when that happens since you're not required to play WELL... so bring an instrument with you if you want to visit so you don't get thrown in jail for being unprepared. Her Circle members, Skyler, Jethro, Detra, and Manara all have instruments on hand just in case, theirs being tamborine, slide whistle, triangle, and kazoo respectively, since they're relatively easy to keep around. Skyler also plays bass guitar. Alotana probably knows a ton of obscure instruments for some reason, and if you ask him how or when he learned to play he'll always answer with "I needed an elective."

A lot of my characters play music. My character Colton plays eukalele and guitar casually. They sometimes play in parks, on campus, or (most often) for friends. They really dig the folksy genres and love when people sing along or even better make up their own songs to his strums. Then I have Eno who makes music with his midimasher. He isn't very good at colaborating or showing off his skills, though, and playing music is something he does mostly for private enjoyment. Fio dabbles in piano and violin, but my real concierto is Faine. He takes his music very seriously, and when he was younger and had more time he practiced violently, obsessively, constantly. Now he doesn't have time to play regularly anymore, but because of his old piano-playing habits, the moment he sits down at a piano he can play the songs he battled with by heart. Of course that means he can only play a limited selection, but what he does play he plays well.

Professionally? Nope! As a hobby? Yes!
Spade has a particularly lovely singing voice. It's just that she'd rather punch you in the face (if you aren't her sister) than sing to you. Yiska loves to sing while he and Demese are travelling 'cause he doesn't like just keeping quiet. Keeping quiet is for chumps!! He also puts folk tales to tune just because he can. I also have a merman, who doesn't have a profile yet b/c I haven't done up one yet (but I have a pic here--he's on the left) Silar who has such a good voice for singing he was captured and locked up just to sing for other people.

Not as a living, but Iwato knows how to play the koto, shakuhachi, tsuzumi and shamisen. He learned how to play them in the mysterious past that he doesn't talk about. :'D The shamisen is his favourite, though, and he's kept up with that the most over the years. He's very skilled by now, though it takes a special person for him to want to play in front of them/for them.

- Slice is the frontman for a goth band. While he's incredibly mild-mannered in his personal life, when he gets on stage his persona comes to life, bringing out his raw, demonic passion.
- Andantina is a gorgeous diva with a clear and soaring tone. She's a bit vain about her voice, but rightfully so, given the joy and sorrow she brings to others with her gift.
- Chesria likes to sing to himself, but listening to him can be a bit painful for those with sharper hearing, as his notes often carry overtones in an echolocative range—what sounds wonderful to him can sound like chirping to others a best, screeching at worse. Still, no one faults him for it because he intends no harm, and everyone is quite fond of him.
- Vanik also likes to sing, but he's incredibly self-conscious about it, despite the confidence and arrogance he carries in everything else. While his speaking voice is very smooth, his singing voice is weak, and a bit shaky. It's easiest to get him to sing by getting him a bit drunk first, and then not making a very big deal about it. His human AU self is particularly fond of tunes from Bollywood movies.
- King loves to hear his own voice, but sadly his repertoire is strictly limited to raunchy drinking songs.

Ginga plays the lute, albeit rather poorly. She hopes that her musical talent will help her woo the ladies, but she has far too generous an assessment of her own skills. She has also dabbled in a fair few other instruments, but she considers the lute to be the most charming and 'romantic' of them all. If you gave her a rose she'd gladly hold it between her teeth, just for the effect...
Parli plays the piano, or at least she's learning to. She finds it very calming, and likes to sit in her parlor on rainy afternoons while looking at the potted plants in the window, and pluck out a few chords or so.
