Pokémon Ultra: Spark yellow

The day has finally come. After an entire year of adventuring, battles, training, and challenges, everything has led me to this day… The day where I finally take on the Elite Four. I’ve finally made sure I was ready, doing a bit more training yesterday, while also buying a tons of potions and revives, and here I was now… Standing right in front of the entrance, where I was only a few steps away from taking on the first Elite Four member. To be honest, I don’t know if I was nervous or excited about this… Maybe a mix of both?

“Pikachu… You ready for this? There are gonna be the hardest battles we’ve ever faced, buddy.” I looked down at Pikachu, who nodded and smiled at me, a determined look on his face. “Pika pika!“ Pikachu pumped his fist in the air, doing an energetic jump, which I couldn’t help but smile at.

“Alright, good… Then let’s do this.”

I took a deep breath, finally stepping into the first room… Where the first Elite Four member was waiting, smiling at me and waving as I approached her.

“Welcome to the Pokémon League, child… Your name is Sam, correct? I am Lorelei of the Elite Four. No one can best me when it comes to icy Pokémon. Freezing moves are powerful. Your Pokémon will be at my mercy when they are frozen solid… Hahaha! Are you ready…?”

“Yeah… I’m ready.”

BATTLE… BEGIN!!

Lorelei: “Go, Dewgong!”

Dewgong, huh… So she does specialize with ice types. But I need to be careful, because a lot of ice types are also part water type as well…

Sam: “Let’s go, Wigglytuff! Use Psychic!!”

Lorelei: “Use Hail!”

Clouds formed above the battlefield as hail started to fall, damaging Wigglytuff a bit.

Sam: “Hang in there, Wigglytuff! Use Mega Punch!”

Lorelei: “Use Ice Beam!”

Both attacks did a lot of damage to one another.

Sam: “Use Tri Attack!”

Lorelei: “Use Safeguard, Dewgong!”

Sam: “Use Mega Punch!!”

Lorelei: “Use Surf!!”

Both did a lot of damage again, and I could tell they were both getting weak now…

Sam: “Quickly, Wigglytuff! Use Mega Punch!”

Before Dewgong could attack, Wigglytuff quickly knocked it out.

Lorelei: “Go Cloyster! Use Spikes!!”

Sam: “Use Psychic!!”

Wigglytuff landed the attack, but she was so weakened, that the hail knocked her out.

Sam: “Let’s go, Nidoking! Use Earthquake!!”

Lorelei: “Use Dive, Cloyster!”

Cloyster dove underneath all the water that was left over from Dewgong’s Surf. At this time, the hail cleared up, Nidoking also taking damage from the spikes on the field.

Sam: “Quick Nidoking, return! Come on out, Venusaur!”

Venusaur took a bit of damage from the spikes, as well as Cloyster diving out and attacking, but not doing much damage.

Sam: “Alright, Venusaur… Use Mega Drain!”

Lorelei: “Use Hail!!”

Once again, Hail was brought onto the battlefield.

Sam: “Again, use Mega Drain!“

Lorelei: “Return, Cloyster! Come on out, Jynx!”

Sam: “Quickly, use Toxic!”

Lorelei: “Use Ice Punch!!”

Luckily Venusaur landed the Toxic, poisoning Jynx, but Jynx’s Ice Punch did a ton of damage, severely weakening Venusaur…

Sam: “Quick, use Body Slam!!”

Lorelei: “Ice Punch!!”

Venusaur luckily landed the Body Slam, but was quickly knocked out afterwards. Hmm, I don’t think Jynx knows any water type moves, so…

Sam: “Let’s go, Charizard! Use Fire Blast!!”

Lorelei: “Quick, use Ice Punch!!

Jynx’s attack did a bit of damage, but was quickly knocked out by Charizard’s attack. At this time, the hail also cleared up.

Lorelei: “Come on out, Lapras! Use Surf!”

Sam: “Quick Charizard! Use Fly!”

Luckily Charizard dodged the Surf in time, landing his attack next turn.

Lorelei: “Use Surf!”

But this time the Surf landed, knocking out Charizard.

Sam: “Alright… Let’s go, Pikachu! Use Thunder!!”

Lorelei: “Use Ice Beam!!”

Both attacks did a ton of damage to one another, both struggling to stand…

Lorelei: “Use Confuse Ray!”

Sam: “Use Thunderbolt!!“

Lapras’ Confuse Ray landed, but luckily Pikachu was still able to hit Lapras, knocking it out.

Lorelei: “Go, Slowbro! Use Ice Beam!”

Sam: “Use Thunder, Pikachu!”

