Meet the Beta Clan

The Beta are very strict about manners, and respect, they hold themselves to a high standard. They believe perfection is in the details.
It can be hard to hold yourself to these standards. Though they are not particularly religious in nature, the Beta often believe in luck, fortune, and karma achieved through donations, obedience and good deeds.
Great rivers wind through the land of Beta that serve as means of travel. Large boats and luxury transport vessels travel up and down the many rivers that connect the settlements of Beta. Roads are built for vehicular travel as well, and many Beta travel using Petrinos and Charions who are trained to be ridden.
Unlike most nations the Betafloss tend not to engage in battle. When faced with an enemy they are more likely to flea, or talk their way out of situations. Though they have developed some martial arts through history to aid in the avoidance of battle. Misdirection, dodging and using an enemies motions against them are staples of their battle styles. Some say the Beta style of battle looks more like an intricate dance than a fight. Dance is a very important part of Beta Culture and is likely an inspiration for the way their battle style moves.
The beta eat a lot of small meals throughout the day rather than large lavish meals. They are well known for their tea ceremonies and tea parties where small finger foods are exchanged. they drink a lot of tea due to it growing naturally in abundance, and the ability to fine tune the flavors with herbs and spices. they also like the health benefits. They like delicate sweets and pastries and very lean meats if any.
The clothing of the Beta consists mostly of intricate expensive clothes. some dress traditionally with kimonos and lacy dresses. Their fashion is distinct from the theta due to the incorporation of bows, laces, and frills. They have a lot of light pastel colors, white, and golds in their fashion. Casual wear in Beta is usually still very clean cut, decorated and fancy. The betas have high standards of beauty and will not stand for dirt, rips, or worn clothing, and expect all floss to be groomed and clean.

Here are some common attributes shared by the members of the Zeta Clan. Does your floss fit the mold? Or are they an odd man out? Either way these are some stereotypes they may be compared to by other Candyfloss throughout their lives.
- Gentle; The Betafloss are known for being gentle and quiet. Older families tend to hold their women in particular to this standard of being gentle and kind, to the point where they can be punished for speaking out. Many Beta don't identify with this way of thinking but the expectation can be hard to get away from.
- Proper; The Beta are a people who value manners greatly. They have many daily courtesies they are expected to respect. Betafloss in other cultures can sometimes be shocked by the way floss treat one another and themselves.
- Bigoted; Because of the rocky history between Beta and Theta, and bigotry that is still remaining in the older generations, some floss claim that all Betas are clansist and bigoted, though this is rarely true. Especially under the current ruler any blatant prejudice is snuffed out, but it can be hard to break old habits and stereotypes.
- Strict; The Beta are self-disciplined and usually hard on themselves. They hold themselves to high standards, and tend to believe they are better than those who don't. This can cause some friction between them and the messier clans.
- Delicate; Betas are thought to be frail and fragile both physically and emotionally. It's a harmful stereotype that Beta women are hard to be with because of their high maintenance, and Beta men are often made fun of or underestimated for being "soft boys". Though, many beta don't fit this stereotype, many do due to the traditional Beta diet and social expectations for body image. Beta media specifically glorifies thin and tall floss, giving a negative social image of muscular or overweight floss. This can lead to negative self esteem and stress related to body types.
History
Many decades ago, Popfloss were the only Candyfloss known to Caramella. They were exploring the continents and spreading out. They slowly made their way north as more and more land was discovered. Prior to this, the Northern continent, Pagoto, was considered no man’s land because of the harsh and unlivable conditions. There were terrible beasts who lived there, making it difficult for the first explorers to survive the dangerous place. After years of no one daring to travel to the unforgiving North,
finally it was deemed necessary. It was the hottest summer on record, and the Popfloss were running out of ice to keep themselves cool and desperately needed more. So a brave team set out and sailed to the continent. To their surprise, their route took them directly to a village situated on the rocky beach, a village full of Candyfloss which were strange and foreign to the popfloss. Their fur was thick and soft and has different colors, which were light, less saturated tones of the Popfloss’ fur, perfect for blending in the snow and ice, they also had wings on their backs and had smaller and plumper bodies. They ate their food in a strange way never seen before by the Popfloss, it was cooked a special way that turned the sticky sweets into light and fluffy cakes, cookies, and donuts. The Popfloss found that they could eat these sweet things too, but the foods that the explorers brought didn’t sit well with the pastel Floss. These new Candyfloss called themselves the Sugarfloss and were just as surprised by the arrival of the Popfloss. Despite their differences, they welcomed the explorers into their village and helped them find the resources that they needed. When it came time for the explorers to leave, they extended an invitation to the Sugarfloss to join them in the warmer and safer Southern continents. A few of the Sugarfloss accepted this offer and sailed back with the Popfloss, integrating into their society easily. More and more Sugarfloss migrated down until there were none left in the harsh north. The Alpha gave the southern portion of their land to this new clan of floss that became the regal and delicate Beta Clan.
Following the War of Pnevma
During the Unity Council meetings following the war, the Beta clan was held responsible for the state of Theta. It took some time to bring all the evidence to light, but the oppression that Beta was subjecting the Thetans to was put on full display for all to see. The Leaders were appalled at how bad things had gotten without their notice. Even Kathari Li'Fan herself was shocked at some of the details of the problem. For many years before her reign, Thetafloss had been regularly being attacked, kidnapped, and sold into servitude for the Beta elite. They were tortured, starved and worked until death against their will. Kathari was ashamed at her ignorance of this problem. She could see how her lax leadership and her open disdain for the Thetans led to these extremes and she made a public apology and swore to right these wrongs within her borders. To start things in the right direction, Kathari agreed to a treaty with Eta and Theta both, to pay reparations and trade openly with them in ways that would greatly aid their recovery from the war. She reluctantly agreed to open her borders, and lift her embargoes on Theta. She sanctioned the removal of the Wall of Rot in it's entirety. During one of the nights between meetings Kathari came to Haruka and apologized to her for letting her biases get so out of hand. Haruka too, apologized for her treatment of Beta and Kathari herself. The damage had been done though, and the two of them had to move forward and hold onto these feelings to not let something like this happen again.

