Fun at the Safari Zone! || Chapter 25
Well, it’s been a couple days since all that chaos happened with Team Rocket, and now that we don’t have to deal with them anymore, I can finally continue with my adventure! I’m so relieved to be able to continue my adventure, but before I do so... I had an idea. A pretty fun idea! Today, I’ve decided to actually take the day off instead, and do something fun to celebrate, so... I called Blue and Leaf yesterday, telling them to meet me at the Fuschia City Pokémon center today. And now, I was waiting for them, finally seeing the two approach and run up to me excitedly.
“Hey, Sam! I can’t believe we we’re able to take down Team Rocket!” Leaf says, giving me a high-five.
“I know! We’re like the ultimate team!” I respond. “Nothing can take us down! Right, Blue?”
“Hm? Yeah, I guess so.” Blue says, trying to sound casual.
“Aw Blue, don’t be like that! The three of us are the ultimate team, whether you like it or not.” I say, chuckling.
“I guess you’re right.” Blue says, smiling. “So, why’d bring us over here today?”
“Oh, right! Well, I have a fun surprise for us. Today... We’re going to the Safari Zone! And I have a fun game we’re gonna play while we’re there!”
“Ooh, a game? Sounds like fun!” Leaf smiles.
“Aw man, it’s not a battle?” Blue says. “Man... I only came today cause I thought you wanted to battle me!”
“Sorry about that, Blue...” I respond. “We’ll have a battle another day, I swear!”
“So, what’s the game we’re gonna play there?” Leaf asks.
“Well, I had an idea that we could all catch as many Pokémon in the Safari Zone as possible, and turn it into a competition!” I explain. “The person who catches the most Pokémon wins! And whoever catches the least amount of Pokémon has to pay for dinner! Heheh...”
“Ooh, I’m in! Sounds pretty fun... Maybe I’ll catch a strong new teammate in there...” Leaf says, smiling.
“Yeah, me too!” Blue says, smirking. “I’ve got a bunch of rare Pokémon there I wanna look for anyways... You all better prepare to lose!”
“Ok, great! Then let’s go!” We all then started walking over to the Safari Zone, talking about which Pokémon we wanted to capture the most. “You know which Pokémon I’d love to catch?” Leaf asks. “A Chansey! I know they’re super rare and hard to catch, but I’d love to have one on my team...”
“Well, I’m gonna try and look for both a Rhyhorn and a Dratini!” Blue says. “They’re both pretty strong Pokémon, and one of them would be the perfect Pokémon to fill up my last team slot!”
“What about you, Sam? What kind of Pokémon are you gonna look for?” Leaf asks.
“Hmm... Honestly? I’d be fine catching anything.” I respond. “It’d honestly be super cool if I could catch every species in there!”
“Yeah, good luck with that.” Blue scoffs. Eventually, the three of us arrived at the Safari Zone entrance, where we all bought our tickets. Each of us were all handed 30 Safari balls, and some rocks and bait to help catch the Pokémon, finally going inside of the Safari Zone. The area was pretty big, filled with trees, long grass, and more.
“Whoa, awesome... Alright everyone, let’s split up!” I announce.
“Yeah! You’re all going down!” Leaf giggled, her and Blue immediately dashing off into another area. I stayed in the entrance area, looking around at the various Pokémon walking around in the thick grass. “Whoa, there’s so many Pokémon here... Who should I catch first?” My eyes scanned the area, looking across the big river that was also in the area. Across from it, I saw a Pokémon that was watching me...
Whoa, a Pinsir... I know that’s a pretty rare Pokémon...
“HYAH!!” I chucked the safari ball across the river, but my throw wasn’t strong enough, landing and sinking into the river instead. Pinsir noticed this right away, quickly running away and out of sight. “Dangit! I’ll get that Pinsir next time I spot it. Hmm...” I looked around at all the Pokémon, pointing my finger back and forth. “I’ll catch...”
“This one! An Exeggcute! HYAH!!” Before the Exeggcute could react, I chucked a safari ball at it, promptly going inside...