This time though the confusion prevented Pikachu from attacking… Instantly getting knocked out. Alright Sam, this isn’t looking good right now, but stay calm. You’ve got this…

Sam: “Let’s go, Blastoise! Use Hydro Pump!!”

Lorelei: “Use Surf!”

Sam: “Use Blizzard!!”

Lorelei: “Use Ice Beam!!”

Both attacks did a decent amount of damage to both sides… But luckily Blastoise’s attack landed a critical hit, knocking out Slowbro. Alright, now she had just one weakened Pokémon left…

Lorelei: “Go, Cloyster! Use Dive!!”

Sam: “Quickly, Blastoise! Use Blizzard!!”

Luckily Blastoise’s attack hit before Cloyster dove under… Knocking it out.

“Whoa! You’re better than I thought, kid…” Lorelei says, as I take a deep breath of exhaustion.

“Whew… Thank you.”

“Of course, but you’ve only gotten a taste of the Pokémon League’s power…” Lorelei says, the door behind her opening. Man, that was exhausting, but she was right. I still need to stay calm, though… 

I walked into the next room, which was a small hallway, the door to the next member on the other side. I sat down on the floor, healing up and reviving my whole team until they were back in tip top shape. After that I walked into the next room… Approaching the next Elite Four member.

“Hey, kid! I’m Bruno of the Elite Four! Through rigorous training, people and Pokémon can become stronger without limit. I’ve lived and trained with my fighting Pokémon! And that will never change! Get ready, Sam… We will grind you down with our superior power!! HOO HAH!!”

BATTLE… BEGIN!!

Bruno: “Go, Onix!!”

Alright, so this guys a fighting type user. Wigglytuff is my only team member weak against this type, so this’ll hopefully be a bit easier…

Sam: “Let’s go, Blastoise! Use Surf!!”

Bruno: “Use Earthquake!!”

Both attacks did a decent amount of damage to one another, but Blastoise’s attack did way more, Onix already very weak…

Sam: “Quick, use Ice Beam!”

Before Onix could even attack, Blastoise quickly knocked it out.

Bruno: “Go, Hitmonchan! Use Sky Uppercut!!”

Before Blastoise could even attack… Hitmonchan knocked him out.

Sam: “Alright… Let’s go, Charizard! Use Fly!!”

Charizard quickly landed the attack next turn, doing a lot of damage.

Bruno: “Use Sky Uppercut!!”

Charizard: “Now, use Flamethrower!!”

Hitmonchan’s attack did a decent amount of damage, but Charizard’s did way more, instantly knocking out Hitmonchan.

Bruno: “Let’s go, Onix! Use Iron Tail!”

Sam: “Use Dig, Charizard!”

Charizard dug underneath the ground, hitting Onix on the next turn with a lot of damage.

Bruno: “Use Double Edge!!”

Sam: “Use Fire Blast!!”

Both attacks did a ton of damage to one another, but the combination of Charizard’s attack, and Onix’s recoil, knocked it out. Why does Bruno have two Onix anyways? Isn’t he a fighting type user…?

Bruno: “Alright, no more playing around… Go, Hitmonlee! Use Mega Kick!!”

Sam: “Quick, use Flamethrower!!”

Charizard’s attack landed, doing a decent amount of damage, but Hitmonlee’s attack quickly knocked him out.

Sam: “Let’s go, Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!”

Bruno: “Use Brick Break, Hitmonlee!”

Sam: “Now use Thunder!!”

Bruno: “Use Mega Kick!!”

Unluckily for me Pikachu’s attack missed, but Hitmonlee’s didn’t, quickly knocking him out.

Sam: “Alright Nidoking, let’s do this! Use Earthquake!!”

Bruno: “Use Brick Break!”

The second Hitmonlee attacked, he was jabbed by Nidoking’s horn, causing his poison point ability to go into effect, poisoning it.

Sam: “Now use Strength!”

Bruno: “Use Facade!!”

Hitmonlee’s attack did a ton of damage, but immediately afterwards Nidoking’s attack knocked it out. Just one Pokémon left to fight…

Bruno: “Alright… Let’s go, Machamp! Use Bulk Up!”

Sam: “Use Rock Slide!”

Bruno: “Now use Cross Chop!!”

Machamp’s attack did a ton of damage, immediately knocking out Nidoking.

Sam: “Ok… Let’s go, Wigglytuff! Quickly, use Psychic!!”

Bruno: “Use Cross Chop!!”

Wigglytuff’s attack did a lot of damage, but immediately after was knocked out by Machamp’s attack with just one hit. 

