Wangui

The wangui, in their language, is the leader or chieftain of the pride. A wangui can identify as any gender they see fit, (females are referred to as wangua) and must be chosen by the current wangui on the night of their third aurora as wangui. The wangui can be any age, and can be any lion within the pride. Despite the fact that they have been selected as wangui, they cannot claim that title until the current wangui passes away, and is transported to Ardhi ya Wafu by an alakaʻi where they live the rest of their lives with Amekufa. The wangui has a lot of responsibility on their shoulders. They are the one who is in charge of assigning certain roles, keep the peace, manage the pride, and assist when they can.

Mshauri

The mshauri is considered to be the advisor to the leader. They are the one who is in charge of different patrols, and scheduling important dates, such as music night, or meetings. Mshauri are chosen by the wangui when the previous mshauri passes away. The mshauri is basically like a lesser leader. They help the leader with decisions, and help make sure that the rules are being followed.

Nā ʻĀina

The nā ʻāina is the oracle of the pride. They have the ability to contact the dead, and receive prophecies. They are the one who is responsible for communicating with the outside world. They are chosen when the current nā 'āina receives a vision, telling them which lion will be their successor.

Ali'i

The ali'i are kind of like sub-leaders. They are the best of their respective rank. There are three of them, one for the sealgair (hunters), one for the walinzi (guards), and one for the ke kahiʻo (scouts). The ali'i are chosen by the previous ali'i. Similar to the wangui, they can be chosen at any time, and the next ali'i can be any age, however, they are usually the seniors. The ali'i usually lead patrols, and are responsible for getting the lions in their ranks involved in whatever festivity or event is going on.

Téitheoir

The téitheoir are the healers. They train the printíseach téitheoir, or the apprentices. They are chosen by the téitheoir "ali'i". Strictly speaking, the téitheoir do not have an ali'i, because of how few there typically are. The equivalent of an ali'i is the most experienced téitheoir. They typically consist of Nature, Ice, and Healing Mages.

Mages

The Mages are lions that possess Magic. There are 14 types of Magic. Nature, Fire, Earth, Water, Storm, Air, and Ice are common Magics. Light, Dark, Healing, Star, Metamorphic, Time, and Death are rare Magics. The Mages are responsible for training the printíseach Mages, and depending on the type of Magic they possess, are in control of other things. For instance, a Storm Mage are in charge of making sure the pride gets the appropriate amount of rainfall, and a Death Mage would be responsible for watching over dead souls until an alakaʻi comes to collect them and take them to Ardhi ya Wafu.

Cartlann

The cartlann are the archivists. They document all major events that happen in the pride. They have a special cave. Just outside the camp. They carve the events into the stone for all eternity. It's an ancient form of documentation, but it's proven to be the only one that lasts in the long run. They are chosen by the current cartlann.

Sealgair

The sealgair are the hunters. They are responsible for hunting, and bringing back the food. They are sent out on hunting patrols. When a mtoto is 6 months old, they have the option to become a sealgair. Sealgair are usually very strong and fast.

Walinzi

The walinzi are the guards and are in charge of protecting the camp from outside attacks. They are also stationed at the edge of the territory to defend against invasions, and be on the lookout for ke kahi'o from other prides. When a mtoto reaches six months old, they have the option to become a walinzi. Walinzi are typically very broad and muscular.

Ke Kahi'o

The ke kahi'o are the scouts. They are responsible for sneaking onto enemy territory and keeping a lookout. They are usually stationed with the walinzi on the edge of the territory. When a mtoto reaches six months old, they have the option to be a ke kahi'o. Ke kahi'o are typically very small and lithe, and have excellent senses. When the pride is at peace, they will usually be taken on by the sealgair, or possibly even the mea hānai (gardener).

Mea Hānai

The mea hānai is the gardener of the pride. They are responsible for tending to the garden, and are often employed by the téitheoir to grow their herbs. They also grow flowers, and tend to a nearby beehive to collect honey, which is also used by the téitheoir. The mea hānai are chosen by the téitheoir.

Mtoto

The mtoto are cubs who are younger than six months old. They are to stay in the den with their parent for around one month, then they will be allowed to wander around camp. They will not be allowed to leave the camp, and doing so will likely be punished to confinement in the nursery or their parent's den.

Clainne

Clainne are females who are expecting cubs, and those who are nursing and taking care of cubs who are younger than six months old. Occasionally a female will choose to be a clainne for life, and spend their lives in the nursery.

Seann

The seann are the lions who have either been too injured to continue on with their duties, or lions who have grown too old to continue on with their duties.

Kutoka

The kutoka are lions who have either left the pride by choice, or have been exiled. They are considered traitors, and are not to be trusted.