Kathari Li'Fan is the elegant leader of the Beta Clan. She is quiet, reserved, and the epitome of Beta culture. She keeps personal matters to herself as her main focus is her people and making sure that they are healthy and happy, but has been known to confide in the Alpha and Gamma leaders at times of great stress. Kathari is calm and poised most of the time, but when she gets mad, watch out and do exactly as she says, she’s probably right anyway. . Kathari is a product of her upbringing, and has been exposed to prejudice and hatred towards the Theta and Turfflefloss. During her grnadmother's rule the land was completely closed off to Truffles, and the Beta people were filled with fear of them due to the Great Rot. Though the was very young during the war, Kathari's mother was also very hate filled towards them. Kathari sees the hatred and the strife caused by this, and in her rule has done away with any laws against the Theta or Truffles and has been aiming to rid the Beta kingdom of the prejudice of old. Despite her efforts, old habits are hard to break, and even she has trouble getting along with the Theta's ideals and beliefs. This causes a rift between her and the Theta leader Haruka, though they are much more civil than the leaders before them. Since the Civil war of Theta, the two have agreed on a truce and have apologized for allowing their arguments to effect their clans.Kathari gets along well with the other leaders and is often looked to for guidance and reassurance when they are upset. She is kind and soft spoken. Derek and Grant are close with her and know her for her harsher sides. She will sometimes chastise them and 'mother' them which. The boys sometimes tease her but they are her dearest friends and cherish their relationship. Some root for Kathari to marry the King Derek but for now at least, they are only friends. Kathari is shorter than most Sugarfloss adn can be very self conscious about her height. She is known to wear dresses that are too long for her, and hover using her Beta ability to appear taller. She is usually hovering more than she is walking. Kathari is trained in many arts; calligraphy, writing, painting, piano, dancing, etc. She is very talented and likes to learn new things. Her favoritism pass time however is reading, and she can often be found in quiet nooks in the castle reading a love story or fantasy novel. She is an exceptional dancer and has been classically trained in ballet since she was a kittenfloss. Kathari is a powerful force of confidence and grace, a precious flower, and is admired by many. She takes good care of her people and refuses to accept anything less than the best from them.