Sam: “Alright… Hang in there, Venusaur! Use Mega Drain!!”

Bruno: “Again, use Cross Chop!”

Machamp’s attack did a lot of damage, but I could tell Machamp was getting pretty weak now…

Sam: “Finish em off, Venusaur! Use Body Slam!!”

And with that… Machamp was knocked out.

What?! How could I lose?!” Bruno let out a big breath, smiling at me. “Well, my job is done. Move onto your next challenge.”

“I will… Thanks, Bruno.” I felt extremely exhausted, sitting down to rest for a bit in the next hall. Man, that battle was pretty tough too. But hey, atleast I’m halfway there. Just two more Elite Four members and I’ll be done…

I fully healed up and revived my team again, resting for a few minutes until I walked into the next room… Approaching the third Elite Four member.

“Hello, Sam… I am Agatha of the Elite Four. I hear Oak’s taken a lot of interest in you, child…”

“Woah, really? Wait, do you know Professor Oak?” I asked.

“Yes, but that doesn’t matter now! That old duff was once tough and handsome. But that was decades ago. He’s a shadow of his former self… Now he just wants to fiddle with his Pokédex… But he’s wrong! Pokémon are for battling! Sam… I’ll show you how a real trainer battles! Using the power of my ghost Pokémon!!”

BATTLE… BEGIN!!

Agatha: “Go, Gengar!”

Ghost type Pokémon…? Aw geez, I don’t have much experience with these…

Sam: “Let’s go, Charizard! Use Flamethrower!”

Agatha: “Use Confuse Ray!”

Sam: “Stay focused, Charizard! Use Dig!”

Charizard tried to attack, but ended up hurting himself in his own confusion.

Agatha: “Now, use Toxic!”

Oh, great. This isn’t good…

Sam: “Charizard, return! Come on out, Wigglytuff!”

Agatha: “Use Double Team!”

Sam: “Stay focused, Wigglytuff! Use Psychic!!”

Agatha: “Use Toxic!!”

Of course Wigglytuff ended up being poisoned too, but luckily her attack was able to knock out Gengar.

Agatha: “Let’s go, Golbat! Use Air Cutter!”

Sam: “Return, Wigglytuff! You’ve got this, Pikachu!”

Agatha: “Use Poison Fang!”

Sam: “Use Thunder!!”

Luckily Pikachu landed his attack, instantly knocking out Golbat. However, Golbat’s attack ended up poisoning Pikachu. That’s just my luck, half my team poisoned already…

Agatha: “Go, Arbok! Use Screech!”

Sam: “Use Thunderbolt!”

Pikachu’s attack did a good amount of damage, also paralyzing Arbok. Haha yes, now it’s MY time to inflict status effects!

Agatha: “Use Sludge Bomb!“

Before Pikachu could even attack… He was knocked out.

Sam: “Alright, let’s go Nidoking! Use Earthquake!”

Nidoking’s attack did a ton of damage… Knocking out Arbok. Hey, isn’t Agatha a ghost type user? I’m pretty sure Golbat and Arbok aren’t ghost types…

Agatha: “Go, Haunter! Use Hypnosis!”

And with that… Nidoking was quickly put to sleep.

Agatha: “Use Dream Eater!!”

Sam: “Oh no… Nidoking, wake up! Please!”

Agatha: “Again, use Dream Eater!”

Haunter was able to use Dream Eater multiple times… Knocking out Nidoking before he could even attack. Man, I do NOT like this strategy…

Sam: “Let’s go Charizard! Use Fire Blast!!”

Agatha: “Use Curse!!”

Haunter quickly put a curse on Charizard, him taking even more damage, while also knocking itself out in the process. Whoa, she only has one Pokémon left…

Agatha: “Let’s go, Gengar! Use Shadow Ball!!”

Gengar quickly then knocked out Charizard before he could attack.

Sam: “Let’s go, Wigglytuff! Use Psychic!!”

Agatha: “Use Sludge Bomb!!”

Sam: “Again, use Psychic!!”

Agatha: “Use Hypnosis!”

Luckily the Hypnosis missed, Wigglytuff landing her attack… As it knocked out Gengar.

“Wow! Well, you win. I see what the old duff sees in you now…” Agatha says, smiling. “Well, I have nothing else to say… Run along to your next challenge, child!”

“Thanks, Agatha…” I smiled, sitting down in the next hallway. Woah, that battle ended up being a bit easier than I thought… This is so awesome! Three elite four members, one to go. If I beat the next… No, WHEN I beat the next elite four member…

…I’ll finally become champion.
