The worn pages of the book made a soft flipping noise as Audun worked her way through the pages, trying to understand this story. Don’t misunderstand, she could read the language just fine by this point, no no, this was just a very odd story. It made little to no sense, and she couldn’t even quite make out the moral. Most human children books, as this seemed to be, had morals to teach their children lessons. But this book just seemed to teach nonsense…

Alice in Wonderland, the book was titled, and when Audun originally found it, she was excited to give it a quick read, thinking this would just be a delightful fictional story for the young. But it spoke of strange animals, monsters, and an evil queen. She’s gone through this book about five times now, and can tell anyone most of the plot going on, but she was still unsatisfied. The things that occurred within the story were all so strange. Growing, shrinking, this way and that way, unbirthdays and rabbits in coats. It was enough to nearly give her a headache. She gave a soft sigh and placed the book amongst her stash. Maybe she’d understand it someday...