...Click!
“Yes! My first catch!” I grabbed Exeggcute’s ball, stuffing it into my pocket as I looked around for my next catch. “Hmm... I pick...”
“You! You’re mine now, Nidoran!”
“NIDOOOO!!” The little blue Nidoran suddenly squealed when I pointed at her, quickly dashing off. Wow, this situation is familiar...
“Quick, Pikachu! Let’s catch that Nidoran!” Me and Pikachu dashed after the Nidoran, eventually cornering her against some rocks. “You’re mine now! HYAH!!” I chucked the safari ball, her going inside...

...Click!
“Yes! Who should we look for now, Pikachu?” I asked, putting away Nidoran’s ball.
“Pika!” Pikachu pointed off to the distance... Pointing to the same Pinsir from earlier.
“Whoa...” We quickly ducked down behind some rocks, carefully peeking above them to watch Pinsir. Gotta be more careful this time. Hmm...
I grabbed some bait, chuckling it close by the Pinsir. Pinsir quickly noticed it, running up to the bait and happily nibbling on it...
“HYAH!!” I chucked the safari ball, as it went inside...
...1 shake...
...2 shakes...
...POP!! But instead the ball popped open, Pinsir grabbing the bait and running away.
“Ugh, dangit! I was so close too...” I sighed with annoyance, looking around at another Pokémon I could catch... When my eyes landed on a Rhyhorn. I ducked behind some more rocks, sneaking closer to the Rhyhorn, as I pulled out a rock. I chucked the rock at the Rhyhorn, gaining its attention, as it growled, chasing after me. “AAAAAAAGH!! IM SORRY RHYHORN!!” Rhyhorn chased me through the area like crazy, causing me to accidentally drop a bunch of my safari balls all over the ground. While I was running away, Pikachu grabbed one of the balls, chucking it at the distracted Rhyhorn as it went inside...

Click!
“Oh, thank goodness...” I sighed with relief, grabbing Rhyhorn’s ball. “Thanks, Pikachu. Hmm... Who should I capture next?”
Sometime later...
I made my way further down in the Safari Zone, finding another Pokémon to catch... A Cubone. I hid behind some rocks, throwing some bait to distract the Cubone. The Cubone happily grabbed and starting eating the bait, as I threw a safari ball at it...

“Yes! I am on fire today!” I grabbed Cubone’s ball, looking down into my bag to see how many safari balls I had left. “Hmm... Only 14 balls left. I gotta use these wisely... I’ll save these for some rare Pokémon I find.”
“Pika!”
“Hm? What is it, Pikachu? Did you spot a rare Pokémon?” I asked.
“Pika pi!” Pikachu pointed off to a Pokémon a close distance away... Pinsir. Woah. Speaking of rare Pokémon...
“Hmm... How should I capture you this time, Pinsir...” I looked down at the bait, and rocks. “If the bait didn’t work last time, then...” I grabbed a small rock, sneaking closer to the Pinsir...
“HEY, PINSIR!!” I chucked the rock at Pinsir, hitting it in the head. Pinsir immediately turned around, glaring as it charged at me and Pikachu. Luckily we quickly leapt out of the way of the attack in time, Pinsir running away into another area.
“Oh, that’s it. Pinsir... YOU’RE NOT GETTING AWAY THIS TIME!!” I dashed off into the area Pinsir ran into, looking around for it. I spotted Pinsir again, trying to run after it...
But a little Pokémon, a Venonat, suddenly jumped down from a tree, blocking the path in front of us.
“What the... Please step aside Venonat, I’m in a hurry right now...” I tried stepping around Venonat, but it quickly scooched over so it was still blocking us.
“Dangit, Venonat! I’m making you move whether you like it or not!” I quickly grabbed a safari ball, chucking it at Venonat...

