June 3rd-The First Attack

Kosa woke up to the sound of screaming. All around her, lions and cats were yowling with pain and rage. Bleary eyed, she stood up and saw that they were being attacked. Creatures made of decaying wood and soil, oozing a dark, gooey substance, with claws that appeared to be made of stone were advancing on the group. She was surrounded by the sounds of fighting, the horrible smell these new entities gave off, and the completely overwhelming sight of everything. Kosa quickly woke Helios, and the two of them dove straight into the fray.

Kosa summoned her ice armor, and started freezing as many creatures as she could. She knew Helios and the others would take care of them soon. Diving and weaving her way through the crowd, she made ice packs to place on her allies' wounds, as well as freezing the enemies who were overpowering them. Of course, she got injured along the way. But she couldn't stop to think about that now. Right now, at this very moment, they were being attacked. And she was sure that not everyone there had magic. So it was up to her to do her best for them.

However, she soon found herself surrounded. Thinking fast, she froze the ground underneath them and quickly dug in her claws so as to not lose her balance on the newly formed ice. Unfortunately, the creatures seemed to be relatively unaffected, and she was running out of energy to do magic. In one last attempt at fending them off, she made a sort of ice blossom around herself, similar to the shape of a flower bud at the start of spring. She sat down panting, and trying to think of ways to defeat them.

Maybe if I explode the ice?

Or how about I just break it and use it to make a sort of prison around them. I already know that they can't penetrate it.

Which was true, despite the fact that she heard loud rhythmic pounding, they didn't seem capable of breaking through her ice.

Once she caught her breath, she exploded the ice around her, sending the shards around the creatures. She made prisons for all of them. Now feeling more energized than ever, Kosa ran out of the circle of ice prisons and back into the fight. This time, she focused more on healing those around her, and defending the ones who were being over powered.

Eventually, the fight was over. She looked around, quickly making sure that none of the creatures were left. And she promptly fell over on the spot, exhausted.

Helios grumbled as his mate woke him up. But he stopped when he realized the reason for her doing so. They were under attack. He quickly shot up, and together the two of them jumped right into the fray. He soon lost sight of Kosa with all the chaos. He worried about her briefly, before remembering that she was more than capable of taking care of herself.

He threw himself right at the heart of the fight. Luckily for him, these creatures he was fighting were made of highly flammable material. He made his way through the chaos, casually burning anything that got close enough to touch him. He found several of them encased in ice, and he quickly took care of those. Nothing could touch him. He hadn't imagined that he'd be fighting something this easy. And since he had specifically been practicing his endurance, he was having a field day with all of this.

Helios' ears twitched as he heard someone yowling for help. He swung his head around, surveying the area. He saw a tiny light gray cat trapped under the claws of one of the creatures. He started to make his way over there, but before he got close enough, another small cat, even smaller than the gray one, came streaking through the battlefield. They threw something, presumably a weapon, right in between the creatures' eyes. Surprised and impressed, Helios turned back to his own fight. He took great joy in how his enemies burned to a crisp before his eyes.

In the middle of the battlefield, he saw a large ball of ice. Concerned, he began running towards it. Suddenly, it exploded, and Kosa emerged from it. She used the shattered pieces to trap the creatures who were clawing at the outside of her 'prison'.

Seeing that she had it all under control, Helios returned to burning everything that wasn't a cat or lion.

When the fight was over, he was surprised at just how exhausted he was. He wasn't used to fighting that long. He looked around the battlefield, and saw Kosa lying on the ground. Shouting her name, he rushed to her side to make sure she was still breathing. He sighed, relieved when he found that she was. She just collapsed from exhaustion. Helios put his mate on his back, informed some of the others as to where they were going, and carried her into the woods.

He laid her down on a makeshift nest of moss and leaves, and got some wet moss to put on her head and next to her so she has something to drink when she wakes up. Smiling down at her, Helios leaves her sleeping form and heads back to the battlefield. He checked in with those who seem to have made themselves authority figures in the time he'd been gone, as well as the guardians of the Trinity Tree.

Once he'd done that, he started making sure everyone was ok, and began cauterizing some of their wounds. Those who could handle the pain, anyway. For those who couldn't, he promised that his mate would be well enough to give them some ice to relieve their pain. He was slightly surprised, although honestly he shouldn't have been, to find that Kosa had given some cats ice to put on their wounds while they were fighting. Smiling to himself, Helios told one of the guardians that he would be heading back into the forest.
