BOOOM!!

“Urgh… What the…?” It was the middle of the night, and I suddenly felt myself being awoken by a loud crashing noise somewhere outside. I sat up in my bed, looking down at Pikachu, who was looking at me nervously. “You heard it too, huh buddy?”

“Pika…” Pikachu nervously nodded. I looked over at Ethan in his bed, who was still asleep. He must be a heavy sleeper. “Come on, buddy. Let’s go find out what that noise was.”

I didn’t wanna wake up Ethan if it wasn’t something serious, so me and Pikachu left our hotel room, going outside and looking out in the sky. It looked like in the far distance away, there was a bit of smoke…? It was so far away, but I couldn’t smell any smoke or fire in the air or anything, so I’m not sure if it was smoke or not. Maybe it was dust particles from something crashing? I don’t know…

Out of nowhere, I suddenly felt some arms grab me, a muscular hand clasping over my mouth and nose. I tried fighting back, but this person was pretty strong, and I could slowly feel myself getting weaker… Slowly… Losing consciousness…

“…Glad I could finally get my hands on you again, kid.” I heard a deep voice speak to me. Wait a minute, that voice sounded familiar to me…

“PIKA!!” Pikachu tried to lunge at the person, but the person whacked Pikachu, knocking him to the ground. “Pikachu… No…”

Pikachu tried to stand back up, but the person kicked him, knocking Pikachu into a nearby pond… That was the last thing I saw…

…Before I lost consciousness.

The next morning…

Ethan’s POV…

“Urgh…” I woke up, hearing what sounded like some commotion going on outside. “Hey Sam, do you-“ I looked over at Sam’s bed, seeing that it was empty. Weird… What’s going on outside, anyways? I need to find out.

I quickly got out of bed, leaving the hotel room and going outside, to see a group of employees, surrounding… Pikachu? Pikachu looked pretty angry, all the employees looking like they were trying to either calm him down, or grab him.

“Whoa, hey! What’s going on here?” I asked, approaching the group.

“This Pikachu’s been trying to get inside the hotel all day!” One of the employee’s says. “And it refuses to relax! Is this Pikachu supposed to be yours?”

“No, it’s my friend’s Pikachu, you can let him in! Come here, Pikachu…”

“Pika! Pika pi!” Pikachu ran between everyone’s legs, running up to me and into my arms, whimpering as he clutched onto me.

“Whoops. Uh, sorry about that.” Another employee says, all of them going back inside.

“Pikachu, what’s going on? Where’s Sam?”

“Pika!” Pikachu jumped out of my arms, running as he motions for me to follow him. I quickly followed Pikachu around the corner of the building, seeing that one of Pikachu’s poke balls was on the ground, with some footprints in the area.

“Weird… Did something happen to Sam?” I asked.

“Pika!” Pikachu nodded yes. “Pika… Pika pi pikachu…” Pikachu started speaking, looking like he was trying to act out something. He made a motion where he grabbed one hand tightly with the other, then pointing to his Poke ball.

“Are you trying to tell me… Did Sam get… Taken by someone?” I asked.

“Pika!” Pikachu nodded yes. Pikachu then suddenly reached into my pocket, grabbing the wanted posted for Jackson and unfolding it.

“Oh no… Jackson took him?”

“Pika…” Pikachu whimpered, nodding yes.

“Oh no…” I felt a chill run down my spine, feeling my body tense up with nerves. “This isn’t good… But don’t worry Pikachu, we’ll find a way to get Sam back.” I picked up Pikachu and his Poke ball, Pikachu whimpering as he leaned his head against my chest. I walked back inside of the lobby of the hotel, where we could see crowds of people who were all talking pretty loudly. There was a TV on the wall, which had a news report on it, which read: Breaking News: Metorite crashed in the Tanoby Ruins.

“A meteorite crash last night? And I didn’t hear it? Man, I must be a heavy sleeper…”

“Pika pi! Pi!” Pikachu perked up, repeatedly pointing at the TV screen.

“Hm? What is it, Pikachu? You wanna go to that metorite?” I asked, Pikachu nodded yes. I pulled out my map, looking down at it. “Tanoby Ruins isn’t too far away. Alright then… Let’s head over there right now.”

Sam’s POV…

“…Urgh…” I slowly felt myself waking up, my body feeling a bit stiff. I quickly realized why when I tried to move my arms, realizing that they were tied up with rope, my legs also bound together as well. I looked around, noticing that I was on a boat. What was going on here?! Wait, I remember what happened last night…

“Ah, you’re finally awake.” I saw someone step out from inside of the boat… It was that familiar bounty hunter, Jackson.

“Jackson…” I glared up at him. “Wh-why would you kidnap me? What’s wrong with you?”