“Ok...” I grabbed Venonat’s ball. “Now, where’d Pinsir run off to...?”
“Pika pi!” Pikachu pointed off into the distance, where we could barely still see Pinsir in our sights. “There you are! Pikachu, let’s get em!” I dashed into Pinsir’s direction, running into some long grass...
“OW!!” But something in the grass tripped me, causing me to fall to the ground roughly. I sat upwards, looking at what tripped me, as it slowly stood up...
“Wha... A Parasect? Ugh leave me alone right now, I don’t have time for this!!”
“Para...” Parasect didn’t take well to my threat, hissing at me as it started releasing a Stun Spore attack.
“AGHH!! I-IM SORRY PARASECT!!” I screamed and dodged the Stun Spore attack, Parasect chasing me and Pikachu around the area like crazy. Eventually I did manage to outrun Parasect, hiding behind a tree. I carefully peeked out from behind the tree, watching as Parasect looked around for me. I then grabbed and threw a piece of bait, Parasect promptly going after it. Then, I threw a safari ball...

“Alright...” I grabbed Parasect’s ball and put it away, opening up my bag to see how many safari balls I had left. “What the... Only 5 left?! Dangit, I must’ve dropped some more while Parasect was chasing me...” I looked over in the distance, where I could see Pinsir watching me...
“Oh, that’s it Pinsir... YOU’RE MINE NOW!!” I dashed after Pinsir, chasing it around as I threw another ball, which missed. I saw Pinsir hide behind some rocks, where I tried throwing another ball, which also missed. I kept chasing Pinsir around, throwing two more balls which also missed. Eventually I cornered Pinsir between some rocks, where I now had only one ball left...
“You’re mine now, Pinsir! HYAH!!” I chucked the ball, Pinsir going inside...

“Oh... My... Gosh... YES!! I FINALLY CAUGHT YOU, PINSIR!! WOO!!”
Ding! I suddenly heard a beeping as a loudspeaker above clicked on...
“Sam Wells... You have now run out of Safari balls. Please exit the Safari Zone as soon as possible.”
Sometime later...
I made my way out of the Safari Zone, immediately meeting back up with Blue and Leaf at the front entrance.
“Hey, Sam! How’d it go in there?” Leaf asks.
“It went great! Look, I caught seven Pokémon in there!” I respond, holding up all my safari balls.
“Whoa, you caught seven? That’s pretty impressive! I only caught four in there, heh...” Leaf responds.
“Man, I only caught three! Guess I’m paying for tonight’s dinner then.” Blue says, smirking. “Heh, you’re all just lucky I’ve been saving up my money lately. Alright then... Pizza’s on me!”
We all made our way over to a pizza restaurant, sharing a big cheese pizza. I even gave Pikachu his own slice of pizza, watching him happily nibble on his slice as we all talked about the Pokémon we caught.
“Sam, what kind of Pokémon did you catch in there?” Leaf asks.
“Hmm, let’s see... I caught an Exeggcute, a Nidoran, a Rhyhorn, a Cubone, A Venonat, Parasect... And a Pinsir.”
“Whoa, you caught a Pinsir? Those are super rare!” Leaf says.
“Nice! I caught a Pinsir on one of my other trips to the Safari Zone...” Blue says. “It was pretty easy, actually...”
“Easy?! Man, you know how hard it was to catch that Pinsir?! I swear I chased that thing throughout the entire Safari Zone! Ugh...” I groaned. “Blue, what did you catch in there?” I asked.
“Uh, I didn’t catch a Dratini, but I did catch a Rhyhorn! I also caught a Seaking and a Nidorina...” Blue responds. “Leaf, what about you?”
“Ah, well... I caught a Doduo, a Magikarp, a Nidorino, and an Exeggcute!” Leaf responds.
“Nice! Man, today was pretty fun...” I state. “But I gotta continue my training tomorrow... I need to prepare myself for the Pokémon league!”
“Me too... Hey Sam, how many badges do you have right now?” Blue asks.
“I have 6 badges.”
“Hey, me too! Sam, when we both get all 8 of our badges, we’re having another battle, alright?” Blue says.
“Sounds good to me! I’m gonna do all my training on my own, if you don’t mind Leaf.”
“That’s fine with me, I have my own training to do anyways.” Leaf responds. “Good luck with your training!”
Nice... Starting tomorrow... My adventure continues!
