Promptober

Audun had gone farther than she normally did in search of human artifacts today, and it was getting quite late. She decided to take a shortcut home, but unfortunately this shortcut entailed going through an area some Dex referred to at “The Cursed Forest”. Normally such rumors did not frighten Audun, but it was a particularly dark night due to a new moon, paired with also being not long after her ghost encounter. Needless to say, she was a little on edge. She almost decided to take the long way home, but it would be well past daybreak at that point, which wouldn’t be very good for her either.

So weighing her options carefully, she decided to cross through this forest. She decided to attempt to keep completely quiet as she walked, cautious to not step on any twigs or dead leaves. She didn’t want to draw any unwanted attention to herself. It seemed as though the forest was mocking her, equally as still and quiet, making even her own breathing feel like she was giving herself away. She tried to keep the paranoid thoughts out of her head but the more she tried the more afraid and convinced she became that something was looming just out of sight. She realized what made this forest so “cursed”. It cursed people with the fear of their own minds.
