Maw

a notably dangerous beast. a strange creature by all means, its anatomy is warped but optimally functional. its namesake comes from its hellish mouth, which seems to be able to split open as far as it wants, and is stuffed to the brim with countless razor sharp teeth and inky black tendrils. the maw hides in the shadows, camouflaged by its pitchblack manes, waiting for its prey to fall for its tricks. the maw possesses a long tail with a bulbous tip, which it can morph to mimic anything that will lure in its next potential meal. most often, it takes the shape of a creature familiar to its prey, or something seemingly entirely harmless. by the time the victim notices the long black appendage extending from what seemed to be their loved one at first glance, it's often already too late.