“I said I wouldn’t go easy on you next time we met up…” Jackson says, kneeling down to my level. “And I’ll say, I had no idea you were the champion of the Kanto region until recently. And now that I’ve discovered this little fact, I knew exactly what to do…”

“…Ugh…” I tried moving my hands, feeling that the pocket that I usually kept my Poke balls was now empty. “Oh no… What…”

“…Looking for these?” Jackson held up my Poke balls. “Sadly you’re not getting your team back anytime soon. A champion team like yours is gonna make me a lot of money… I’ve put them on auction recently and I’ve already received a lot of high bids on them!”

“No…” I felt so nervous and horrified just at the idea. Wait a minute… I looked over at the Poke balls he was holding, noticing that he was only holding five of them… He was missing Pikachu’s Poke ball.

“Pfft, what, you could only get a hold of five of my teammates?” I say, mocking him. “If you ask me, it doesn’t make sense to only sell five of them…”

“Pfft, whatever…” Jackson simply rolled his eyes at me. “I’ll get ahold of your stupid little Pikachu another time. Right now I have more important things to do.”

If Pikachu’s not here, he must still be with Ethan. I’m glad he’s safe then. Man, I really hope those two are able to find me soon…

“So, you heard that crash last night, right?” Jackson asks.

“Um, of course I did. Anyone with ears would have heard it.” I say sarcastically, Jackson rolling his eyes.

“…Anyways, that crash was from a meteorite that crashed in the Tanoby Ruins.” Jackson continued. “The legendary Pokémon Deoxys is inside of that meteorite, and that Pokémon is gonna be mine real soon.” Jackson then goes back inside of the boat.

Legendary… Pokémon? Woah… I wish I could be happy about seeing such a rare Pokémon, but… I’m terrified right now. I don’t know what Jackson is gonna do to me, or what’s gonna happen next, but…

I just really hope Ethan finds me soon.

Sometime later…

After a bit, the boat arrived at a smaller island, which was a part of the Tanoby Ruins. Jackson had a bunch of crew members on his boat as well, all of them but one hopping off of the boat. “You watch the kid. Make sure he doesn’t get into any trouble.” Jackson says to the one crew member, him and the rest of his crew leaving. Man, this was annoying… I really wish I could go see Deoxys for myself…

“Man, these bids are out of control!” The crew member says, looking down at a nearby laptop. Ugh, this really sucks…

…Suddenly then, a Pokémon jumped out from the ocean, jumping over the boat… It was Lanturn. Pikachu was on Lanturn’s back, Pikachu quickly jumping onto the boat, as Lanturn jumped back into the water.

“Pikachu?!”

“Pikaa!” Pikachu perked up at the sight of me, quickly running up to me and hugging me.

“Hey, what the heck is this?! Get over here!” The crew member quickly started chasing Pikachu around the boat. While the crew member was distracting chasing him around, I saw Ethan nearby climbing onto the boat, running up to me as he started to untie my ropes. “Ethan! Oh man, I’m so glad you two are here…”

“Yeah, me too. I’m just glad I was able to find you…” I say, Ethan freeing me from the ropes completely. I quickly grabbed all my Poke balls, Ethan handing me Pikachu’s poke ball. “Pikachu! Over here!” Pikachu ran over to me, the crew member skidding to a halt as he stared at us with a shocked expression. “Wh-what the…”

“You guys are done for… Now you better get out of here, and DON’T tell Jackson what happened here, or you’ll be sorry.” I hissed, the crew member grumbling to himself as he hopped off the boat.

“Ethan, we gotta hurry… There’s a legendary Pokémon Jackson’s trying to capture that needs our help.” I say, Ethan nodding in response. We all hopped off the boat, sneaking further into the island a bit. We quickly ducked behind some bushes, carefully peeking out to see Jackson and his crew, all standing in front of the metorite.

“Wait a minute… You said they were trying to capture a legendary Pokémon? Is it inside of that metorite?” Ethan asks.

“Yeah, it is… He said there was a Pokémon called Deoxys inside of the metorite.” I replied.

“Deoxys?! Oh no…”

“What? Is that bad? Is Deoxys in trouble here?” I asked.

“I’m not sure… But if a Deoxys is really inside of that meteorite… I’d be more worried about them.”

Suddenly I could see a bunch of this little Pokémon that I didn’t recognize, floating around the area Jackson and the metorite was at. “What are those?” I asked.

“…I think those are Unowns?” Ethan says. All the Unowns looked different from one another, all being different shapes and such.

“Stupid little Unowns… Come on out, Baxcalibur!” Jackson sent out an unfamiliar Pokémon…

“Use Icicle Crash! Get these little vermin out of my face!” Jackson commanded. Baxcalibur unleashed a bunch of giant icicles that crashed into the area, all the Unowns retreating quickly. “Good… Now use Dragon Tail on the meteorite!” Baxcalibur slammed its tail down, cracking the metorite right in half… Revealing the Pokémon Deoxys itself.

