story & relations
Emerald was one of the oldest ship captains serving under the prism bearer Hessonite. They bravely followed her into many battles, which later included the war on Earth as well. Even though things started to get little rough there, Scarab still had hopes the colony can be purged from the crystal gems if their garnet tries hard enough.
Unfortunately, everything changed the final evacuation day. Due to some miscommunications among the leaders, Scarab had been left uninformed about the diamond attack, meaning they didn't prepare their own ship in time. Emerald tried desperately contacting Hessonite about the situation, but nobody was sent out to escort them. So, Scarab escaped through the interstellar teleporter.
Thanks to some miracles and lucky help of Elbaite's Corrupt Resistence, Emerald managed to find a new purpose on Homeworld. Since almost none of the powerful garnets want anything to do with a semi-corrupted freak, Scarab joined Uvarovite's ranks, who is also considered an outcast between the elites.
Relations
Melon the elbaite
I s-s-s-see those hands of yours. Full of lies and hidden cards, just like when we're playing at Uvarovite's table. To some degree, I'm impressed. But she should still remember elbaites aren't nobles for a reason.
Star Sapphire
Oh your clarity, someone like her wasn't meant to be at war. Hope it wasn't Hessonite's idea, I hate her enough already. Anyway, Star and I were assigned to serve the same research team during the resistance. She secretly collected data while I distracted our suppressors. If it wasn't for her, I would probably never join these corrupted off-colors. Regardless of that, I admit it paid off in the end.
Melanite 4EV
Did I enjoy being demoted by her into an off-color? ABSOLUTELY not! Do I hold it against her? No. I would have shattered an emerald like me if I had been in her position.
???
I... Remember unknown voices. Voices holding me bubbled. Voices followed by wires digging into my gemstone's circuitry. At first, I thought it had to be Melanite and her workers. But giving the circumstances, I'm now aware that is impossible. Not to mention the loudest voice was nothing alike any gem variety.
Uvarovite
Ironic, isn't it? I used to despise her for the exact same things we're partners now. Guess the saying "enemy of your enemy is your ally" truly works. Speaking of Uvarovite, any updates on when she hosts another card game night?
Elbaite 4K2
At least one corrupted elbaite knows where she belongs. Her assigned job is off-putting, but I'll trust Uvarovite on what she's doing.
Uvarovite's pet
Uvarovite has... questionable gem preferences. Oh well, they're also the reason I'm still around.
Sonite
Ugh, I'm trying to ignore how identical she sounds to my former commander. The two of them often fought for the title of the best hessonite garnet. Well, Sonite is undoubtedly the better one nowadays.
Hessonite
She left me corrode with the others and STILL has the audacity to call herself the greatest commander?! How sic-c-c-c-ckening. If only she lost more than her shiny pyramid.
Opinions & details
The diamonds: "Honestly, they should have done more to save Pink's colony. I'm not judging, just believing there were better options than, ya know, C-C-C-COWARDLY BLASTING THE PLANET."
Crystal gems: "Since they adooored biological life so much, I guess the diamonds had the need to create a disease that turns them into one. I don't care Elbaite's researchers say something else. To me, the rebels manifested their destiny upon us."
The war: "I still believe the war was winnable if everyone had tried taking it seriously. Fine, I admit, I wasn't the wisest commander either, but still!"
Earth: "That planet?! What a waste of time and resources. Pink had one job to take care of it and look where it got her."
Cross-gem fusions: "EWWW, why are you even mentioning their existence? Think about the ignorants that might be listening."
Corruption: "Until a cure is found, we're a living disgrace."
Emeralds: "Once well respected for being a prism-bearer's emerald, now ditched by the rest of my kind for being a scarred war survivor. Don't make me comment on it more."
Peasants: "Ugh, Uvarovite's palace is filled with them. Yes, it could be argued Hess didn't have a palace to begin with, but that doesn't change Uvarovite's lack of standards. Thank the stars I have my own lonely apartment on a different planet."
Anger: "When I'm furious, I sometimes lose more than just a temper. It can go as far to... lose myself. [Sigh] I swear I'm better at handling this part of my sickness now. Yet, there are moments I cannot help it. I've actually lashed out on several nobles, with Uvarovite being the only garnet still willing to keep me around. I wish I c-c-could understand her patience with me... I don't deserve it. I don't deserve any of her sympathy, (not after all the years Hess and I mocked her). Maybe-... Maybe if I wasn't so angry at myself, I would have the strength to tell her sorry."