Beta territory
The Beta Region covers most of West Glykos. Theyre a beautiful nation with sparkling oceans, flowering trees and crisp mountain air. They border the Eta and Alpha clans.nature
The Beta Territory is located in mid western Glykos. It borders the sea on its western border. The Beta region is temperate and temperatures tend to vary around 60 degrees Fahrenheit on average. The northern part of Beta is mountainous and the majority of the territory is nestled in highland biomes. The skies of Beta are usually a pure white, but in the later hours of the day you can see a pastel hue, almost pearlescent in nature. Beta weather varies more than most areas in northern glykos. The weather can vary throughout the year between hot summers and colder winters. The Winter months often have light snowfall for several weeks. A rainy season hits for a number of weeks in mid spring that causes the hills of Beta to become dotted in delicate flowers.

Great Rivers and LakesBeta is well known for their abundance of water ways. The great lakes serve as major transportation through the land, and many settlements were built in or around the lakes and rivers for this reason. The Betafloss find it east to navigate over the water with their special abilities, and they consider themselves blessed by the abundance of the resource. Many claim the water in Beta is cleaner, healthier, and tastier than any where else in Caramella. The Taffyfloss concure.
The Wall of Rot
In the East stands a huge wall along the Theta and Beta borders. Standing at about 1400 KM high at its highest point, this wall is a relic of the Great Rot War and was used to exile Rottonfloss and keep them contained. While other clans have since destroyed their walls the Beta clan wall is a historical landmark that deserves to be preserved. There are several checkpoints that have been built into the wall for movement between the borders. Betafloss are very proud of their wall and will sometimes fill cracks in it with liquid gold and marble to beautify it's surface. Visiting the Great Wall of Rot is a travel goal of most Candyfloss.
Following the War of Pnevma, the Wall of Rot was destroyed and disposed of, leading to an open border with the Eta clan.
settlements
Zhōngyāng City
The Capital City of Beta is a grand city made of marble and gold. The streets are broken up by the great river canals that flow through the city. The Beta living in Zhongyang travel using their levitation to cross the canals or by riding on boats and gondolas that travel through the waterways. The bottom of the water is filled with golden coins that have been thrown into the rivers as payment to the gods for granting wishes or protection. The buildings in Zhongyang are intricate and ancient, and hold much history. The great Beta palace stands in the center of the city with a great moat surrounding it. It can be seen from anywhere in Zhongyang City.
Bōlí Chéng
Known as the City of Glass, Boli Cheng is one of the larger cities in beta, said to be the birthplace of porcelain and glass art. The buildings in this city are mostly constructed of decorative glass, porcelain, and precious metals. Colored glass mosaics were invented here and most buildings have one or two custom made glass panes to show off. Even the streets are paved with delicate glass. Boli Cheng is a city of forgiveness, renewal and acceptance; they have a practice where if a glass bowl or pot breaks, they reassemble the pieces and fill the gaps with gold to give the piece a new life and beautiful marble appearance.
Great Shuǐlù
Built in the center of the Shuilu lake, this great city is a popular spot for Taffyfloss wishing to live on the main land. The towering city is more like a giant building, with hallways and passages connecting the entire structure together. Half of the city is submerged underwater, and is newly renovated to allow access to the lake for the benefit of aquatic Candyfloss. The city is tightly packed and many visitors get hopelessly lost in it's halls and gallerias.
Dúzì De Ville
Duzi De is a small villiage built on the southern tip of Beta. It's a fishing town known best for its impressive ports. The Villiage itself is humble and built of wood and stone. The people in Duzi De can seem cold hearted and tend to be instrumenting of new comers, but if you can find your way into this tight knit community it can be a grand and pleasant place to call home.
Běihú Town
Beihu is the closest town to the Wall of Rot, which in the time of war protected Beta from their enemies and now stands as a monument to the Great Rot. There are several gates to the wall where floss can pass through but Bei Hu town is the most frequented, and thus is a thriving market town. Some dislike the idea of living so close to the Theta border, but others find it a comfortable town nestled in the bamboo forests that Theta is known for.
Méiguī Pass
The Meigui Pass is a village built on a thin strip of land between two great lakes at the end of the Meigui river. Names for the abundance of roses that grow wildly in and around the pass, this quaint village is small by necessity and is built with many elevation changes to help prevent flooding. It's well known for the flowers that climb all around the stone buildings and walkways, and is home to many Piaofu Ci who love the open air and cheery demeanor of the villagers.
The Wall of Rot was built during the Rottenfloss War to protect the Beta clan from the exiled Rottenfloss who roamed the forests in southern Glykos. Now, the wall stands tall as a symbol of fortitude dividing the Theta and Beta territories. This beautiful marvel of architecture is a popular tourist spot as it gives a wonderful view of both the Betan mountains and the Thetan forests, as well as acting as a boarder checkpoint between the clans. The wall was destroyed and the borders were fully open to Eta after the War of Pnevma.
Clan Holiday
Eiriniko Tsai
The golden tip of the truffle tree tops are budding with beautiful pastel flower buds as spring comes early to Beta. Celebrate new beginnings and clean slates with Betaclan this January. Candyfloss from all of Caramella celebrate Eiriniko Tsai by cleaning house, dressing at their bests, and practicing self love, elegance and grace. Balls are held in the most gorgeous of Victorian castles and tea parties in the garden bring friends together to eat and be merry. The Beta pride themselves in their delicacies and taking a moment to be one with the stillness of nature. The symbol of beauty and mischievous joy is the Beta's beloved Charicat, who love to romp and play through the rose gardens and sip at some hot milk under the golden tea party tables. The mighty roar of the graceful Charion rings through the new year's air as all of Caramella come together on Eiriniko Tsai.The Beta celebrate their holiday in January
The Beta leader Kathari is celebrated as a beautiful work of art, and cherished by her people. She is graceful and gentle.
Clan power
Levitation
The Beta Clan’s power is the ability to levitate. The height that they can achieve is determined by body weight with a six-foot maximum record. They use their ability to cover rough terrain and water quickly. Depending on training they can also levitate for different periods of time, with younger less experienced users only able to levitate for a few seconds whiles elders can levitate for hours on end.