Whoa… Deoxys was such a cool looking Pokémon. It definitely did look like it came from outer space.

Deoxys slowly stretched it’s body as it stood up straight, barely floating above the ground as it glared down at Jackson and his crew.

“Ah, there you are, Deoxys…” Jackson stared up at Deoxys, smirking as his crew members pulled out a big net, carefully holding it up.

“Baxcalibur, use Hyper Beam!!”

Baxcalibur blasted an incredibly powerful attack at Deoxys, knocking it to the ground. All of the crew members quickly put the net over Deoxys, who flailed around aggressively, trying to free itself.

“We gotta help Deoxys out…” I say, turning over to Ethan. “Maybe you can distract Jackson, while I go out and help Deoxys?” I suggested, Ethan nodding in agreement.

“Yeah, that sounds good… Let’s go!”

We both jumped out of the bushes, running up to everyone, Jackson looking over at us with wide eyed shock. “What the?! How did you escape, kid?!”

“Does it matter?! Leave Deoxys alone already!” I snapped.

“Stupid little brats…” Jackson muttered under his breath. “I’m not letting you two disrupt my plans again…”

“That’s not up to you… Come on out, Typhlosion!” Ethan sent out an unfamiliar Pokémon…

“You wanna play then? Alright… Baxcalibur, use Dragon Tail!”

“Use Flamethrower, Typhlosion!!”

Both the Pokémon quickly started attacking one another. I took this opportunity to sneak over to Deoxys and the crew members…

“Crobat, come on out! Use Air Slash and cut those nets open!” All the crew members jumped out of the way, as Crobat slashed open the nets, freeing Deoxys. Deoxys glared down at the crew members, who all quickly ran away. Deoxys then looked over at Baxcalibur, suddenly unleashing a Psycho Boost attack on it, knocking Baxcalibur to the ground.

“URGH, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” Jackson screamed with pure rage, glaring between us and Deoxys. “Baxcalibur, use Outrage on Deoxys!!”

Baxcalibur’s attack knocked Deoxys back a bit…

“Now, attack those kids and their Pokémon!!”

Baxcalibur quickly aimed for us, me and Ethan jumping out of the way as Crobat and Typhlosion took the attack, taking a bunch of damage.

“Oh no… Crobat,Typhlosion!” I glared over at Jackson. “Are you crazy?! What’s the matter with you?!”

“You little brats got in the way of my plans, that’s my problem!!” Jackson snapped. “Baxcalibur, use Hyper Beam!!”

Baxcalibur tried to attack, but was now confused after using Outrage, stumbling around in a dazed state. “What’s the matter with you?! Attack already!!”

Deoxys quickly then attacked Baxcalibur, using Psychic and slamming it to the ground. Baxcalibur tried to get back up, but was still confused… As Deoxys used Psycho Boost, knocking out Baxcalibur.

“UGH, COME ON!!” Jackson returned Baxcalibur to his Poke ball. He tried sending out another Pokémon, but Deoxys attacked the ground near Jackson, knocking him back.

“Urgh…Stupid…” Jackson grumbled to himself, standing back up as he suddenly ran away.

“Hey! Get back he-“

I wanted to run after Jackson, but Deoxys attacked the ground near me, causing me to fall to the ground.

“Whoa, Deoxys calm down! Jackson is gone now, you don’t have to worry anymore.” Ethan says. Deoxys still seemed pretty upset though, attacking the ground near us.

“Sorry about this Deoxys, but… Pikachu, use Thunder!”

Pikachu zapped Deoxys with a ton of strength, Deoxys weakly floating closer to the ground.

“Deoxys, please calm down! We’re not here to hurt you, so you don’t have to worry anymore!” I spoke to Deoxys. Deoxys looked down at us silently, barely moving. Suddenly we could see some Unowns floating out of the ruins. A few of them floated around Deoxys, different Unowns of different shapes going next to one another… Once I looked carefully at the Unowns, I noticed that they were all shaped like different letters, and the Unowns that were in front of us spelled out: THANK YOU.

“Are you… Thanks us, Deoxys?” I asked, Deoxys almost nodding its head slowly. “Well, of course, I’m glad we can help you. You can return home now, if you want.” Deoxys slowly nodded at us, flying off into the air and away, as all the Unowns went back into the ruins.

“I’m glad we were able to help out Deoxys…” Ethan said, smiling.

“Yeah, but…” I paused, looking to the area where Jackson’s boat used to be at, but it was now gone. “…Jackson still got away.”

“True, but for someone like that…” Ethan says. “…Karma will get him eventually.”
