#29. Moonlit Window

The night crept into Audun’s home, slowly, calmly. She sat at the window, watching the moon rise as she thought of many things. She normally wouldn’t just sit and think like this without tinkering on something or documenting notes. She could very well go out and search for more things to occupy her time. But tonight she could only seem to occupy herself with thoughts. She’s done a lot this month, encountered many strange and new situations. But none felt as foreign to her as this rising feeling in her heart. Tonight, she could only think about her.

Like a waxing moon, her heart seemed to fill with a gentle warmth the more she thought of her. With these thoughts though, also came fears. Just as the moon waxes, it also wanes. Would her feelings also wane with time? Should she even try if she knows such a fate could come true? She sighs and places her head down, gazing at the moon with longing. Just as she began to feel the weight of her eyelids, she had another thought. The moon doesn’t seem afraid of waning, and even when it goes completely dark, it will come back again. Just like a sweet promise. If it is not afraid, then why should she be?