Listen carefully for the purring of a Cháricat hiding within the flower bushes! These adorable kitties love to frolic and play in the Gardens of Beta. The Cháricat are mischievous little devils who will do anything for a spot of tea or the opportunity to knock a designer tea cup off a table. The Cháricat have the natural ability to hover and float, and you will rarely find them sitting on the ground. They prefer to leap and bound through the air, leaving chaos in their wake. Befriend one of these devils and they will be your cuddliest companions. The Cháricat love nothing greater than a warm lap to curl up in. Charion
Meet the Charion, kings of the Beta region! These big cats are ferocious hunters that rule over the rest of the animal kingdom. Charions tend to have an aire of grace and arrogance about them and will often hover and refuse to walk on a floor that is dirty or unfamiliar to them. These glorious beasts can be tamed only if they are raised around floss from birth, and are otherwise feirce and dangerous. Doubear
The Betan Doubear is a small ground animal that digs into tunnels to burrow. As domesticated pets, they love to cuddle and bury themselves in blankets and pockets. If you have one, it's required to have a warm den for them somewhere in the home to curl up in. The Doubears are docile, prey creatures who can be skiddish and shy, but when they trust you they are playful and curious. The Doubears are ideal first pets for young floss. When they're happy they sometimes use their floating ability in their sleep, causing them to float around the house like a helium balloon. Piaofu-ci
The PiaoFu-Ci are a beloved creature native only to the Beta region and parts of Theta. The PiaoFu-Ci never stop growing. They hatch from eggs about the size of a baseball and grow at a steady rate. The average PiaoFu-Ci lives to be about the size of a Paizo dog, but the largest in history was said to be bigger than a Flogasaurus! PiaoFu-Ci come in many varieties depending on their breed, but the most common are the Porcelain PiaoFu-Ci who's body is made of slick milky glass and can be painted and decorated. The PiaoFu-Ci are docile creatures that do not attack Floss or other pets, but sometimes will fight one another for territory.

longfu-yu
The Longfu-Yu are a very rare creature, only several are known to exist and they are spoken of often in Beta legends. The Longfu-Yu are said to be ever growing longer. Their tails can stretch on for miles, as they fly over the Beta region's mountain ranges. They say that young floss who are pure of heart may spot one in the clouds and it's a symbol that they are destined for greatness. Longfu-yu come in a number of various body types, giving them distinct looks.
