Voids

VOIDS

The space surrounding the Complexes are known as voids; an infinite space of nothing. Over years, the void separated into three distinct settings - the Undervoid, the Void, and the Overvoid. There is no information about why this happened, though it's thought some sort of undiscovered magic could be involved.

Each of these voids is now occupied by the few who can live in them, and those who were always there.

Overvoid

The Overvoid sits at the top of the Complexes, like oil on water. It weaves through the very crowns of the trees, the branches growing through and above it. Most of the branches never sink back into this particular void, though on occasion there has been a world growing within it.

From the outside, the Overvoid appears to be a slight golden shimmer. From within, a whole world can be experienced. Cities, towns, hamlets, farms, forests, everything you can imagine is there. As it's infinite, the landscape simply goes on and on forever, out into lands yet unexplored. Everywhere in this place, there's a golden glow casts everything yellow-orange, so it feels like eternal sunrise.

The gravity is lessened here, so the Daeilims who have made it their home have had to adapt to live there. Many, if not all, have wings, and use these to fly easily from one place to another. Houses, markets, farms, etc. have also had to adapt: anything light and loose is bolted or tied down, or designed to be used in such an environment.

Magic is rife here, especially premor. It's been described as the most powerful place in the multiverse for magic users. However, due to this it's also the most volatile. Using magic the wrong way in the Overvoid has the chance to create one hell of an explosion.

Void

The void is an encompassing, dark nothingness that surrounds the Complexes and Overvoid. If it could be counted as space, it would be the largest space in existence, even bigger than infinity.

No one chooses to live in the void. Once you're there, everything stops. You can't eat, can't sleep, can't die. To many people, it's a Hell.

For many years within the Complex, the ultimate punishment was to send someone out into the void. They would float there forever, unable to come back, unable to see anyone ever again. Fortunately, this has been stopped and now it's only the unlucky who find themselves there.

There *are* people living out in the void. Those who were cast out and have found each other. They've made a small, floating community of themselves, keeping each other entertained and trying to plan a way back home. For some though, it's already to late to go back and see their families.

There are also... things living with them, in the backs of their minds and corners of their vision. In the depths of the void creatures, the voqui, roam.

More recently tech has been made that can venture a short distance out into the void. It's hoped that someday it'll be good enough to go out and rescue the souls trapped there.

Undervoid

The Undervoid lies around the roots of the Complexes. It's said the root worlds were "planted" there and grew from the raw, powerful, energy the Undervoid possessed, the Complexes only able to grow so big due to it. In reality, the root worlds *do* reside within the Undervoid, but it's unsure if they grew because of it.

Unlike either of the other voids, this void contains all magic. Premor, Odyle, Aole, Soulbinding, Bloodstone and more that are so far unnamed and unknown. The chaotic nature of it makes it both the best and worst place for magic users; they're the most powerful they could ever be while there, but there's also the high chance they'll explode.

As with the Overvoid, the Undervoid is infinite. From the outside, it's barely visible bar a slight darkened area. Inside, there are lands of trees, fields, dunes, cities and towns. The blue light from the Complex shines down on it constantly, giving it an eerie feel.

Daeilim also live here. Those who moulted and now have bat-like wings are the commoners. Over many years, they've adapted they're architecture from what it's like in the Overvoid to what's needed for the their now home. With an increase in gravity, much of the technology no longer worked, so it was changed and remade and is now almost entirely unrecognisable from what it was.

There is less of a population here, so it seems to be a well known retreat for those who want to avoid people.
